I have these big pointy ears that I love to perk up when I see people, a fluffy sable coat that’s super soft for cuddles, and I’m almost always smiling with my tongue hanging out because life is just so good. I’m the gentlest girl you’ll ever meet — I really don’t have a mean bone in my body. I’m sweet, calm, and easygoing. I love everyone I meet and I’m great with kids and other pets. I already know all the important house rules: I’m fully housebroken, I’m a champion at using the dog door, and I’m super chill in my kennel when you need me to be. I just want to be near my people, whether that’s snuggling on the couch or going for nice walks. Monty is a great name for a great dog like me ;) I have the Monty Python kind of humor... goofy and sweet! But, don't mess with my crate! That really is my only "pet: peeve!! I was found on the streets 2 years ago and was adopted as a pup... however, I became the boss in the house and didn't like anyone entering the house that I didn't know :( SO..... Back to the rescue, because they won't give up on me!! So here I am and I have really adjusted to the environment and new people meeting me and treats and lots of love. AND the crew here basically has determined that I need a family/adopters that will be in charge of the house. Someone I can trust to protect me so I don't have to!! I am vocal in my crate, so my crate needs to be away from the common areas so I can relax and not meet everyone that stops by. Once I settle into my new home I will follow your lead! I am a gorgeous boy, with caramel and milk chocolate highlights in my soft fur. I want to please my family and go on all kinds of adventures! I am awesome out and about, meeting new people and new friends :D I hope you will look into my eyes, the windows to my soul, and see the HOPE I have to find my own home again! Doug is a 4-year-old Terrier–Collie mix who’s been a deeply loved family dog for 3 years. Affectionate, smart, and well-trained he knows basic commands, loves to run, hike and adores snuggling. He’s thrived with two teen boys and a cat, is playful and enjoys games of chase, and would do well on a farm or in a multi-pet home. True to his Collie side, Doug has herding instincts and is true to his pack family (humans too) will monitor your yard and chase deer or other unwanted visitors —he needs a secure yard with a 4'+ fence, daily exercise (walks, hikes, runs), and company; he doesn’t do well alone. True to his terrier side, he is a bit anxious will greet you with reckless abandon like you’ve been gone for weeks, he is on daily anxiety and thyroid meds that must be continued to avoid mild seizures from hypothyroidism. Veterinary records will transfer. If you can provide an active, loving home, please welcome Doug into your home. Our hearts are broken but we trust he’ll find his place.
