Story
My name is Holden, but most often my foster family calls me "Mr. Handsome" or "Sweet Boy." I am both of those things, if I do say so myself. One thing you need to know about me is that I had a back problem so now I cannot use my rear legs. This is VERY common in dachshunds. However, it doesn't slow me down one bit. This gorgeous lover boy is a gentle soul with a bark that sounds like bubbles and he’s also a very talented squeaky toy musician. Sometimes foster ma has to confiscate it so she can work! Other than that he’s a quiet guy who loves to cuddle, take sun naps outside on the deck and beg for dinner like any other dog. I may not walk like other dogs do, but I sure do have a happy life and a happy attitude. My foster mom can teach you to take care of me, it's not difficult. It's not any more work than any other dog is, it's just a bit different. Here's what you get when you adopt me: bedroom eyes, soft long hair in a beautiful mahogany color, cuddles galore, and a constant companion. I am a very good and gentle boy! I don't bark very much, but when I do, my foster ma says I sound like I am underwater. I have no idea what that means, but I'll demonstrate when we meet. I need a home with lots of toys, snuggly blankets, and someone willing to deal with a little poop once in a while. My bladder needs to be expressed manually, but you just squeeze my tummy and out it comes. No biggie. Takes 20 seconds and it's super easy to learn. I love meeting new people, and I am very friendly to everyone i meet. DREAM has helped dogs of all capability levels and we believe this guy is really easy to care for. Resource material is available for you to order as well. One of the original board members wrote this extremely helpful book about day to day life with a "down dog".... Honey Have You Squeezed the Dachshund. If you are interested in adopting Holden, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. Holden 's adoption fee is $350.00. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Holden will go to his new home microchipped, altered, heartworm tested, and up to date on vaccinations. Most dogs' veterinary expenses are greater than our adoption fees. DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia. Because we are all volunteers, we can consider applications only within an hour of these areas. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back. Follow us on Instagram , Facebook and Twitter

Story
How delicious is a dapple? Vince is no exception to that hard and fast rule. This boy has personality in SPADES! He is such a cool little wiener dog with a curious way of seeing the world. His previous owners loved him but did not have the means to care for him properly when he suffered an IVDD back injury. Once he came into DREAM, we took Vance in right away to see our specialist vet, who performed surgery on three ruptured discs. Since then, he's gone through physical therapy and his foster mama is a pro at helping him through all of his stretches and exercises, and short of getting him a Pilates reformer, he's gotten the works for sure. While the surgery and therapy have helped him greatly, he will need to be expressed to help him to go potty. When kept on a schedule of expressing, he’s house trained . To help him get around, Vance has a new set of wheels and he absolutely loves rolling around exploring all the world has to offer. He's a friendly little muppet who loves his people and has the gumption to thrive no matter his circumstances. It's impossible to be around him without smiling. Story
Bogie is about the cutest, sweetest little pudding pot you've ever laid eyes on. Bogie is the whole package of an adorable little long haired solid black (except for a little white on his chest) chihuahua. He's 14 lbs of puppy energy and around 18 months old, just a boy in dog years. And two words for you...potty trained.HALLELUJAH – can I get an AMEN? This little guy was found running down the interstate when a good Samaritan saw him. She enlisted the help of her husband and after a lot of work, they were able catch him and take him to a vet. After a thorough examination, x-rays showed that he previously had a broken leg that had healed back well. On a return visit to the vet, with more extensive x-rays, the vet determined that he needed a total hip replacement after his growth plates had closed. So, on January 9th he got a brand new hip. After 12 weeks of crate rest, he was ready to romp, play, chase his foster siblings. He like to patrol the backyard for chipmunks and squirrels. He enjoys chasing birds, butterflies, and play fetch with the ball. Often, when he goes out, he gets the zoomies and circles the yard 3 or 4 times before going potty. This affectionate little guy enjoys going for walks on a leash, wrestling with his siblings, playing tug with a rope and all the lap time he can get. He is learning that car rides are fun but highway noises still startle him. Bogie-boy is not a big kisser but he loves to be touched by his family (especially having you rub those gorgeous ears). This little guy likes his crate, or being free to gaze out the windows. Bogie thrives on routine, as most dogs do. He would do best with a fur-sibling and a fenced in yard to run free. Whomever ever gets this lad, will have a friend for life. He is smart, curious, playful and sweet. What more could a person want? If you're interested in sweet baby Bogie, don't wait to fill out an application. If you are interested in adopting Bogie, you can fill out an application right on our website! Story
Right? Can you EVEN with that sweet look on his face? Buddy Ross is a total nugget; we kind of love him - but yeah, we love them alllll, so there's that. Through no fault of his own, Buddy comes to DREAM after his previous owner became unable to care for him. He's been loved his whole life, and he has a lot of love to give. He enjoys playing with toys, and gets on well with other dogs. We aren't sure about cats. Buddy is an Isabella dachshund (silvery blue fur) and like most Isabellas, he has some hair loss aka alopecia. He doesn't take medicine for it, but would need sun protection like anyone else if he were exposed to the elements. He'll also want a little doggo sweater in the colder weather. His previous owner used to put Skin-So-Soft on him which he responded well to. He's accustomed to using wee-pads to do his biznezz, but we're working on getting him used to the idea of fertilizing the grass instead of going inside. If you're looking for a friendly, low-key, playful companion look no further than Buddy Ross. More info and photos coming soon! Complete an application right online. If you are interested in adopting Buddy Ross, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. Buddy Ross's adoption fee is $350. Story
Ella Grace is a 6 ½ year old sweet little long haired red beauty! She gets along great with people and other dogs. Ella will thrive in a family that has another small dog for her to play with. She also loves entertaining herself playing with her toys which her foster dad says is really cute to watch. She adores being held and cuddled. Ella will prance around the door when she wants to go outside to go potty. As long as she is taken out on a schedule and upon her “dancing around the door” request, she’s totally potty trained. Ella enjoys daily leash walks and loves to greet people she meets with some barking. But hey, she IS a Dachshund and she likes to be heard! Once they extend a hand for her to sniff she’s totally fine with anybody she meets. But if Ella sees a squirrel or a cat while out on a walk, you better make sure you have a tight hold on the leash because her big prey drive kicks into overdrive! Families with cats are definitely not a match for Ella! Sweet Ella has had some health challenges which all can be easily managed. She had a bladder stone that has now been removed. The good news, this type of stone can be prevented from forming by feeding her a particular type of kibble readily available from your vet or online delivery service. Easy - Peasy!! She also has a history of seizures that were left untreated before she came to DREAM. Ella is under the care of a specialist that has tweaked her medication she takes twice a day to keep the seizures at bay. The seizures are now to the point of being mild, short, and not very often. Seizures are definitely manageable with medication and regular check ins with the vet which can typically be done by phone. If you are interested in adopting Ella Grace, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. Ella Grace's adoption fee is $xxx. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds.
