He came from a hoarding situation where he did not get much one-on-one attention, petting, or handling, so new experiences can be scary for him at first. When picked up, he may tremble, and sudden movements can make him uneasy, but with patience and kindness, his true personality shines through. Abhi does best with a soft-spoken, calm person who understands that trust takes time. Once he feels safe, he is incredibly sweet. If you place him on the couch or bed while you are nearby, he will happily stay close, and when he warms up, he will roll over to show his belly for gentle rubs. Slow movements and a peaceful environment help him feel comfortable and secure. He is still working on house training and has had a few accidents, so he will need a patient adopter or foster willing to help him learn. Outside, Abhi will potty, but he is nervous and may try to find places to hide, so a doggy playpen or secure area is recommended until he gains confidence. Abhi has met other dogs and a cat. He may initially react if another dog gets too much in his space, but he settles quickly and does well with calm, respectful dogs. He would thrive in a home with a mellow canine companion or as an only dog, and older, considerate children who understand giving him space. Abhi is truly a sweet little guy who just needs time, love, and reassurance to blossom. With patience, he will reward you with quiet companionship and a heart full of gratitude. Abhi is up to date on vaccines. Wag On Inn will arrange for neuter at The Spay and Neuter Center of New Jersey in Holmdel. Adopters must live within driving distance of Holmdel, NJ. His adoption fee is $450. Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. He is currently with our partner rescue in Louisiana and will be landing in a NJ foster home on 1/10. Prancer came to our partner rescue with his brother and has bene learning that the world isn't such a scary place after all. He can be a little timid at first, but once he decides you're his person, he'll stick by your side like a shadow. His happy place? Right next to you (or more accurately on your if you'll let him) Prancer isn't the outdoorsy type- a quick potty break and he's ready to head back inside for couch cuddles. He's a calm, low energy boy who would rather curl up than chase a ball. He's made amazing strides in his foster home. Kennel time used to be tough for him but he sleeps through the night next to his foster siblings kennel. If you're looking for a gentle, loyal companion, Prancer's your guy! Prancer is fixed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. He tested positive for heartworm and has started treatment. We are looking for a foster to complete his treatment here in NJ with 2 visits to our vet at the Barnegat Animal Clinic. His adoption fee is $450. This shy sweetheart ca me from a tough start and is learning that gentle hands and kind voices mean love, not fear. He’s still working on being brave when it’s time to be picked up (his “hide and seek” skills are impressive ), but he’s already offering tiny hand kisses and waggy greetings. Tinley does great with dogs and cats, is doing awesome with potty training, and melts hearts daily with his progress.
