Current Location: Strasburg, VA Hello! My name is Lucy! I'm thought to be a Dachshund mix about 2 years old and I currently weigh about 31 pounds - though I am still working on getting my post baby shape back! I'm a sweet gal who enjoys the people I've met so far and I get along very well with the other dogs in the house. I especially enjoy snuggling and will jump up on the couch or recliner to lay next to people. I'm house trained, walk well on a leash and do fine in a crate though my foster family doesn't crate me anymore since I've proven to be trustworthy when left alone at night. I'm microchipped and current on my vaccines and monthly preventatives. I do still need to be spayed, which should happen the first week in January. I am heartworm positive so I need to receive that treatment before I can be adopted and should be able to go to my new home by the end of January. I’m looking for my forever family! Is that with you? Once an adoption is approved, dogs will travel to the United States through legal and approved international transport procedures. Meet Lylla :) • She rides so well that if you open the car door she gets in by herself, and she doesn't get car sick at all. If you like traveling she would make a really good buddy! • She loves playing with other dogs, running in the park, cuddles, kisses, sleeping with you, walks, hikes, and delicious food (fruit, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, cheese, meat) and treats! • Personality: She is affectionate, full of energy, loves to have fun, and adapts well to new things. Name:  Milo   Best Guess for Breed:   Dachshund and beagle mix  Best Guess for Age:   1 year as of December 2025     SEX:  Male   Approximate Weight: 16 lbs   Gets Along With: Other dogs!  We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:   South Carolina shelter - needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get up here!   Special adoption considerations: Milo is a truly Lucky Dog. He tested positive for heartworms, but landed in a place where heartworm treatment is provided! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. We are happy to discuss where in the treatment process this Lucky Dog is in right now!
