Story
Hello Biggie Paws Friends! 👋Spring is coming and we have the perfect flower for you 🌸 …A Moonflower! Moonflower, (sometimes called Moonie by her foster family) is looking for her forever home - she is staying in McHenry, IL right now. Moonie is about 4 months old, 15 pounds and looks like a Shepherd Mix. There’s a lot of work that goes into the life of a puppy! Learning to walk on a leash, always going potty outside, looking after those humans… Moonflower is doing a great job with all her puppy skills! She still has some accidents, but has been doing great going to the bathroom outside - her foster family is also starting to teach her some tricks and commands, like ‘sit’! Sometimes new situations can be a little scary - I’m sure you’ve been there before! Moonflower feels this way sometimes too and just likes to have a little time to get to know people. Once she is comfortable, you’ll really get to see her affectionate side and she’ll curl right up in your lap. We recommend a forever home for Moonflower that does not have small children - she likes to have time to warm up to people, and sometimes little ones aren’t quite old enough to understand that. Moonflower loves her human friends, but may like her animal friends even more! When she gets a chance, she loves playing with other dogs and cats. 🐾Moonflower can’t wait to find her forever home! If you think she would be a good fit for your family and you would like to be considered to adopt her, please apply using the link below! Moonflower is available for adoption for a fee of $500. She is microchipped, up-to-date on all her age-appropriate shots and spayed.http://www.biggiepawsrescue.orgDATCP # 494550

Check out our Facebook page and YouTube channel for more pictures & videos of our adoptable dogs!  Updated: 11/28/2023 Dog Name: Willow Sex: Female Estimated Breed Mix: Smooth Collie/ Mix Approximate Age: 2 years Approximate Weight: 40 lbs. Description: Sweet Willow was abandoned in the woods of a small Texas town, she was skin and bones and had very obviously been owned before. She greeted her finders with a wagging tail and lots of kisses! Willow is very intelligent and listens very well. She is great with other dogs, big & small. She is also great with kids! She is a petite medium size, the kind of dog you can take for adventures or just lounge at home! Willow deserves a warm and loving home! Adoption Fee: $400.00 We are a Wisconsin state licensed dog rescue -WI# 402433   ***We do not have a central adoption center at this time. All our dogs are in private foster homes within WI. At this time we only place our dogs in areas of WI. The breed of our dogs is our best guess with the help of our veterinarians. Our Weight Classes are as follows: 0- 25lbs - Small 26- 45lbs - Medium 46-89 - Large 90+ X-large If you are adopting an adult dog, which we consider 6 months of age or older, your adoption fee includes the following: Spay/Neuter, Rabies and Distemper shots, dewormed, flea & tick preventative, heartworm tested and microchipped. If you are adopting a dog younger than 6 months of age, the dog will be up to date on the shots as per the dogs age. The dog will be dewormed, flea/tick preventative and microchipped. We only spay/neuter our dogs by 6 months of age. If you decide to adopt a younger dog than 6 months of age, they will need to be spayed/neutered at one of our preferred clinics. This will be determined by your contract along with the month they should have their surgery. This is included in your adoption fee. Once you are approved with our rescue, you can meet any one of our dogs within the fosters home. If you are interested in the dog you met, you can take the dog home under our mandatory foster to adopt program. You receive 5 days to see if the dog is the right fit for your home. If it is, we will conduct the home visit and finalize adoption. If it is not, it is returned to the foster. We are happy to find you another dog that meets your needs in your home. If a dog is listed as PENDING, a family has met the dog and planning on adopting the dog after the home visit has been conducted. We always suggest sending in an application for a dog because there are times where the dogs are given back to us under the foster to adopt program. There are many reasons dogs are returned but normally it just was not the right fit for all. Please go to WWW.TAILWAGGERS911.COM under HOW TO ADOPT . We have an online application that is very easy to fill out. April 25, 2024, 10:37 pm

Story
Are you ready to welcome the cutest bundle of fluff you've ever seen in your life? Meet Puppy, a 1-year-old chow chow, collie, golden retriever mix who was found terrified and roaming the streets of the South before SCCR took him in. He may have had a rocky start, but let us assure you, he's come a loooong way since then.Puppy's got a strategy when it comes to meeting humans. Step 1: approach them with a wagging tail and inquisitive sniffs. Step 2: assess the situation, and if a petting hand approaches, execute an expert retreat! Step 3: entice humans to dispense treats in exchange for trust. Step 4: allow special Puppy belly rub (with his foster parents, he's become a belly-rub connoisseur, with a hint of reluctance and a dramatic flair.) Who knew belly rubs could be both a pleasure and an art form?Let's talk about Puppy's skills. He's like a treat-seeking missile, guided by the invisible scent trails of his favorite snacks. He knows his commands - sit, leave it, and touch - and if you wave a treat, he'll be happy to give you a show. He's playful, too; he loves squeaky toys and a good dog wrestle! Puppy does well with all kinds of dogs, as long as they're not too "in his face." In fact, he'd love a home with a fenced-in yard and a confident doggie sibling who can continue to show him the ropes as he grows up. His best bud & foster brother Jaxson can vouch for this. They're like the canine version of dynamic duo, causing double trouble and playing all day long in the yard.Puppy might not be a cuddler (yet!), but he's got ways to show he cares. Waiting outside the bathroom? Check. Tail wagging with enthusiasm? Double check. And the grand finale - letting you pet him and rub his belly without a disappearing act. Bravo! We're looking for a special kind of human for Puppy, someone with a quiet home (probably no small children) who understands that building trust takes patience, time and treats (mostly treats, though). Puppy's journey to normalizing his fears is a tale of triumph waiting for its final chapter. So, if you've got a bit of a doggy whisperer in you, and a love for treats that rivals his own, then you might just be the hero this fluffy adventurer is looking for!PLEASE NOTE: Puppy does have an abnormal gait that he currently manages well without any medication or pain. Anyone interested in Puppy should apply and speak to our medical team for his medical history and records.Interested in adopting this dog? Visit our website (http://www.SecondCityCanineRescue.org) to fill out an application and to find out where this dog may be shown this weekend. We love our dogs. We want happy lives for all of them and are looking for the home that provides the best fit for each dog's individual needs. Please understand that there may be multiple families interested in this dog. Also, please know that the breed mix listed is simply a guess. In most cases, we don't know their background. We encourage you to base your decision on individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on our guess. Please understand, we only adopt our animals out near the Chicagoland area. Questions? Email us at adoptions@sccrescue.org. Hope to see you become part of the SCCR family!
