We haven't seen them with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: Lucky Dog's South Carolina rescue campus. She needs a foster or adopter to secure her freedom ride to the DC area. Special adoption considerations: Because Shelby is extremely shy and nervous, she is REQUIRED to go to a home that already has a confident resident dog that will show her the world isn't so scary and help her build her braves. Shelby is a truly Lucky Dog. She tested positive for heartworms, but landed in a place where heartworm treatment is provided! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. We are happy to discuss where in the treatment process this Lucky Dog is in right now! Bailey is 6 years old and she is a border collie mixed with schipperke. She's a cute little dog with a tuxedo coat and about 30 lbs. I love her very very much and even though we have had some trying times together over the years we always found a way to get through it. Unfortunately, now it seems there has come a point where something has come up that I don't think we can work through, and so I am looking for a new home for her. Bailey is a good dog, she is very intelligent, loyal, cuddly and loving, and cheerful. She definitely has her peculiarities though, most notably is that she doesn't get along with other pets (cats/dogs). She prefers to be left alone by dogs, but will bully cats and other animals if they let her. As far as health is concerned she is healthy and has all her vaccines. She need regular exercise, I take her to a local park and she plays fetch off leash to get her energy out. Ideally looking for not 1st time dog owners with access to land for her to play.

Rusty, Sweet neutered male, is a bit shy at first but warms up to people quickly. Rusty plays well with other dogs and is curious about cats. He lives in a home with five cats, 2 dogs and a 7 year old. He loves playing fetch with the ball and is working on bringing it back and dropping the ball. Rusty does well in his kennel at night, and when no one is home. He uses a dog door and is house trained. Rusty likes to go on walks however it is best to go early in the morning or late in the day when there is not a lot of traffic or people. He gets scared by the cars. And since we have no idea what kind f life he had before he was saved by the rescue, it is just something he needs practice and confidence building ;) Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $450 (includes transport to your area)
