He'll explore but come back to check in every couple of minutes. He was raised with another dog so he can be part of a household with other canines. A program launched to make an impactful difference for our partner shelters in Texas facing the overpopulation of animals with limited resources and low adoption rates. We are excited to help these southern gems find loving forever homes to call their own! A Note from the Foster: Princess Shortcake is an adorable Dachsund mix that is short and oh so sweet! She is really coming out of her shell and has been getting more comfortable every day. She stands by the door when she has to go potty, and does great in a crate overnight and when we leave the house. She is very curious and wants to be around her people. If you're looking for a walking buddy, Princess is your girl-but she also loves a good nap on the couch. She's not much of a cuddler but is very happy sleeping near you. Princess is great with our kids (9 and 7) but isn't very interested in our resident dogs. She has recently started to show interest in playing with them, but gets very protective around her food. Because of this, she would probably do best as the only dog in the home. Aside from that she is as sweet as can be and has been a joy around every human she's met! When she gets excited she gets the zoomies, which are even cuter on those little legs. Princess would make a great companion and is ready for her forever home!

Located in Tennessee but can be transported to you through Rescue Riders. This girl was brought in with babies when her owner couldn't take care of her. She was not socialized very well so will need some work. She will need a very patient person to get her to come out of her shell. She was kept outside so she has no house manners, nor has she been with cats. She does do well with dogs her size and seems to like to play with them. She deserves a new chance to be a loved dog and companion. She will take a lot of time and investment but deserves a chance!
