Story
My name is Sweet Pea and I am truly a sweet little pea!  My story began about 5-6 years ago when I came to live with a family who had way too many dogs.  They could not afford to spay and neuter and so a lot of us had puppies over and over.  Now I am with Critter Cavalry Rescue  and they promised me a better family life ahead.  I am a Dachshund/Terrier mix and I weigh 22 lbs and could probably walk a few pounds off this Spring and Summer with an active and fun person that would adopt me.  I was terrified beyond words when I first moved from my overcrowded home to this nice new foster house.  But soon I have realized I am safe and well fed and that these people are very stable and will get me to the vet when I need to go.  I am housebroken, ride just fine in a car and I am going to love to sit on your lap and make you feel loved and cherished by ME!  I do not like to walk on a leash.  I can learn if you are patient to teach me but I think I initially need to go to a home with a fenced yard and then learn how to walk nicely there in the backyard.  It is not biggie but right now it kind of isn’t a fav thing to do.  Other than the leash, I am pretty perfect!  I am healthy and I love to give kisses and adoring looks to my fav humans.  If you want to invite me to come live with you please email ccrnewengland@gmail.com   I am ready to pack my bags! PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.April 28, 2024, 4:57 pm

Story
My name is Darla and I am a very deep thinking, calm, sweet, lap dog that is looking for the perfect laidback home.  I am a Dachshund/Terrier mix that is only 20 pounds and guessed to be 6 years old.  I have lived with a lot of dogs in a home that was not able to care for us properly.  We were fortunately surrendered to Critter Cavalry Rescue so that we could all find better and more stable families to love us.  I am a tad shy when I first meet new people but I sure do blossom and get more perky when I feel safe with you.  I am pretty good on a leash and I am housebroken and crate trained.  My foster mom says I have the sweetest face and eyes that look in to your soul.  Well you know what?  I am searching for the right soul to make me their own and them to be MINE too!  I am the perfect size for so many lifestyles.  I don’t bark and I ride perfectly fine in a car.  Let’s go places this Summer!  I am ready are you!?  Send an email asking about me to ccrnewengland@gmail.com  Let’s be “family” real soon. Story
This little pretty chocolate dappled girl is called Mazie and goodness what a cracker jack she is.  Don’t for minute let those green eyes and chocolate marbled coat fool you to think she is gentle or easy.  She is the CEO of dogs and will run the show at your house if given the chance.  Mazie is 20 pounds and 9 months old.  She is a breed mix of Dachshund and Basset Hound we are told.  Her pics make her look big but she is a “tiny but mighty” little girl.  Mazie is not a fan of any other female dogs in her life or around her.  We don’t know where that came from but the dislike is there so we say…don’t ignore the warning.  She is great with big male dogs, not good with other small dogs or cats, but loves people deeply and wants to be around them.  She needs a fenced yard because she is a runner as most Dachshunds can be and she needs to be able to run and play and get her energy out daily.  Older children would be better for her and she is crate trained, 90% housebroken and she adores going for walks; a very good girl on a leash we can say.  She is beautiful but a “tad” bit complicated, which is why we have outlined the Likes and Dislikes of this girl to a TEE!  We want the right and perfect home and there are lots out there that can give her that.  Tiny but Mighty little Mazie is ready for a home NOW!  Please email us at Critter Cavalry Rescue : ccrnewengland@gmail.com  Tell us where you live when you email asking for information and an application. Story
Hi, it’s nice to meet you, I’m Diablo, a 17 lb., dachshund/chi mix. I don’t remember much about my former life, but I’m glad to be with A Home of Their Own Animal Rescue to find my forever home. I’m a little shy around new people given all the changes I’ve been through. I’ve been in a couple of foster homes before, and I discovered that I feel more comfortable around adults and older children. Younger children scare me with their quick, sometimes unpredictable movements. I am looking for a forever home that is patient and loving. I believe I’m housetrained, but I may need a refresher. Also, I’d need some help feeling comfortable on a leash or find a home with an enclosed yard where I can exercise and do my business. I like crates because they feel so cozy and safe. That said, I may need some coaxing in the beginning to get out of my crate and into the world. I’m a sensitive guy with a big heart once I trust someone. Are you that forever trustworthy person I’m looking for?! ##2039331##

This sweet young boy came to us from rural Georgia to find his forever home. He would love to find an adopter who enjoys a daily walk or two and lots of play time. Being an active boy, Harvey is up for any adventure! Like his gal pal, Harley, he is ok with cats, but he likes to play/chase and some cats may not be fans. While Harvey generally likes people, he is a little unsure of men and tends to prefer the company of women. He also can be dog selective - except for his sister. Harvey would rather have all of the attention for himself and would do best as your one and only. Story
Meet Erin. Erin was rescued with her mom and siblings from a heartbreaking scenario in Chester, SC. Their owner, grappling with the loss of her husband to deportation and facing severe flooding on her property due to excessive rain, found herself unable to care for her pets. Sadly, the dogs were being kept outside in a pen that became submerged in water and debris, The owner called Animal Control for help and 9 dogs were removed from the property.  With local shelters already overwhelmed, multiple rescues stepped up to help and Worthy Dog took Erin and her sister, Kira, into our care. Both pups have settled into their foster homes where they are experiencing the comforts of home for the first time. From cozy beds and nourishing meals to daily walks and human companionship, these girls are fully embracing home life. The pups are only about 7-8 months old and are adapting quickly. They are quickly learning new skills like navigating stairs, mastering crate and house training, and reveling in the delights of toys — simple pleasures they had never experienced before. Erin is being fostered in a home with her foster mom, Cari, and three small pups. She has done amazing with training and we’ve learned how smart and motivated she is. Like all puppies, she has spikes of energy and playfulness, but she does very well with structure and direction. We checked in with her foster mom, Carrie, for an update: FOSTER MOM UPDATE - 3/15/24 “After only two weeks, she fully understands the ‘sit’ and ‘wait’ commands, and we are working on the ‘down’ command. She goes quietly into her crate every time, and has started to voluntarily go in to take naps, and will lay in there quietly while I’m working/on calls. She has really learned that crate = relaxation and downtime, not punishment and me leaving. She’s improving with her potty training too. She understands that she should potty outside and has a favorite spot, but will sneak off and go inside if you’re not paying attention. Considering her age and having zero prior training, she’s way ahead of what I would expect. When she first arrived, I noticed she was protective of her food and space around the other dogs when I fed her in the crate. We made some adjustments and I stopped feeding meals and high-value treats in the crate and she stopped protecting the area. I started making her sit for her food bowl and not releasing her until it touched the floor. I also practiced touching her and interrupting her meals to make her sit again to have her food back. I also would like to stress that the aggression was never once directed at me. This has worked wonders and she can now eat with my dogs near her dish and she doesn't react at all. I think it was just a reaction from being housed with so many other dogs and having to battle it out for meals. She’s young and quickly worked through it. Erin has started to find her voice and will bark at my pups if they’re not playing with her. She loves to go and do. I took her on a little hike at Lake Norman and not only does she love a hike, but she was such a brave girl and got into the water! We also went hiking with a couple of friends and their big dogs. She was nervous at first about their size but warmed up really fast and was leading the pack by the end.  She loves to hide her favorite toys in random places - in blankets, behind pillows, behind the blinds, and, my least favorite, in the water bowl. ‍&#226&#153&#128&#239&#184&#143 Overall I think Erin leans more toward the submissive side and is very much a people-pleaser. She takes correction extremely well from both me and my dogs. For her age, she is a great balance of fun, playful, and full of zoomies but then will settle down and take a nap on her own. She can be a bit silly as well. She's also pretty brave. We joke that she's really into parkour because she will jump from one end of the couch to the other, to the ottoman, off the side of the couch, run into the other room, back, and repeat lol. She's not lacking it's personality and her family will have so many laughs and fun times with her. Erin’s favorite things include quality time with her people and adventure. She loves to snuggle with her human on the couch after a big outing or some playtime. I think as long as she has these 2 things, she will be a very happy girl. She is also an absolute HOARDER not just with toys, but anything left on the floor. No sock, shoe, or slipper is safe, but surprisingly she hasn’t been destructive with them. She just likes to have them This girl needs an owner with an active lifestyle. I wouldn’t place her with young kids because she is excitable and does the playful pupping nipping/mouthing and has sharp teeth. She's been great with dogs of all sizes and would love a playmate to entertain her, but I think she could also be ok as an only dog for an active family. She has been able to learn independence way better than expected given her background. I think Erin could be a great candidate for somebody's first dog because of her personality and trainability. She really is one of the best puppies I've fostered. Coming from her situation, I was expecting a dog who would struggle to be alone and would be a little trickier to do basic training with, but she surpassed every single one of my expectations. She brings me so much happiness and so, so many laughs. I can't wait to see her as the center of somebody's world and she absolutely deserves to be that. She is going to bring soooo much joy to her future family!” ****** Need a little puppy fun in your life? Erin is your girl. FOSTER MOM UDPATE: 3/15/24 “Kira is a spunky, cute, and affectionate girl who is friendly with all.  Her face always has a permanent smile and her tail is always wagging. She is a medium-energy dog who loves to do zoomies in the yard and play with toys, but will also cuddle up on a bed, blanket, or your lap for nap time. Just watching her makes you smile because she seems so happy with life.  She enjoys the outdoors and has a passion for sticks. She sleeps in a pen with her foster brother, Biscuit, and has had no accidents in the pen. She is doing well with potty training and has only had a few accidents here and there. I have left her loose in the house during the day for up to an hour so far with nothing destroyed. Inside, the only things she seems drawn to outside of her toys are socks and slippers.  Kira will engage with our dogs and wants to play but is respectful of them if they just want to walk around. She does well on leash and we have started walking every day to get her comfortable. She doesn’t love the car and may pant after a longer drive, but she’s calm in the car. and just needs more exposure. Overall she is a joy and we love having her!” ****** Need a little puppy fun in your life? Kira is your girl. She's done great with training and will make a wonderful pup companion and pack member. Including pup cups from Starbucks - she's heard about those and is up for trying them! Quality kibble and a cushy dog bed are on her wish list as well.    But you know what? She's out of the puppy yips and as an experienced dog in her prime, she knows what's most important: Being safe and loved and under her own roof. In exchange, she promises adoring gazes and tail wags and loyal companionship. What do you say? Is that what you're looking for?
