Story
Mr Personality here! 😎 I am an adorable happy guy with good looks and dazzling eyes! I am front and center and greet everyone happily! I was dropped on a country road and promptly walked a half mile of a gravel driveway to scratch on their door and told them to let me in! I am a fun, loving guy with so much zest for a good time! I am not the protective dachshund, I am the Playboy Bassett! I love the other dogs and the foster home and really enjoy playing with any that will return the fun… from Greta Gremlin a 20# boston terrier also needing a home, to the 90# pit mix that cant keep up with me zooming under his body 😂. I love car rides, cats kind of intimidate me so I respect them, kids are great, men and women are all good, anybody who wants to play with me and tell me how gosh darn cute I am! If I’m getting scolded for doing something I shouldn’t have been, I flop on my back and move my paws up and down as if praying for mercy. It tends to work.😂 I don’t like being crated and I am good when I am left out. I will burst out the door and run down the street so that you have to chase me, so I am now required to have a fenced yard. It’s amazing how fast these short little legs can go! Foster mom has gotten me house trained, teaching me to back up at the doorway, and takes me on a daily 1 mile pack walk with six other dogs. I love to check out small dark places like empty cabinets and washing machine machines. Turns out I am heartworm positive… I have started my antibiotics and at the end of May I will require the first of three injections to kill the Heartworms. Adopter will need to follow the vet’s treatment schedule to make sure I get rid of them so they do not end up killing me. I need to be kept calm during June and July when the biggest treatments will be given as that is protocol. I could be easily amused with a ton of enrichment toys! I am very treat motivated! Contact irondawgs13@gmail.com for adoption application.

Story
Meet Roxy! Tangy like your favorite salsa 🌶,, and as sweet as a celebratory birthday cake 🎂,,. Roxy is truly delectable. Roxy is a small, adorable dog with a large, delightful, and bold personality! She adores meeting new people (preferably adults and older children) and, when petted, wriggles her tushie with delight. She enjoys the company of most dogs and would welcome a meet and greet with other dogs that reside in the household. Roxy has demonstrated impeccable house manners - that is, she sleeps quietly through the night, is not destructive, and does not show signs of separation anxiety. She loves to explore, whether it be indoors or outdoors, yet also enjoys quiet time simply cuddling and resting. She is a very entertaining gal who looks forward to a foster or an adopter who will provide her the love, warmth and comforts of a home that she so richly deserves. So, c'mon and add a delicious Roxy spice to your life, complemented with an abundance of sweetness, and see for yourself all the love and joy she has to offer. Questions About this Animal? Name: Phoenix          Best Guess for Breed:  Dachshund and beagle mix Best Guess for Age:   6 years as of May 2026        SEX: Female   Approximate Weight:   36 lbs as of 4/28/26; needs to lose 5-10 lbs   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:   South Carolina shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get up here.   Phoenix is Looking For:   Her new start! She landed in the shelter through no fault at her own, 5-10 lbs overweight at 36 lbs and with double cherry eye. She's ready to blow off that weight, get rid of the cherry eyes (we will do that before she's transported to the DC area), and rise from the metaphorical ashes of her old life!   She's looking for her forever family, humans who will take her on all those sniffy walks (that beagle nose!) and adventures and give her all the snuggles she wants. (She needs to be on a hugs not treats protocol for a bit!) In exchange she promises adoring gazes and loyal companionship for all her days. What do you say? Will those days be spent by your side? What My Foster Says About Me:   We will update this once she has spent time in foster care. Please contact Diane Pedulla (dianep@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.small sweetie seeking fresh start and love! LIL PEEP NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Come meet Lil Peep and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (05/10) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Rockville, MD (5154 Nicholson Ln Kensington, MD 20895)!   Name:  Lil Peep       Best Guess for Breed:   Dachshund and terrier mix     Best Guess for Age:   3 years as of April 2026      SEX:   Male   Approximate Weight:   21 lbs   Gets Along With:  Other dogs!  We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:  DC area foster home   Special adoption considerations: Lil Peep is a truly Lucky Dog. He tested positive for heartworms, but landed in a place where heartworm treatment is provided! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. We are happy to discuss where in the treatment process this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!   Lil Peep is Looking For:  His forever home! This young boy is eagerly looking forward to having his own humans for sniffy walks and all the adventures they can dream up. And dog school so he can show how super smart he is. And then pets and cuddles and belly scritches at the end of a fun day together. And he'll want quality kibble and a cushy dog bed. Most of all, though, he wants to know he's safe and loved. In exchange he promises all the adoring gazes and happy tail wags he's storing up, and loyal companionship for all his days. What do you say? Is he the one you see by your side?
