Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog Adoption:7*****My adoption fee is sponsored***** Meet Rogan!!! Handsome and regal, Rogan is a 2 year old Dobie weighing at 77 lbs. He's large in size and he's got a heart that is just as big, soft and a sweet side that he's ready to share with you! This handsome boy is incredibly attentive to humans and loves to shower his special person with soft, gentle kisses. What a good boy indeed! During playtime, Rogan can't resist chasing a ball when it's thrown, and he's always up for some fun. His enthusiasm might lead to jumping up when he's excited, but it's all part of his happy spirit. Rogan's yard adventures are a sight to behold; he explores independently and may even find a stuffed toy to tear into. Then, with boundless energy, he gallops across the yard with sheer joy—it's truly wonderful to witness his exuberance. While he might not be too interested in balls, Rogan has a soft spot for stuffed toys, often picking them up and carrying them around. He's a bundle of energy with an engaging personality, though he might need some guidance about the right way to express his enthusiasm. Rogan's ideal home would be one where he's the only dog, as he's shown discomfort when meeting social dogs at the shelter and can be selective with his canine friends. Young boy Rogan is ready to embark on a new adventure with a loving and experienced owner who can appreciate his spirited nature. Rogan is a real treat connoisseur and a pro at sitting on command. He's got loads of potential but needs an experienced large dog adopter who can provide the mental and physical stimulation he craves. While he's a bit of a work in progress when it comes to loose leash walking, he's eager to learn and respond well to his handler's guidance. Are you up for the challenge of unleashing Rogan's full potential? Come meet this delightful boy and discover the boundless energy and affection he has to offer!         View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Oakland Animal Services (OAS) (@oaklandanimalservices)  October 2, 2023, 1:49 am

🐾 Introducing Monica, a delightful 1-year-old red Doberman seeking her forever home! 🐾 Monica is a striking Doberman with a beautiful red coat that perfectly complements her vibrant personality. She is a bundle of energy and affection, eager to bring love and happiness to a lucky family. While Monica isn't compatible with cats, she gets along fabulously with other dogs and children. Her friendly and playful nature shines through as she enjoys socializing and engaging in activities with her furry companions and young humans. Whether it's a game of fetch or a gentle cuddle session, Monica is always ready to be a part of the fun. One of Monica's standout qualities is her remarkable training progress. She has already mastered essential commands such as sit, stay, and wait. Additionally, she is fully potty trained, ensuring a clean and well-mannered presence in your home. However, Monica would greatly benefit from continued training classes to further enhance her obedience and refine her skills. These classes will help her become an even more well-behaved and impressive canine companion. Monica is in search of a loving family that can provide her with the attention, exercise, and mental stimulation she needs. She will thrive in an environment where she can participate in regular activities such as daily walks, interactive playtime, and engaging training sessions. Monica's intelligence and eagerness to learn make her the ideal candidate for further training adventures. If you're ready to open your heart and home to a stunning Doberman like Monica, be prepared to experience her boundless love and loyalty. This sweet girl is eagerly waiting to become an integral part of your family, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime. Don't miss out on the opportunity to give Monica the loving forever home she deserves. Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at a meet and greet event on Saturday, September 9th unless he/she is adopted prior to the event with a set up home. The event is from 12 pm to 3 pm at Palo Alto's Pet Food Express. Those interested in meeting the dog can come out to our meet and greet event. We no longer do application approval onsite. Anyone adopting has been previously approved and set up to meet prior to the event. Adoption Fee: $800 Darcy is a 5 month old Doberman who was a rescue from the shelter with her sister, Tara. We do not know why these gorgeous girls were given up, but we know that their futures look bright from here! We will be looking for separate homes for each of these sisters so they get the care and attention they deserve from their new families! Below is a report from the foster of Tara and Darcy: Tara and Darcy arrived to my house completely unsure of the world around them. They were clearly never socialized in their previous home and everything was brand new to them. We gave them time to decompress and explore and they quickly learned how amazing house living was, especially once they discovered our backyard! They love to follow us around the yard and make sure nothing is changing outside (they are very perceptive!). The girls love to play with each other and with my older Doberman and have gained confidence following the lead of my dogs, so a home with a canine companion would be perfect for them.  The girls wake up at 6:30 AM and head outside for potty before breakfast. They spend the morning playing and exploring before heading into their crates for a nap around noon. They spend the afternoon lounging around before having dinner at 7 PM. Then it’s more playing before they head to bed. Both girls are fully potty and crate trained.  Tara is more cautious when she is introduced to new situations and is more on the independent side. Darcy is more outgoing, more willing to encourage her sister to play, and more likely to find herself in the middle of trouble!  The girls have both shown amazing progress since they have come to us. My favorite thing about them is they have started smiling and wagging their tails when they see us come into the room! Darcy and Tara are only an option for households who have owned a dog in the past 5 years, with priority given to those who currently own a dog. Applicants should be prepared to discuss their plan to continue socializing the puppies so they can reach their full potential. Children in the house should be over the age of 8 and knock-over-proof. October 1, 2023, 6:49 pm

Story
When Vito arrived, he instantly greeted his new foster mom and dad. Vito is such a sweet guy. He loves kisses and has no behavioral issues. He is house broken and does not mind being handled. He gets along well with other dogs. Not sure about cats but on walks he is curious when he sees small critters. He is afraid of the garden hose. He does not play with toys or balls. He just chills out most of the day. He loves walks and car rides. Every once in a while he tries to jump on the couch but he knows that is not allowed. He is very food motivated! Vito has been a great companion and we love caring for him, he is just a big teddy bear. Vito has been diagnosed with Diabetes and Cushing's Disease. These are life-long conditions that will require on-going vet visits and medication, including insulin shots twice daily. https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/cushings-disease-in-dogs Animal Rescue Recon makes sure that each dog is current on its vaccinations, has been or will be spayed or neutered, and is microchipped to help keep pets out of the shelters and get them back home where they belong. Story
Leroy has the mind of a police dog and the heart of a goofball. He is very smart and engaged, and therefore should be a dream to train. He is human-focused and very responsive. He is a high-drive, high-energy dog, so will do best in an active home with lots of fun things going on. Leroy loves walking, and is very alert. He sometimes barks initially at other dogs, but moves on quickly to the next exciting thing. He likes to burn off energy running around chasing balls in the play yard, and appears to be housetrained.
