Our veterinary partner estimated that Penny was six months old at the time of her rescue in April 2026. Penny is good with people and other dogs. Penny came into our care when she was posted on Facebook for free when we stepped in to keep her out of danger. If you think you would be a good home for Penny, please apply online to adopt Penny (TX) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org. Penny's adoption fee is $1,000.Please also be sure to reference her name as Penny (TX) in case of duplicate names within the rescue. I'm a little stubborn but nothing a few pieces of salami can't fix. I am relaxed, love to sniff everything, and enjoy being outside in the sun. I'm a little frightened by everything, so slow intros to new things it's important. I am great with kids, a little skiddish around adults who just come up and pet me and great with other dogs. I am house trained and low shed. Perfect for apartment living. 3 Keywords for your pup:Energy Level is 1 - very calm. Barker? Or Quiet Pup?: I don't like to be left alone so that's the only time I will bark. I need to see where the commotion is. Walking Manners: I like to sniff and sometimes need to be nudged to either leave or come in the house. Appetite: I love to eat and salami and cheese are my fav as treats. Opie is five years old and knows all of his basic commands. He has been an amazing part of our family! However, in the last six months there have been multiple changes within the household that have led to some behavioral problems. We believe that if he was neutered, this might help with his dominance issues. He would do great in a household without kids but could possibly be a family dog with mature children that aren't all over him. He does have separation anxiety and therefore, tends to bark. He is also quite sensitive to loud noises. He definitely needs someone who has the time, knowledge, and patience to continue working with him on his training. Opie, loves adventure, car rides, boating, and snuggles! All together, he is an amazing dog that just needs a different environment to live in. Unfortunately, we cannot provide that for him right now.
