We are not sure how she does with kids or cats, but happy to test her out for you! About Citra: Citra is an adorable 4 year old border collie mix who is incredibly smart and loves to learn new tricks. Fun facts: she knows over 15 commands and is working on several more, she’s a mozzarella cheese aficionado and butt scratches are her favorite! She also loves sunbathing - she can go for hours without moving from a sunny spot! Please read more about her below! CITRA’S PERFECT MATCH: PERFECT FAMILY: A home with 1-2 adults is ideal. Citra needs crate time when guests come over, but can warm up with a slow introduction and some treats. Because she is shy, we are recommending she not go to a home with small children. She can be quite scared of other dogs and cats, and would do best as the only dog in the home. However, she has been working her hardest with us to overcome her fears, and has shown lots of progress recently! PERFECT HOME: One with a fenced in yard away from the bustling city. EXERCISE NEEDS: Citra enjoys long walks on the leash and rolling in the grass belly side up at the park. She could play fetch and tug all day long with her humans! However, she is also very content to lounge around the house. She is such a playful pup and would love to learn new games and activities! She loves untangling a towel to get to her food, and that tires her out just as much as a walk! She should not be taken to dog parks. BEHAVIOR IN HOME: Citra is a sweetheart. She loves to play with her humans and then take naps on the couch or in her crate. She is slowly but surely learning how to interact with new humans, but it takes a lot of treats and patience to gain her trust. Once she gets comfortable, she would love nothing more but to snuggle up with you all night long. She is quiet and comfortable in her crate, knows the “place” command, and does not have accidents in the home. Because Gilly is shy, he needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog. Due to his shy personality, we do not recommend him for a home with children under the age of 12. We haven't seen him with cats or kids but he can be tested once he has arrived in the DC area. Currently Living at: DC area foster home. Special adoption considerations:   Gilly is from a hoarding/cruelty situation, and was very scared at rescue. Because Gilly is shy, he needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog. Due to his shy personality, we do not recommend him for a home with children under the age of 12. He is eager to get his own humans - ones who get that he might need extra support during his adjustment and give him all the love and patience he needs. And ones who take him for sniffy walks and all those adventures he's been missing out on - he's in his prime and has lost time to make up for! And what do his humans they get in return? Loves being in the crate where he feels safe. Learning to walk on a leash. He seems to like the company of our other dog so far and is learning from her how to be a dog. Max belonged to my Mom. He is loving, smart, obedient, and house trained. He is VERY FRIENDLY! He gets along with Cats and kids. My Mom really loved and spoiled him. She got sick in May of 22. I took care of him since then. My brother, who was there when she adopted him from a shelter in Ga, said he would take him. He backed out at the last minute. I travel internationally for work. I HAVE TO GET BACK TO WORK AS I AM ALMOST BROKE NOW. I don't have the time or the money to care for Max anymore. Need to rehome him ASAP so I can get back to work!

Angel is a sweet tricolor male collie born in March 2023.  He's a gorgeous boy who has filled out beautifully this winter and is in perfect physical condition.  When he plays with other dogs, he shows off his speed and athleticism.  Angel is alert and intelligent, and loves to play.  As a member of his little pack at his foster home, he is very happy to be the sweet, young guy who is always up for a game of tag or a little wrestle. He absolutely loves tennis balls and other toys. He also gets along with every dog he meets!  He hasn’t met a dog he doesn’t love -- young or old, large or small. Angel would be happiest if he had a canine sister or brother to romp with in a fenced-in yard, and an outdoorsy family who enjoys exploring the countryside or trails with a loyal companion.  When he is inside, he settles down nicely. He is happy to go into his puppy pen at naptime and bedtime, and never complains or makes a peep. He would be very happy if his new family provides him with a large crate or puppy pen where he can retire when things get a bit too busy At mealtime, he is polite and quietly waits his turn.  He also comes running whenever called - hoping you'll give him a robust butt scratch. Mossy is a great dog! He is a cheerful, snuggly 3 year old, 48 lb cattle dog mix. Mossy enjoys fetching a ball or stick, over and over, and has amazing eye-mouth coordination, always catching the ball on the first bounce! He really loves playing in water, even in cold weather, and rolling in the snow. He loves people and other dogs with proper introductions. A chill, well-balanced dog that likes to play would be the best match for him. Mossy is a wonderful, incredibly loyal dog who will do anything to make his people happy! He is housebroken, crate trained and does well walking on a leash. He is too interested in cats, so he is not recommended for a house with cats unless someone wants to put a lot of work into desensitizing him. Mossy will require a yard in his forever home to get the exercise typically needed by cattle dogs and to keep his brain engaged. He would love to go on hikes, maybe do some agility and he rides perfectly in the car. Mossy is neutered and up-to-date on vaccines.
