Story
1.5 years old, 49 lbs Personality: outgoing, calm, good running partner, quiet, playful, snuggler, goofy/funny, gentle, and affectionate. Jake is a sweet, goofy, affectionate boy. He sits, cuddles, and lays in the weirdest positions, and loves being close to his humans. Calm but active, he loves playing with other dogs, including his foster brother. He's also great with cats! This curious, happy guy loves being outside and really enjoys meeting people. His favorite outdoor activity is sniffing– he likes to know what everyone is up to! Jake is a smart cookie who already knows the words “sit,” “wait,” and “off." He's also house trained. Jake would do best in a quieter neighborhood while he learns to become comfortable when he sees other dogs while out on walks. If this funny boy seems like he could be a great fit for you, apply today so you can meet him! ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. Story
Meet Amber, a girl whose name couldn’t be more fitting. Just like the soft glow of amber itself, she radiates warmth, comfort, and a gentle kind of joy that reaches you the moment you meet her. At 2 years old and 65 pounds, this gorgeous Collie mix is the very definition of a loving companion—sweet, affectionate, and always hoping to be close enough for you to feel the steady beat of her loyal heart. Amber’s story began in a tiny rural community, where she wandered alone until kind locals stepped in to help her. No one came forward to claim her, but maybe that’s because her real family is still out there—someone who will recognize that she was meant for them. When Critter Cavalry Rescue brought her in, they immediately saw it: her remarkable intelligence, her eagerness to bond, and her gentle, soulful spirit. Amber enjoys every simple pleasure with pure gratitude—exploring the world on her harness, leaning in for affection, and curling up with her beloved stuffed bunny, who has become her constant companion. She loves being brushed, loves being talked to, and really loves being included. Amber gets along with other dogs, though her enthusiasm may be a bit much for calmer companions. As for cats… well, they’re a little mysterious and intimidating to her. But people? She adores them—wholeheartedly. This beautiful girl is ready to become someone’s heart dog… that once-in-a-lifetime companion who fills a home with warmth, softness, and quiet devotion. If you are looking for a dog who will love you with her whole soul, who will share every moment by your side, and who will glow with gratitude for the rest of her life, Amber may be the one you’ve been waiting for.   If you are interested please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com  PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.November 22, 2025, 9:52 pm

Story
Please contact Destiny Sibert (DestinyS@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Sweet Lady Seeking Family of Her Own! SHELBY NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:    Shelby        Best Guess for Breed:   Collie/Shepherd Mix      Best Guess for Age:    3 years as of Dec. 2025       SEX:    Female   Approximate Weight:    40 lbs   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen them with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:    Lucky Dog's South Carolina rescue campus. She needs a foster or adopter to secure her freedom ride to the DC area.    Special adoption considerations: Shelby is a truly Lucky Dog. She tested positive for heartworms, but landed in a place where heartworm treatment is provided! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. We are happy to discuss where in the treatment process this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!   Shelby is Looking For:   Her forever home! This sweet girl landed in the shelter through no fault of her own. At three years old, she's past her puppy days but is up for adventure - she's eager for sniffy walks and world exploration with her humans! A cushy dog bed, quality kibble, and lots of snuggles round out her wish list. What do you say? Do you have space in your home and your heart for Shelby? What My Foster Says About Me:   Shelby needs a foster!   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.   To learn more about Lucky Dog, please visit www.luckydoganimalrescue.org   .    BE A FOSTER!!!    Fosters make it possible for Lucky Dog Animal Rescue to save and care for homeless and abandoned dogs!  To learn about fostering, please contact    fostering@luckydoganimalrescue.org   ! Story
Rusty, Sweet neutered male, is a bit shy at first but warms up to people quickly. Rusty plays well with other dogs and is curious about cats. He lives in a home with five cats, 2 dogs and a 7 year old. He loves playing fetch with the ball and is working on bringing it back and dropping the ball. Rusty does well in his kennel at night, and when no one is home. He uses a dog door and is house trained. Rusty likes to go on walks however it is best to go early in the morning or late in the day when there is not a lot of traffic or people. He gets scared by the cars. And since we have no idea what kind f life he had before he was saved by the rescue, it is just something he needs practice and confidence building ;) Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $450 (includes transport to your area)
