Sonny and his brother Oscar, are new to us but this is what we can tell you. These cuties were given up by a couple who were moving and told the shelter they loved them but they could not take them with them since they could not find housing that would allow dogs. They also explained that they had a child with severe disabilities that they needed to focus on. The couple had named them and appeared to be upset turning them into the shelter. Current Location: Strasburg, VA Hello! My name is Lucy! I'm thought to be a Dachshund mix about 2 years old and I currently weigh about 31 pounds - though I am still working on getting my post baby shape back! I'm a sweet gal who enjoys the people I've met so far and I get along very well with the other dogs in the house. I especially enjoy snuggling and will jump up on the couch or recliner to lay next to people. I'm house trained, walk well on a leash and do fine in a crate though my foster family doesn't crate me anymore since I've proven to be trustworthy when left alone at night. I'm microchipped and current on my vaccines and monthly preventatives. I do still need to be spayed, which should happen the first week in January. I am heartworm positive so I need to receive that treatment before I can be adopted and should be able to go to my new home by the end of January. I’m looking for my forever family! Is that with you? Current Location: Seven Valleys, PA Meet Donner. The very best boy, no exaggeration. Donner is a four month old Dachshund Lab mix with a sleek black coat and the kind of charm that sneaks up on you. He loves other dogs, lives for zoomies, and takes toy time seriously. His favorite toy right now is a giant Christmas pickle, which feels important to mention. When playtime ends, he happily switches gears and lounges in for pets and cuddles. He does well with cats and mostly ignores them. He is crate trained, whines briefly, then settles and sleeps through the night with no accidents. His potty training is going great. He loves the snow, learns quickly, and redirects easily when he wants to chew, as long as toys are nearby. Donner is playful, cuddly, and bright. He has that perfect puppy balance and a sweet, easy nature that makes him a joy to have around. He is going to be an incredible addition to a lucky home.
