Meet Blaze! This precious five month old doberman puppy was one of the lucky ones in a very overcrowded shelter that we were able to take in today. This precious boy has a zest for life and is a bouncy, affectionate guy who has all the traits we love of this breed. He enjoys other dogs and is only 30 pounds so likely won't be over 60. He has done great with other dogs and would love a doggy companion. He is very affectionate with people. He is crated trained and a very smart pup. This sweet girl is so eager to love, and what she loves most is people, treats, and, most of all, scritches. Don't let her size fool you - she is one of the gentlest dogs on the planet. She doesn't bark or lick, and won't jump up on your visitors. She loves pets and scratches, as well as snuffle mats, lick mats, and any and all treats. She is very polite in the house, and won't even try to get on furniture or beds. I think she might like a crate since she will sometimes go sleep in the fireplace. Likes: Meals and treats Walks, and coming home from walks Pets, any time, any way Zooming after breakfast in the backyard Soft beds, snuggler type. The theory is that Venus came from the countryside, so she's not too accustomed to city living. Venus is a sensitive dog. She would likely do best in a quiet home that is not in a bustling neighborhood or city setting and with easy access to outdoor space. For example, she does tend to spook easily with loud motorcycles or trucks when out on walks - and she prefers to do her business when she can be relaxed! She loves being outside in the backyard, and will take herself out to pee given the chance. She has had no accidents in the house. She seems like she will learn to use the dog door pretty easily. She's an older lady, so does need to go outside about 5 times a day to use the bathroom. She enjoys short walks outside and hasn't shown much fatigue when on longer walks, but doesn't feel the need to get in a workout when she could be lounging at home. She's had her years of chasing rabbits and is content reminiscing from the doggy bed :) She could also use a little leash training as she doesn't have much experience there - she doesn't pull unless startled, but she hasn't heard of a straight line and needs some patience and redirection to get the hang of it! She is shy around other dogs at first (not at all reactive or aggressive, just shy to make friends!), but is friendly and can warm up to them! She would like another dog in the house to play with. She keeps trying to initiate play with one of my dogs but he refuses. Venus knows "no" and is very obedient and smart. She wants to please! As for logistics - she has no problems on short or long car rides, and handled a 1.5 hour drive to/from Sonoma with ease this weekend! She also has no separation anxiety, and is totally cool at home alone for periods of time. We have her in 1 room and when we check the doggy cam, she is never making noise and is just chilling comfortably on her bed. She has no mobility issues, just a slightly aging body so depending on how high the couch or car is, might need a little help jumping up. She's a great dog! I would consider adopting her if my dogs (a bonded pair of smalls) were nicer to her. Go Venus! Overall, she's an easy and very chill dog!
