Story
1 year old, collie/lab mix, female Zetta is new to the rescue. We will add more information as we get to know the dog better. If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Apply for a DOG: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/CDCK/Dog City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained. Not Ready to commit to adopting yet? Foster a dog today! See our list of dogs needing foster: https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/adopt-foster/foster-a-dog/ Apply to foster: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/foster/CDCK/Dog

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out an Adoption Questionnaire at  https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/43315/genericYou can learn about the adoption process by visiting:  http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/howtoadopt/.  Dog's Name:  Baby Opal (OPA0525CHEFD)Estimated Breed:  Collie mix Approximate Age:  10-11 weeks   Approximate Weight:  12 LBS Currently Living at:  Foster      Adoption Fee:  $500DOG'S DESCRIPTION:  Hi there, I'm Baby Opal. I came from an overcrowded shelter in Chesterfield, South Carolina along with my sister, Baby Ruby. The shelter is no place for a little puppy like me, fortunately we have been rescued by K-9 Lifesavers and given the opportunity to find our respective forever families. Could that be with you? I'm your typical sweet and loving puppy, always ready to give you puppy kisses and cuddle up by your side. I'm a little shy at first because of all the recent changes I have experienced but I warm up very quickly. I adore other dogs and just love to play. While attending an adoption event everyone remarked what a lovely puppy I was. I promise to bring happiness into your life with my sweet and loving nature. Why should you adopt me? Well, I believe every home needs a little extra love and laughter, and I'm just the puppy to deliver that! At my young age, I'm in my prime for training and socialization too. I will make an amazing addition to an active home. Submit an application today!  Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.           Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (at partner vet if not fixed before adoption), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets. Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit  http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/  or email our Foster Coordinator at  foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSponsor Me!    Make a  tax-deductible donation  today by visiting us at http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/donate/  . Donations help us offset boarding costs and additional medical treatment for those dogs who need it.  K-9 Lifesavers receives NO federal funding and survive with your generous support! For more information on K-9 Lifesavers, or to view a complete listing of all our Adoptable Dogs, visit our website at https://k-9lifesavers.org/adopt. Please “like” our  Facebook Page  for the most current events and new dogs.Thank you for considering a rescue dog! ##2397699##

She is a young and sweet South Carolina girl on the hunt for her forever home. Once she gets to know you, Apple is very affectionate! You will have a true and loyal friend in Apple. Apple can be a bit dog selective as she is fearful of some dogs. She would do well as the only dog in a home or with a male dog that is not dominant. Apple loves being outside and playing!
