Rusty, Sweet neutered male, is a bit shy at first but warms up to people quickly. Rusty plays well with other dogs and is curious about cats. He lives in a home with five cats, 2 dogs and a 7 year old. He loves playing fetch with the ball and is working on bringing it back and dropping the ball. Rusty does well in his kennel at night, and when no one is home. He uses a dog door and is house trained. Rusty likes to go on walks however it is best to go early in the morning or late in the day when there is not a lot of traffic or people. He gets scared by the cars. Russell is a healthy, intelligent, and athletic 2yo male Australian Shepherd looking for the right long-term home. He is house-trained, great with other dogs and cats, and does well with both men and women.(He has not lived with kids but would ideally live in a kid-free home or older kids home who knows to not to pull tails) Outside the home, he has no issues with strangers and enjoys being out and about. Russell loves bonding with his people, is very smart, and thrives on structure and routine. He has worked with both an obedience trainer and responds well to positive reinforcement. He is still working on managing stress when unfamiliar people enter his home, which is why a low-traffic household is important for his success. Russell would do best with an active individual or couple who can provide consistency, predictability, and a calm environment. Unfortunately, I am not the right long-term home for him due to frequent visitors related to caregiving responsibilities.

Monty is a great name for a great dog like me ;) I have the Monty Python kind of humor... goofy and sweet! But, don't mess with my crate! That really is my only "pet: peeve!! I was found on the streets 2 years ago and was adopted as a pup... however, I became the boss in the house and didn't like anyone entering the house that I didn't know :( SO..... Back to the rescue, because they won't give up on me!! So here I am and I have really adjusted to the environment and new people meeting me and treats and lots of love. AND the crew here basically has determined that I need a family/adopters that will be in charge of the house. Someone I can trust to protect me so I don't have to!! I am vocal in my crate, so my crate needs to be away from the common areas so I can relax and not meet everyone that stops by. Once I settle into my new home I will follow your lead! I am a gorgeous boy, with caramel and milk chocolate highlights in my soft fur. I want to please my family and go on all kinds of adventures! I am awesome out and about, meeting new people and new friends :D I hope you will look into my eyes, the windows to my soul, and see the HOPE I have to find my own home again! The rescue is great because I got a second chance, but I REALLY want a home!! Local adoption only $200 (in TX)
