Story
Meet Piper, a 36 pound, 7 month old female border collie/retriever mix. When we think of rescue dogs, they are normally a work in progress in one or more areas. Piper, on the other hand, should be about as much of a turn key dog as you could ever want.As she had a foster before arriving in Milwaukee, she knows her name, how to sit, stay, walk on a leash & even knows how to enjoy relaxing on your furniture 🤷‍♂️!Although she’s very new with Rescue Gang, we’ve seen that she gets along great with other dogs & is now fostered with four larger dogs. We don’t know about kids yet, but all indications from her gentle disposition indicates that she’d be great with them. And, although just 7 months old, one would never believe that she is still a puppy! Why not give this beautiful girl the special home she deserves? Fill out an application & schedule a meet & greet with Piper today. Apply at Rescuegang.org🦮 Walks on a leash.🐶 Crate trained & potty trained🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 😸 Unknown with kids & cats🐾 Up to Date with Vaccinations & is spayedDATCP#483538

So when I heard he was being returned by his adopters because the resident dog didn’t like him, I immediately said, “𝗪𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗲𝘀.”ʜᴇʀᴇ ɪs ᴏᴜʀ ʀᴇᴀʟɪᴛʏ.When 𝗣𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗲𝘀 first came to our house, he was sad. He watched the window, waiting for his family.Four hours later, our grandchildren arrived. And 𝗣𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗲𝘀 was 𝗣𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻.His adopters loved him, and I witnessed how incredibly difficult it was for them to leave him with us. This isn’t a dog who was given up because he wasn’t loved. He was loved. He just needs the right forever home.𝗣𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗲𝘀 is 56 pounds, fit and trim, and has the most beautiful house manners. Completely house trained.Crate? He doesn’t need one. He will lay on the couch and wait for you to return. No destruction. No shoes moved. No socks disappearing. No walking across coffee tables.Just a beautiful, well-mannered dog who wants to be with his people.𝗩𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗿𝗼 𝗱𝗼𝗴? 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵. He wants to be with his people. Period. 𝗞𝗶𝗱𝘀? 𝗟𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗦 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺.Our neighbor kids come to visit him regularly, and 𝗣𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗲𝘀 is absolutely thrilled. He plants his bum in their laps and gives kisses. His adopters had children ages one and up, and Pickles fit right in.𝗛𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁, 𝘁𝗼𝗼.By his third night with us, he figured out the routine. He signaled that it was bedtime and actually led the way to the bedroom. He sleeps in bed with us, quietly stays put until we wake up, and then the morning snuggles begin.Oh, the joy of starting each day with 𝗣𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗲𝘀.We needed to work on his leash skills. He loves his walks but could get ahead and pull. We immediately added two daily sessions of figure eights and “heel,” and after just two days, his leash skills are amazing. I have never witnessed a dog apply so much self control in his efforts to please and be a good boy.𝗣𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗲𝘀 wants to please. He is a handsome boy who does well with other dogs after a proper introduction. 𝗡𝗼 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗲𝘀.That’s it. This is 𝗣𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗲𝘀’ story. He will love his people with his whole heart and be an amazing companion. After everything he has been through, 𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁. This is our 34th foster and it will be hard to see him go.
