Somewhere in a sleepy Alabama town, a tiny-legged blur of fur was spotted zooming across the shelter yard. Was it a squirrel? A tumbleweed? No, friends—it was Foxy, the dachshund mix with the heart of a lion and the legs of a potato. Don’t let the low clearance fool you—this girl can move. She’s crate trained, mostly potty trained, and food motivated (meaning: will do anything for snacks). She doesn’t really understand toys yet, but she’s trying her best and we believe in her. One small step for dog, one wobbly-legged leap for dachshund-kind. She’s currently perfecting the art of leash walking, stair climbing, and professional-level cuddling. She has a best friend named Roger, with whom she plots zoomie missions and snack heists. She’s also got some solid opinions—if something looks weird or suspicious, she’ll tell you, loudly, but only for a moment. Then it’s back to being adorable. If you’re looking for a lovable, low-riding comedian who will keep you on your toes (or at least your couch), Foxy might just be your soulmate. Fill out an application today and adopt Foxy before she outruns us all! Foxy would do best in a home with a fenced yard and a larger dog to play with.Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family. Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.Foster Program: Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.
