Story
About Me: Name: Domino Breed (or best guess): Chihuahua mix Approximate Age: 8 yr Gender: Male Approximate Weight: 12 lb Adoption Fee: Reduced Fee $300 Requirements: Patient Adopter Why In Rescue: Owner passed away Profile: Domino has been with Bichon and Little Buddies for over 2 years as we have worked with him to have him become comfortable with humans other than his owner.  When he was surrendered, we were told he is paranoid - and that does fit him.  He gets worried when he has a tag on his collar or when he is wearing a sweater.  He has stranger danger, so isn't going to want to be in a household where people are coming and going a lot or where he is expected to go visiting.  While he has some issues, he is a funny and loving guy to the people he has bonded with.  He will sit excitedly, waiting for one of his chosen ones to kneel down and open his kennel door so he can leap out and give a hug.  It is now time for him to venture out and find a family of his own.  While he lived with other dogs in his previous home, at the shelter there are a number of dogs he doesn't get along with - primarily males, so he may do best as an only dog or a female dog with a slow introduction.  Domino went for a short home visit with a volunteer to see how he would be in a home.  He had issues with other dogs in the house when the foster mom had food.  We are hoping for an only dog home for him to lessen the chance for issues if he decided to try to guard his person or his food.  He did warm up to visitors with some time, but will likely always need a slow introduction.   If you are looking to adopt a dog that really needs you, Domino may be that guy.  He is an athletic little guy who will climb up to the top of his kennel so he can look out and see what is going on.  If you can offer Domino a patient and loving home, please fill out the pre-adoption application and we can discuss more things about him. If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $200 - $550 depending on the age of the dog, which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $75 (up to $230 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $75 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS November 5, 2024, 8:05 pm

Story
You've heard of the Princesses Anna and Elsa, but you may not be familiar with Princess Edna. Edna is a young chihuahua mix who is looking for her new castle and royal family. We think she's about a year old, just had a whole litter of puppies and is ready to rule over her very own family. You'll be confused by her size, everyone is. She's only 10 pounds despite looking bigger in pictures. Scale is hard, just prepare yourself for smaller than you think. She loves playing with her puppies, or hiding from them, either way, we think she'd like to have a dog friend to live with. She's living with cats and will also chase and play with them. Edna is a little nervous around new people but tends to warm up quickly, especially when there's snacks. Who doesn't love a snack? We think older kids would be best for her since humans that move slower and let her get used to them are her favorites. Edna will thrive in a home that will treat her like she's royalty. She is an excellent passenger princess, you definitely should stop for Starbucks on the way. Pup cups for everyone!! She's ready to do fall stuff with her new family, barking at falling leaves, picking pumpkins bigger than her, you get it. Outdoors things. Like Anna and Elsa, Edna breaks into song (barking) regularly. She's looking for a family that lives in a house not an apartment or a condo. She doesn't want to end up homeless because the neighbors don't appreciate a good song (bark) and dance break. She's spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped and ready for your people to call her people.

Story
Faith is a sweet, shy, quiet, 4yo, 7lb chihuahua. She takes a while to trust; her last people dumped her at a shelter with her baby. But once she trusts you, you'll be surprised at how great she is. She'll need some training & guidance, but she'll fall into your routine quickly. She does like to chase & bite cats, so a home without them is better. She's a gem. No apartments please. DATCP#483538

Story
Hi I’m Jack! At first, I am a quiet & timid guy but once I warm up I am a sweet playful puppy! I am very loyal & love to be my foster mom’s shadow. I am working on potty & crate training. I love to play with my foster family’s cats. I do well with other dogs as long as they understand my size. Jack will make the perfect addition to your family! No apartments please. DATCP#483538
