You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Eden is the prettiest girl who is looking for a new home. She's currently with our rescue partner in Louisiana and can travel to NJ if we find her a foster or adopter. For approved adopters, we offer a foster-to adopt trial- giving you and Eden a chance to make sure it's the perfect match before making it official.  Meet Eden- the absolute cutest little wiggle butt you'll ever meet! At just 3 years old this 37lb Dachshund/Heeler mix (with an irresistibly corgi-esque wiggle) is the perfect size for cuddles and fun.  Eden dog and kid friendly, making her an ideal buddy for families and fellow pups alike. Eden's playful spirit and gentle nature shine every day. She has such a sweet personality. Eden is fixed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. She just started her heartworm treatment and is available to come to NJ once completed in March. If we have a foster or adopter who would like to take her sooner, we can continue her treatment in NJ which will entail her taking to our vet for treatment and keeping her calm throughout her treatment. Her adoption fee is $450.    Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training   prior to adoption. After all these dogs have been through they deserve a loving, committed home. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Winnie is a sweet girl who is in need of a new home. She is with our partner rescue in Louisiana and is heading to a NJ foster home on 1/10/26. At just 7 months and 12 pounds, Winnie is the perfect mix of playful energy and cuddle-ready sweetness. This adorable dachshund mix lights up every room she walks into and hasn't met a person (or dog!) she doesn' adore. Winnie loves playing with dogs of all sizes and would thrive in a home with a playful companion or an active family ready to include her in the fun. She's doing great with her housetraining and is learning to walk politely on a leash- just needs a little more practice to perfect her skills. She is still a puppy and full of curiosity and joy. She's affectionate, social and guaranteed to make you smile every day. Winnie  is fixed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. She tested negative for heartworm. Her adoption fee is $550. Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training   prior to adoption. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Mickey is a handsome boy who is looking for a new home. Mickey is currently with one of our sister rescues in Louisiana but hoping to come to NJ soon. We do offer a foster-to-adopt trial to approved adopters.  Mickey is also known as 'lover boy!' He loves pets and attention and snuggling. He is great with other dogs and loves to play. He is housebroken but might mark some at first. He is crate trained as well but will chew so it needs to be a stronger crate. This is still a work in progress. Mickey really loves his people and prefers to be near them. He is playful, loving boy. Mickey is fixed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. He completed treatment for heartworm. His    adoption fee is $550.  Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training   prior to adoption. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Online Adoption Application This girl came from a kill shelter, from what we heard they found her in a trap looking for food.  She does like to eat. LOL.  She is a good girl, we are working on her skin, as she seems to have skin allergies, whether it was from fleas or environment.  Older calm girl, but still has some spunk.  loves to go outside, loves treats and chew toys,  may be a little hard of hearing, but can hear.  Good girl and low maintenance.  Seems to have cataracts, cloudy eyes due to age. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 16, 2025, 1:11 pm

Story
Winnie (listed as Kernel) is a 6-year-old dachshund who recently came up from an unethical breeder in the South and is now living her best foster life in NYC. Once she settled in, she turned into a total velcro lap dog who wants nothing more than to be your shadow, burrow under blankets, and snooze on your legs. She’s low-key, sweet, and ready for a forever home that wants a constant little sidekick.   Personality & Characteristics: Winnie is a gentle, sensitive doxie who bonds hard to “her” person. She follows you from room to room, happily curls up for hours next to you on the couch, and loves to burrow into any blanket she can find. In the apartment she’s calm and easy, more about snuggling than zoomies. Outside, she walks nicely at a relaxed pace and is getting more confident with the city as she learns the routine. She’d do best in a home that appreciates a clingy, affectionate companion dog rather than an independent type.   My foster dog is good with: Dogs: Has seen other dogs out on walks and has been fine/neutral; hasn’t lived with another dog in foster yet, so slow introductions are recommended. Kids: Not formally tested. Would likely do best with adults or dog-savvy, calm older kids who respect her space and small size. Cats: Not tested in foster; unknown.   My foster dog is:   House trained: Mostly house trained with a consistent schedule and regular walks; does well when kept on routine and uses pads when present.  Crate trained: Not currently crated in foster; she settles nicely on a dog bed or couch when left alone for short periods. Shedding: Short coat with normal/light shedding (not hypoallergenic).   3 Keywords for your pup: Velcro Cuddly Low-key   Energy Level (1 = calm, 10 = high energy): 3–4 / 10 – generally calm and low-energy, with small bursts of interest on walks.   Barker? Or Quiet Pup?: Mostly quiet in the apartment; may give a brief alert bark at unfamiliar noises like a typical dachshund, then settles.   Walking Manners: Walks well on leash at a relaxed pace and prefers calmer streets. She’s not a power-walker or big puller; she’s happy to trot along next to you and check in often.   Appetite: Good, steady eater. Enjoys her meals and treats but isn’t frantic about food in foster.   Favorite Things: Being on your lap, following you from room to room, burrowing under blankets, napping on the couch, gentle pets, and quiet time with her person.   Commands/Tricks: Still learning basic cues; currently responding to her name and daily routines, and settling nicely when guided. She’s more of a routine/relationship dog than a “trick dog,” and is picking things up as she builds trust. She knows "no" and understands cues     ALL adoptions require a completed application and final contract. The application can be found at  WaldosRescue.org  and once you are approved to adopt you will be put in touch with the foster to see if it’s a good match. We are a RESCUE not a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We are unable to contact every applicant for every dog.  We will select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dogs needs. Waldos Rescue Pen is a 501c3 whose primary focus is rescuing dogs from the euthanasia list from high kill shelters throughout the United States and Korea. ##2577575##
