Story
To learn more about Posey, please get in touch with lostdogjudy@gmail.com Posey is a sweet girl looking for a special adopter. She is a small dog afraid of the big world that she lives in. Posey is very timid around people and will visibly shake when approached. She requires a quiet adult-only household. A confident dog sibling around her size (15 lbs) would be the best for her to acclimate to her surroundings. She interacts with the resident chihuahua in her foster home and has shown interest in playing but hasn't quite got the hang of it yet. Posey likes to explore in the fenced-in yard but doesn't have any leash skills for walking. She gets very scared when a human holds her leash. She is pee pad trained inside and needs continued work on going potty outside. Posey loves snoozing in a comfy dog bed or looking out the window from the back of the couch. She is getting more active after several weeks as she gets more comfortable. Her adopter needs to have patience to allow her to adapt at her own pace. She is generally well-behaved when left home alone but has occasionally reached into the trash can to remove some irresistible items. She is a quiet dog only barking occasionally when something outside catches her attention. If this special girl matches you, please email lostdogjudy@gmail.com.

Please contact Nancy Logan (nancyl@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.stubby legged cutie ISO fresh start and love! HOWARD NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Come meet Howard and other great adoptable dogs this Saturday (May 18th) from 12-2 pm at Dogma Bakery in Arlington (2772 S Arlington Mill Dr, Arlington, VA 22206)!   Name: Howard        Best Guess for Breed: Dachshund and terrier mix Best Guess for Age:  2 years as of April 2024      SEX:  Male Approximate Weight:  15 lbs   Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats but he can be tested.    Currently Living at:  DC area foster home   Special adoption considerations: Because Howard is shy, he needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog. Due to his shy personality, we do not recommend  a home with children under the age of 12. Extra patient and loving humans are definitely needed.  Howard is Looking For:  His forever family! This super cute elongated boy ended up in the shelter due to no fault of his own. He's looking forward to his new chapter, eagerly awaiting all the sniffy walks he will get with his new humans - he's awfully good at keeping up on those short stubby legs - romps in the park, and all the adventures they can dream up. He's out of the puppy yips and as a wise, experienced dog, knows what's most important in life: Being safe and loved and under his own roof, and that's right at the top of his wish list.  In exchange, he offers all the adoring gazes and happy tail wags he's stockpiling at the shelter - lots of laughs at his doggy antics - and loyal companionship for all his days. What do you say? Can you see Howard down there by your ankles? What My Foster Says About Me:  Howard loves his people. He's overall a very easy dog. He enjoys his play time but also enjoys winding down and snuggling. He follows me around and just wants to cuddle. He also does well with my dog. He does well in his crate and with his house training. He is shy about going outside and around strangers.  Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:  The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online   at   bit.ly/adoptaluckydog  .   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament. Thank you for contacting Lucky Dog Animal Rescue and helping to save a life!  Please visit us online at      www.luckydoganimalrescue.org   .    BE A FOSTER!!!     Fosters make it possible for Lucky Dog Animal Rescue to save and care for homeless and abandoned dogs! To learn about fostering, please contact fostering@luckydoganimalrescue.org! Story
My name is Darla and I am a very deep thinking, calm, sweet, lap dog that is looking for the perfect laidback home.  I am a Dachshund/Terrier mix that is only 20 pounds and guessed to be 6 years old.  I have lived with a lot of dogs in a home that was not able to care for us properly.  We were fortunately surrendered to Critter Cavalry Rescue so that we could all find better and more stable families to love us.  I am a tad shy when I first meet new people but I sure do blossom and get more perky when I feel safe with you.  I am pretty good on a leash and I am housebroken and crate trained.  My foster mom says I have the sweetest face and eyes that look in to your soul.  Well you know what?  I am searching for the right soul to make me their own and them to be MINE too!  I am the perfect size for so many lifestyles.  I don’t bark and I ride perfectly fine in a car.  Let’s go places this Summer!  I am ready are you!?  Send an email asking about me to ccrnewengland@gmail.com  Let’s be “family” real soon. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.May 20, 2024, 4:42 pm

Story
This little pretty chocolate dappled girl is called Mazie and goodness what a cracker jack she is.  Don’t for minute let those green eyes and chocolate marbled coat fool you to think she is gentle or easy.  She is the CEO of dogs and will run the show at your house if given the chance.  Mazie is 20 pounds and 9 months old.  She is a breed mix of Dachshund and Basset Hound we are told.  Her pics make her look big but she is a “tiny but mighty” little girl.  Mazie is not a fan of any other female dogs in her life or around her.  We don’t know where that came from but the dislike is there so we say…don’t ignore the warning.  She is great with big male dogs, not good with other small dogs or cats, but loves people deeply and wants to be around them.  She needs a fenced yard because she is a runner as most Dachshunds can be and she needs to be able to run and play and get her energy out daily.  Older children would be better for her and she is crate trained, 90% housebroken and she adores going for walks; a very good girl on a leash we can say.  She is beautiful but a “tad” bit complicated, which is why we have outlined the Likes and Dislikes of this girl to a TEE!  We want the right and perfect home and there are lots out there that can give her that.  Tiny but Mighty little Mazie is ready for a home NOW!  Please email us at Critter Cavalry Rescue : ccrnewengland@gmail.com  Tell us where you live when you email asking for information and an application. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.May 20, 2024, 4:42 pm

Story
Male, 2 years old, 19 lbs Personality: affectionate, goofy/funny, easygoing, snuggler, protective, outgoing, playful, adventurous, rambunctious, trustworthy, and energetic. Rolo is a barrel of laughs - at two years old, he still llikes to do things like chase his tail and throw his own treats in the air as entertainment! Rolo loves going on long sniff walks and meeting new friends, dog and human alike. A typical daschund, Rolo has a big personality and doesn't hesitate to show his foster family what he wants. For example, Rolo loves to be covered by a light blanket to sleep and prefers wet food. Rolo is doing well with house training and his foster family trusts him to be left alone outside of his crate. Rolo is ready to meet his forever family and fill their lives with smiles. Could that be you? Apply today to meet Rolo! If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Lepto and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.

Good with cats,
Story
Please note that since I am a rescue dog my breed is a best guess and can only be verified via a DNA test. For more photos and updates on Martie, follow his adventures on Instagram at@samson_and_charlie! Good with: Small dogs, cats Not good with: Large dogs Not tested with: Kids House trained: No, work in progress Energy level: Moderate Noise level: Lots Hi I'm Martie! I was rescued from a severe neglect/abuse situation and I'm learning how to feel safe and loved. Given my previous circumstances I'm on the nervous/shy side and will need a patient family ready to help me come out of my shell and trust people again. Let me tell you about some of the things that really get my tail wagging. Zooming around in a fenced yard? Oh yeah, count me in! I love the feeling of freedom as I dash around, chasing after who knows what. And when I'm not zooming, you can bet I'll be busy chewing on my toys. I've got quite the collection, and I love nothing more than carrying them from room to room, stashing them in couch cushions like buried treasure. And let's not forget about treats I'm a sucker for a tasty snack! But you know what I love even more? Snuggling up with my favorite humans. Once I warm up to you, I'll be the cuddliest couch companion you could ask for. Now, let's talk training. While I may have some basics down like crate training, I've got a bit of work to do in other areas. House training is definitely a work in progress, and I could use some help building my confidence. I tend to be a bit sensitive and prone to separation anxiety, so I'm looking for someone who can give me the guidance and reassurance I need to feel secure. When it comes to my energy level, I'd say it's moderate. I enjoy both long and short walks, and of course, nothing beats a good round of zoomies in the backyard! Now, let's talk positives and negatives. On the plus side, I'm crate trained, I adore toys, and I'm a playful goofball once I warm up to you. But on the flip side, I can be a bit rambunctious and mouthy at times, and I've been known to struggle with nervousness around new people. As for my ideal home, I'm looking for someone who can set boundaries while still showering me with love. I need an understanding owner who can help me overcome my nervousness and socialize me properly. And while I get along great with small to medium-sized dogs and even cats, I'm not a fan of the big guys. So, if you're looking for a sweet, goofy companion who's just waiting to bloom with the right guidance, I might just be the pup for you! I can't wait to find a forever home where I can share all the love I've got to give! My foster guardian says: Martie is such a sweet and goofy little pup with a giant personality! He loves zooming around the backyard with small dogs, walks, and after he warms up to his humans, he loves cuddling in the couch. Likes: Zoomies, chewing on and hiding toys, treats, snuggles Dislikes: Nothing really! My ideal home: Martie needs an owner who will be good at enforcing boundaries despite how cute he is he definitely exhibited dachshund behaviors like vocalizing, and also, difficulty with potty training! He needs an owner who understands how nervous he can be, and is willing to socialize him and make him comfortable.
