Welcome Drummer to CCPAL Rescue. Drummer is an 8-year-old wire-haired Dachshund. He was adopted out by us 4 years ago. He was 4 at the time. He has been loved and bonded deeply to the woman that adopted him. He would love another home with a quieter home that would allow him to get the attention he needs and deserves. He has found himself in need of a new forever home. His owner has been put in hospice and can no longer care for him. The immediate family cannot care for him so we stepped up and will find this precious boy his new forever home. He is trying to adjust to the Rescue again. The treats from our friends in New Jersey helped him today along with all the nice gifts. His owner has been put in hospice and can no longer care for him. They can easily live to be 17 years old. If you love the breed, you know how loyal and bonded these dogs are to their person. They are a single dog person dog. They may love other people but they are loyal to one. He sheds some but not over the top. He is a good weight and his teeth are not too bad for his age. You can tell he was cared for and that he is disoriented with his new arrangement at the Rescue. He is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is $400 and transport is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states. When meeting new people, he tends to tuck himself under a table or behind a chair at first — it’s his cozy “thinking spot” while he decides if you’re trustworthy. Give him an hour or two, and suddenly you’ve got a happy, wiggly, affectionate little shadow who wants nothing more than to curl up next to you on the couch. Once Almond warms up, he’s a total delight. He loves plushie toys (and yes, he’s a proud toy destroyer), enjoys playing with other dogs, and is a quiet, gentle soul who rarely barks. He takes treats with the softest little nibble and is a champion snuggler. Almond is fully potty trained, not a single accident or marking since arriving in rescue, and he can potty on leash, so a fenced yard isn’t required. He rides well in the car, gets along great with other dogs, and would thrive with a confident canine buddy to help him feel secure in new situations. He sleeps through the night in his crate and is almost there with daytime crate training. He’ll whine a bit at first but settles quickly, and he’ll even go in on his own when he’s ready for a nap. Location: Champlin, MN Pepper is a curious girl who loves to explore, though she is a little cautious around new sounds at first. She’s pretty good with other dogs. She is making awesome progress with training for her age. Crate training is going really well, she is learning to sit and come, and we are working on basic manners and potty training. She has puppy energy and friendly, and gets along great with children. She is looking for a patient home that will keep cheering her on as she learns and grows.
