Name: Citra Sex: Female Estimated Age: 3-4 years Best Guess for Breed: Border Collie Mix Weight: 59lbs Good With: Citra is good with other dogs as long as she has the proper introduction. We are not sure how she does with kids or cats, but happy to test her out for you! About Citra: Citra is an adorable 4 year old border collie mix who is incredibly smart and loves to learn new tricks. Fun facts: she knows over 15 commands and is working on several more, she’s a mozzarella cheese aficionado and butt scratches are her favorite! She also loves sunbathing - she can go for hours without moving from a sunny spot! Please read more about her below! CITRA’S PERFECT MATCH: PERFECT FAMILY: A home with 1-2 adults is ideal. Citra needs crate time when guests come over, but can warm up with a slow introduction and some treats. Because she is shy, we are recommending she not go to a home with small children. She can be quite scared of other dogs and cats, and would do best as the only dog in the home. However, she has been working her hardest with us to overcome her fears, and has shown lots of progress recently! PERFECT HOME: One with a fenced in yard away from the bustling city. EXERCISE NEEDS: Citra enjoys long walks on the leash and rolling in the grass belly side up at the park. She could play fetch and tug all day long with her humans! However, she is also very content to lounge around the house. She is such a playful pup and would love to learn new games and activities! She loves untangling a towel to get to her food, and that tires her out just as much as a walk! She should not be taken to dog parks. BEHAVIOR IN HOME: Citra is a sweetheart. She loves to play with her humans and then take naps on the couch or in her crate. She is slowly but surely learning how to interact with new humans, but it takes a lot of treats and patience to gain her trust. Once she gets comfortable, she would love nothing more but to snuggle up with you all night long. She is quiet and comfortable in her crate, knows the “place” command, and does not have accidents in the home. CRATE: Citra loves her crate, she will sleep and relax there during the day and while her humans are not at home. She also sleeps in there all night long! Color Match: ORANGE - Goofball (Socially Motivated) Dog Personality — Will work for what they want, but are not as committed to pursuing their own agenda; these are considered moderate-persistence dogs. Adopter Personality — Interested in doing some training and can provide regular interaction and activity. If you think that Citra might be your perfect match, apply today!July 26, 2024, 4:27 pm

She is a young and sweet South Carolina girl on the hunt for her forever home. She can be a little shy with people, but warms up quickly and once she does, you'll have a true friend in Apple. Her shyness doesn't extend to her doggy friends, though. She's fantastic with other dogs, and she would fit well into a home with another canine companion. Despite her initial shyness, Apple has a lot of unconditional love and loyalty to give. She's just waiting for that special someone who will be hers forever. Story
Please contact Kady Hammer (KadyH@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.sweet boy ISO fresh start and love!GILLY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Come meet Gilly and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (July 28th) from 12-3 pm at the Petsmart in Silver Spring (12020 Cherry Hill Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20904)!   Name: Gilly      Best Guess for Breed: Collie/Shepherd mix Best Guess for Age:   4 years as of May 2024       SEX: Male Approximate Weight:  42.6 lbs Gets Along With:   Gilly does well with other dogs. Because Gilly is shy, he needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog. We would be cautious placing Gilly in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise.  Children would need to be supervised closely to not leave doors open and should never walk the dog without an adult holding the leash.  We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant. Currently Living at: DC area foster home. Special adoption considerations:   Gilly is from a hoarding/cruelty situation, and was very scared at rescue. Gilly is Looking For:  For a loving home that delivers all the sweet things his rescuers whispered in his ear.... 'You're safe now, sweet boy. The life you deserve starts now. You get lots of love, quality kibble, a cushy dog bed - and a warm lap if you'd like too. You're safe now, sweet boy.'  Gilly was rescued from a hoarding/cruelty case and landed in a massive south Texas shelter that routinely has 1200-1500 animals in their care; his chances of being adopted in that area are, well, low to nil. Once he arrives in the DC area, he likely will be nervous in new environments. He is eager to get his own humans - ones who get that he might need extra support during his adjustment and give him all the love and patience he needs. And ones who take him for sniffy walks and all those adventures he's been missing out on - he's in his prime and has lost time to make up for! And what do his humans they get in return? An incredibly sweet and loving dog with an enormous stockpile of adoring gazes and loyal companionship to offer the humans in his new chapter.   What do you say? Will you help him write it? What My Foster Says About Me:  Gilly has been settling into his foster home for a few weeks now and has been making great strides. He is a very sweet boy who craves attention and loves cuddling on the couch once he gets to know you. He will lean his whole body against you and nudge you with his head asking for pets. While he is happy just chilling on the couch most of the time he does enjoy getting some energy out by playing in the yard with our other dog or you and getting his zoomies out. He enjoys chew toys and and is learning to walk well on a leash. He will require some grooming due to having a doodle/poodle type coat that he is growing out beautifully after he was shaven down during his rescue. He is very good about going potty outside. The only time he has barked is when new strangers come into the house so he will make a good guard dog alerting you to strangers. He still sometimes takes a bit to be comfortable in new situations and can be nervous but that is understandable coming from a hoarding case. Gilly has so much love to give and would make a great companion! Please contact Paul Slebzak (pauls@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.young girl eager for fresh start and love! LEENA NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Leena       Best Guess for Breed:  Collie and shepherd mix Best Guess for Age:   1 year 8 months as of July 2024         SEX:   Female   Approximate Weight:  35 lbs   Gets Along With:    Leena is great with other dogs and loves people! She hasn't been seen specifically with kids or cats but can be tested.   Currently Living at:   Texas shelter; needs an adopter in the DC area to get her freedom flight here.    All about Leena: Leena is one of over a thousand animals in a shelter so far south in Texas that it's less than 30 miles from the border. Shelter staff love this happy young sweetie. She does great in playgroup with other dogs and loves the water. The photos don't do her face justice - she has a fascinating long snoot that just begs to be booped. (hence the 'collie' as one of her best-guess breeds.) Leena is a happy young dog. She is all you imagine a dog could be. If you're active, she could be a great companion for your adventures. She LOVES water, so she'd be right there splashing across creeks with you! If you're more into spectator sports, she'll give you plenty of entertainment running around joyfully with other dogs when you take her to the park or to doggie daycare. She would also be a fantastic addition to a household with other dogs seeking a playmate. But most of all - she loves people very much and wants to have her own. Can you see yourself looking down at her staring at you ready to burst forth and start a new day together - trotting alongside you - curled up at your feet after a fun day? APPLICATION LINK: https://shaynesrescue.com/adoption-application/ We must have an application to move forward. (Shayne's Rescue is an affiliate with PetCentralSATX). If there are problems with the website, please email me for help. PANSY is the only girl of the litter...and as such, she has learned to hold her own. She is playful and funny and a true delight. She is quite a “water dog.” We believe her to be Australian Cattle Dog (in this case, Red Heeler) and we know the mother is part Australian Shepherd. We expect Pansy to grow to about 40-50#s. Her DOB is 3/1/2024. She currently has had other animals around her while living on the ranch…like a donkey, goats, sheep, and pigs. She’s also seen and been around several cats. Although she’s not made deep friendships with any of these, she’s at least seen them and gone nose-to-nose with them. This dog is CURRENTLY IN TEXAS and available for pre-adoption. Adoptions include neuter/spay, vaccinations (DHPP, Bordetella, Rabies), microchip, health certificate, transport with our professional dog transporter, and 6 mos of heart worm prevention. If you have any questions or would like an e-mail from us as to how all of this works, text me (Terry); identify the dog's name and give me your email address... 210-394-6060. You can also go to our Facebook page... https://www.facebook.com/Pet-Central-SATX-866684826744181/ and LIKE us to help us out. After we review your application, we will contact you, and you'll have the opportunity to find out more from the rescue. If you experience any issues filling out the application you can contact us directly at petcentralsatx@gmail.com. This is ONLY if you have problems applying. If you have not applied, you will not receive a response so please only email if you have any issues applying. Adoption Fees The adoption fee includes transportation to the NE. All pups and dogs are fully vetted, spayed/neutered, microchipped, dewormed, have a negative heart worm test for all dogs over 6 months at time of transport, have a health certificate, and have all age-appropriate vaccinations. Some dogs/pups have additional medical, including but not limited to FHO, ACL, hernias, dental, and other vetting. All medical records will be provided to the adopter at the time they pick up their dog. This is a post on behalf of Pet Central SATX Rescue, headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, where there are over 350,000 homeless pets. We have hundreds of puppies/dogs available so there really is no need to apply anywhere else. Also, one application is good even if you are interested in several different dogs...one application no matter which one you choose. Thank you for choosing to adopt a rescue pup/dog. We firmly believe there is NO breed other than "rescue" for all species. Thank you for being part of the village it takes to save these precious lives.
