Chewy's Favorite Thing:
Making new friends.
Chewy has never met a stranger. Whether it's another dog or a new person, he simply assumes they're there to be his friend. His happy, social personality makes him a joy to take anywhere.
A Gentle Soul with a Silly Side
Chewy is the perfect combination of laid-back and lovable. He's content lounging around the house, riding along on car trips, or quietly keeping you company throughout the day. While he's mostly a relaxed couch potato, he has just enough goofy personality to keep life entertaining.
One of his foster's favorite quirks is that if Chewy decides he doesn't want to go in a certain direction on a walk, he'll simply sit down like a bowling ball and refuse to budge. His stubborn little protest is impossible not to laugh at.
A Few Things to Know:
-House trained
-Crate trained
-Comes when called by his name or a whistle
-Loves other dogs
-Cats are unknown but would likely do well based on his easygoing temperament
-Good with children
-Low energy level
-Friendly with everyone he meets
-May need a little decompression time in a new home
-Can be stubborn at times
-Loves greeting every person and dog he sees
-Chewy came to us with a severe bacterial skin infection that has completely resolved. To help keep his skin healthy, he'll likely need weekly baths with a medicated or antifungal shampoo. Thankfully, he's excellent during bath time and takes it all in stride.
-Chewy spent his entire life eating table food, so he's become a bit of a picky eater. He happily eats his kibble when it's mixed with healthy additions like chicken and rice, venison, or other lean meats.
-Chewy has cataracts in both eyes. He can currently see well and gets around without difficulty. His cataracts may remain stable for the rest of his life, but adopters should be aware there is a possibility they could progress over time and eventually affect his vision. If that happens, dogs generally adapt exceptionally well with a loving, supportive family.
-Requires regular grooming to keep his coat looking its best

Three Words That Describe Chewy Best:
❤️ Low-Key
❤️ Good-Natured
❤️ Happy
Foster Location:
Holcombe, WI
Meet & Greet Availability:
Chewy is not currently available for meet-and-greets outside his foster's area.
Chewy spent his entire life with one family before they made the heartbreaking decision to surrender him when they could no longer care for him. Despite losing the only home he'd ever known, Chewy hasn't let that change the way he sees the world. He still greets everyone with kindness, trusts people wholeheartedly, and simply wants someone to love.
His future family should know they'll be adopting a dog with a few manageable special needs, but they'll also be bringing home one of the sweetest, most grateful companions imaginable. Chewy's weekly baths, special meal toppers, and potential future vision changes are small considerations compared to the unconditional love, loyalty, and gentle companionship he offers every single day.
If you're looking for a devoted best friend who asks for little more than a soft place to nap, a few extra cuddles, and someone to love forever, Chewy is waiting to meet you.
