Story
FROSTY AND HIS BEST FRIENDS PLAN TO BE AT A MEET AND GREET SUNDAY, DECEMBER 7 12:30 -2:30 AT PET EVOLUTION ON 1074 GRAND IN ST. PAUL. COME AND CUDDLE AND MAYBE GO HOME WITH A FRIEND FOR LIFE. Frosty and his siblings were surrendered to PUP because the owner, who lived in a remote area, could not afford the pups and felt she could not find suitable adopters. The mommy dog is a much loved 30# ‘low rider’ with short legs (pictured). A partner organization agreed to pay for her to be spayed if PUP found homes for the puppies. The owner did a good job of socializing the pups and they arrived in good health. They are well socialized, playful and are enjoying the good life. Frosty looks like he is going to be a shortie like his mommy and we expect he will be a mid-sized dog when he is full grown. We did DNA testing on one little boy from the litter, but the results won’t be in until mid December. Dogs from the area who have DNA testing often have 20 or more breeds and nearly always have some shepherd, husky, cattle dog, and even the largest pooches have a bit of Chihuahua. We strongly suspect Frosty has some Doxi and maybe some cattle dog in this mix. (Rumor has it that there is a male cattle dog on a neighboring ranch.) The early months are when puppy learns the social skills needed to be a skilled dog in dealing with other dogs and a good citizen in the human world. Adopters should be committed to getting puppy into lots of new and different human social situations, hearing vacuums, trucks, and rattling garbage cans, meeting people who are clapping, laughing, with hats, tools, bikes and skate boards. AND puppy needs many opportunities to meet and greet dogs of all shapes, sizes and dispositions. Just sharing a home with another dog is not as much doggie socializing as puppy needs. If good canine social skills are not learned and maintained during these early months, it will be very difficult to ever master them. Puppy play dates, trips to the pet store, puppy socialization classes and later, obedience classes are particularly important. If all this doggie time and involvement seems like a good idea, you are up for a puppy! As always, a tired dog is a good dog. Puppy has been vet checked, (he is the smallest and weighed 4.9# on 12-1) vaccinated and de-wormed. He will need two additional puppy vaccinations plus rabies at the adopter’s expense. We do place puppies outside the metro area if a firm plan for the alter surgery is in place; we do not ship. His required alter surgery is covered by the adoption fee if it is done at 6 months at the PUP clinic. We require that he be altered at 6 months. If you are at least 21 years old and everyone in your household is on board with adopting a puppy, CALL 651-645-4370 between 7:00 am and 9:30 pm and we will return your call within 24 hours. We are pretty slow at responding to e-mail. Renters must provide proof that you are allowed to have a puppy. If you currently have a companion dog or cat please be prepared to provide a vet reference prior to adoption if requested.

Story
Rosie is 4 years old and house and leash trained. She is up to date on shots and fixed. She would do best as an only dog and my advice is no children. She like to sleep under the covers and love to ride in the car. If you would like to know more or want to adopt her please call Dorenda at 256-608-1242.

Good with dogs, Needs experienced adopter,
Story
Located in Tennessee but can be transported to you through Rescue Riders. This girl was brought in with babies when her owner couldn't take care of her. She was not socialized very well so will need some work. She will need a very patient person to get her to come out of her shell. She was kept outside so she has no house manners, nor has she been with cats. She does do well with dogs her size and seems to like to play with them. She deserves a new chance to be a loved dog and companion. She will take a lot of time and investment but deserves a chance!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Giblet is a velvety little wiener boy with the soul of a poet, the heart of a stage-five snuggler, and the body of a furry baked potato. His birthday is 5/25/19, which feels fitting, because this is a dog who was absolutely born to be adored. He follows his person like a tiny shadow with commitment issues — if you ever lose track of him, just look down because he is almost certainly touching you in some way. Sometimes he’s asleep on your foot. Sometimes he’s pressed against your leg. Sometimes he’s fully draped across your lap, snout tucked and content like he’s discovered the meaning of life. Giblet craves touch more than anything in the world. He burrows under blankets, under dogs, under people, under anything remotely blanket-shaped. When the new fosters arrived and had their welcome baths, he immediately burrowed under the Yorkie puppy like a little dachshund submarine. He sleeps against you in bed, he naps across you at your desk, and he nestles into you on the couch like he’s clocking in for his dream job: professional snuggler. Despite his deep feelings, he’s not fearful. He’s friendly with new people, just a little cautious at first — and then suddenly he’s in their lap, soaking up attention like a sponge. He’s gentle, sweet, quiet (so far), and looks at his person with those enormous hound eyes like he’s known you forever. He’s still working on potty training. He knows he’s supposed to go outside, and he was doing really well… until the weather betrayed him. He is currently staging a dramatic protest against going potty in the cold, which is extremely on-brand for a dachshund. He was just neutered, so a little marking is happening, but he’s headed in the right direction. Giblet is not an outdoorsy boy. He prefers short trips outside where he stays within five feet of his person at all times. Because he doesn’t yet reliably go potty on a leash, a fenced yard will make things easier, though he’d probably never dream of wandering away — he’s far too busy staying glued to his human. He does well with other dogs and happily piles onto them like a living heated blanket. He can be left alone with other dogs, but with people, he really wants company. Nights are for snuggling, not crating, according to him. He was fine in his crate for a couple nights, but by night three he made his stance very clear: absolutely not. He sleeps beautifully with his humans and burrows right under the covers like a little hot dog in a bun. Giblet is loyal, cuddly, gentle, and deeply loving. He needs a home where he can be someone’s lap dog — truly, wholeheartedly, proudly. Someone who wants a constant cuddle companion, someone who appreciates a dog who looks at you like you hung the moon, and someone who isn’t bothered by a warm little sausage wedging himself under your blankets. For the right person, Giblet won’t just be a pet. He’ll be your devoted little shadow, your bedtime snuggle buddy, and your endlessly loyal best friend. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. Why? Because Minnesota needs him. Humanity needs him. And frankly, his cuteness levels should be declared an essential public service. A little sausage with big dreams. A walking giggle. A pocket-sized comedian ready to melt the snow off a whole Midwestern winter. This boy isn’t just cute—he’s dangerously cute. Your heart? Gone. Your lap? Permanently occupied. Your bed? Now legally his. (Don’t fight it.) He will lighten your life like a lightning bug on steroids—zooming, glowing, wobbling, and wiggling his way right into your soul.
