House trained: Yes Energy level: High Noise level: Quiet My foster guardian says: My favorite thing about Joey is how affectionate he is! He couldnt be more cuddly! Hi, my name is Joey, and Im a Joy-y to be around! Thats what my foster family, and pretty much everybody I meet says! Im a super happy, snuggly pup who loves to be with his people and get all the love! Im a little shy with new people and dogs, but once I warm up, youll forget I was every anything but a total love bug! My foster family says Im gaining confidence everyday, and they think Ill come out of my shell in no time! I have a lot of energy, and I love to play! I like to get everyone involved in games of chase, tug, and you throw the ball and Ill steal it and run around the yard like a hooligan! Have you ever played? Its my favorite! I also love to wrestle and play with all my doggy friends at the park! Having another pup in my forever family would be so much fun, though Id be okay as an only child too! My foster family says that Im well on my way to being the best behaved boy ever! Im potty trained and crate trained, and I walk really well on leash. I've also been working on my "Sit," "Down," and "Stay," and making great progress! Im working on remembering that not everything is a chew toy (Im a puppy after all), but I love to chew on bones and toys, and Im very easily re-directed if I get something I shouldnt be snacking on. I dont know any tricks yet, but Id love to learn some with my forever family, especially if snacks are involved! If youre looking for a fun-loving bundle of joy, thats my dictionary definition! I cant wait to join my forever family, so apply to adopt me today! Please visit our website www.ruraldogrescue.com to learn more about this amazing dog and to see other dogs available for adoption!

Story
Meet your new best friend, Catina — a sweet, mellow girl who is 5.5 years old and has a heart full of love and some of the best house manners around. She’s the kind of dog who settles easily into a home and quickly becomes everyone’s favorite companion. This lovely pup absolutely adores people and is happiest making new friends wherever she goes. She may get a little excited and jumpy when greeting someone new, but it’s all pure happiness and affection. At the dog park, while other dogs are busy wrestling and chasing balls, she’s usually making the rounds to collect pets and attention from every human she can find. She walks beautifully on a leash, enjoys her meals with enthusiasm, and has an easygoing personality that makes living with her a breeze. Around the house, she’s calm and content to simply curl up nearby while her foster family relaxes. She’s not anxious, needy, or quirky — just a steady, loving companion who enjoys being close to her people. She’s crate trained, though she doesn’t really need one, and she does just fine when left alone for a little while. The only thing to note is that long car rides can make her a bit drooly or carsick, but otherwise she handles everyday life wonderfully. She does have some allergies that are well-managed with medication, and she takes it like a champ. Her foster family has found it very easy to keep her comfortable and happy. If you’re looking for a gentle, affectionate dog with a calm spirit, great manners, and lots of love to give, she may be exactly the missing piece your family has been waiting for.      If you are interested in rescuing a collie, please complete this short adoption questionnaire. Story
Charlie is a good dog who got a bad start.  We have no knowledge of his history and where he came from, but we are pretty sure he has not lived in a house with people.  When he first came to us, he hid from the dishwasher, barked at the television and ran away when first presented with stuffed toys.  He remains easily spooked by noise, but is improving – getting used to the dishwasher, the television, the stuffed dog toys and other day-to-day items in the house.  Physically, he was in pretty bad condition - He was positive for tick illnesses (we gave him Doxy and he is doing bettter now), his coat and skin were in horrible condition (we've given him good nutrition and he's looking a lot better), his teeth were Grade 3 dental disease (we gave him a dental and they are all clean now)!  Charlie weighs about 63 lbs. Charlie is a quick learner, and is adapting to life in a home with his foster collie sister.  He is learning commands and is starting to recognize his name.  We do not crate him, but leave it open and he often sleeps in there.  He is respectful of the house and items in it, and does not jump on the furniture.  He is very cooperative - He pretty much will stand still for almost anything if you ask him to especially if you scratch him – he loves to be scratched.  He grooms well, and is very affectionate.  His fur is growing in nicely since he needed to have some extensive matting shaved.   He’s very focused on understanding and fitting into his new environment.  He watches intensely and you can see the wheels turning as he tries to figure it all out.  He is interested in other dogs and people, and has shown no aggression toward either – but he will bark in the backyard at passing people (and squirrels) with his sister, who loves to do that.   Charlie is quite smart and very eager to please. We estimate his age to be about 6 years old.  If you are interested in rescuing a collie, please complete this short adoption questionnaire. Our standard adoption fee is $450.
