Story
Say Hey to Amber. She is a 5 year old spayed Cattle dog mix. Amber came to us with her four babies Amber became very sick due to heartworms and was unable to care for them. The babies were bottle fed so we could treat Amber as soon as possible because that was her best chance for her and them. Amber went through two rounds of treatment and lots of meds. She just tested negative so now is her time to find a family to care and love her really that’s all she wants. She is housebroken. Crate trained. Amber prefers a calm house. She would love to be the only one but would be okay with a mellow friend. She really just wants to please you. Come meet this special girl today!

Story
Introducing Zara, a delightful one-year-old bundle of affection and unwavering devotion. Zara's journey began when we saved her from a high-kill shelter in Texas, narrowly escaping a grim fate. It's evident that someone may have treated her unkindly, as she initially displays timidity (cowers) around unfamiliar people, but she will also get on her back for belly rubs. With time, love, and a reassuring touch, Zara will blossom into the best version of herself. She has the prettiest coat and if you brush it the opposite way, you can see that her roots are red!  In her nurturing foster home, Zara is flourishing, thanks to her work-at-home foster parents who provide ample human interaction and the attention she craves. She's a snuggling pro, always seeking reassurance and showering you with boundless love. While Zara prefers not to be confined in a kennel at any time, she is house trained and we think she will get used to a crate with some patience & positive reinforcement. She is very food motivated and eager to please. She's very well-mannered on leash and loves walks so much.. Those are her favorite! She dislikes being alone, so ideally her family will spend a lot of time at home or bring her places. Zara would thrive in a home with submissive dogs or as the only dog, and slow introductions are crucial when meeting new dogs & settling into a new environment. She is NOT good with cats or other small animals due to her high prey drive, so her future home must not have any. It's important to note that she's best suited for a home with children over the age of 10 as she doesn't always realize her size. She will playfully nibble on you when she wants someone to pet her, which is a typical cattle dog trait.  Zara needs to be in an environment where those around her understand and respect her boundaries as she continues to heal and learns to trust that she'll never experience harm again. When Zara knows and trusts you, she'll eagerly leap onto you, expressing her love through her endearing, expressive eyes and a hug. Zara delights in a balanced blend of indoor and outdoor play and finds pure joy in basking in the warm sun. If you're in search of an affectionate and loyal companion perfectly suited to a work-from-home /retirement lifestyle or an active one where you’ll bring your dog with you all over, Zara is the ideal addition to your life. Story
Meet Lindy, a charming 4-month-old female puppy with beautiful facial markings and adorable ears. Lindy is an absolute love bug who is currently in the process of house and crate training. She will bark to let you know when she needs to go out and is not destructive inside or outside. While she does bark because she’s a puppy, it’s not excessive and she can be easily redirected.   Lindy sleeps in her crate with her brother at night and is dog-friendly. We think she could be cat-friendly and would likely do well with kids, although she can be a bit jumpy, as puppies often are. Lindy loves to run and play, and she enjoys being held and snuggled.   We’re working on her leash training, and we believe she could make a great running or hiking partner as she gets older. Although she’s only been in the car once, she did great. Lindy is learning the commands “sit” and “stay,” and she loves treats, toys of all kinds, playing with her brother, and snuggles.   Lindy’s ideal home would be with an active family that has a fenced yard and someone to play with her. She likes to have someone around and enjoys cuddling, being allowed on the furniture, and showing her affectionate side. With her unique looks and loving personality, Lindy is ready to become a cherished member of a loving family.   DISCLAIMER- Breed type is determined based on general appearance and behavioral characteristics and cannot be guaranteed unless DNA test results or AKC registration were provided at intake. ***LINDY IS FOSTERED IN TEXAS, BUT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION AND TRANSPORT OUT OF STATE. Story
Age: 2 years Size: 58 pounds Estimated breed: Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler mix Spotty needs a home with: resident dog(s), fenced in yard, no young children   Update 7/7:  Spotty is super dog social guy who needs to be with other dogs. He absolutely adores every dog he meets. Spotty is still a little reserved around people but has been making huge strides and seems to improve every day! He has gone through professional training to work on self- confidence and is able to go on walks now and trust more than he used to. Spotty is super submissive and needs a home with a very social dog that will hang out and play with him all day. He loves to play with dogs more than anything. Spotty is also house trained and crate trained. He requires a fenced yard as he can get spooked and we don’t want to take chances of him trying to flee. Spotty has endless potential if you give him the time and patience he needs and deserves to come out of his shell! -------- Spotty is estimated to be about 1.5 years old and 45 pounds. He was found as a stray in SC and was completely petrified at the shelter. He sat in a corner shaking and had to be carried just to move out of his kennel. He came to us very nervous and shy but with the help of his canine friends, he is slowly learning to trust and thriving in his foster home. He has also met and done training with our trainer where he is now comfortable going for walks on a leash and exploring the outdoors!   Spotty gains comfort from other dogs, so he requires a home with a friendly resident dog to help show him the ropes. Spotty would do best in a home without young children as he is still gets timid around new people and retreats. With time and patience, he will show his new family how goofy and happy he really is. All he needs is someone who is understands that just needs a little time to know he is safe. His best quality..... he is AMAZING with other dogs and wants to be their best friend. If you have a dog that has been wanting a sibling, Spotty is your guy!   To adopt Spotty, please apply on our website! www.keytolionsheart.org/adopt   Please note we cannot guarantee the breed or adult size of any of our dogs. All of our dogs are working on their crate and house training. July 25, 2024, 10:15 pm

Story
Mojo was found as a stray and we made every effort to find his owners but to no avail. He is an Aussie mix and of course with the breed comes high activity. I will say that he loves his down time though! He is NOT an apartment dog. He needs a good sized fenced yard. He is not great in a crowd of dogs but will do well with a sister or brother to play with. He hasn't been tested with cats so we don't know about that. The vet believes his age to be about 6 years. He's neutered, vaccinated, crate trained and heart worm negative. He is more than ready for his forever home! ADOPTION FEE $400 PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION!
