Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at a meet and greet event on Saturday, September 9th unless he/she is adopted prior to the event with a set up home. The event is from 12 pm to 3 pm at Palo Alto's Pet Food Express. Those interested in meeting the dog can come out to our meet and greet event. We no longer do application approval onsite. Anyone adopting has been previously approved and set up to meet prior to the event. Adoption Fee: $800 Tara is a 5 month old Doberman who was a rescue from the shelter with her sister, Darcy. We do not know why these gorgeous girls were given up, but we know that their futures look bright from here! We will be looking for separate homes for each of these sisters so they get the care and attention they deserve from their new families! Below is a report from the foster of Tara and Darcy: Tara and Darcy arrived to my house completely unsure of the world around them. They were clearly never socialized in their previous home and everything was brand new to them. We gave them time to decompress and explore and they quickly learned how amazing house living was, especially once they discovered our backyard! They love to follow us around the yard and make sure nothing is changing outside (they are very perceptive!). The girls love to play with each other and with my older Doberman and have gained confidence following the lead of my dogs, so a home with a canine companion would be perfect for them.  The girls wake up at 6:30 AM and head outside for potty before breakfast. They spend the morning playing and exploring before heading into their crates for a nap around noon. They spend the afternoon lounging around before having dinner at 7 PM. Then it’s more playing before they head to bed. Both girls are fully potty and crate trained.  Tara is more cautious when she is introduced to new situations and is more on the independent side. Darcy is more outgoing, more willing to encourage her sister to play, and more likely to find herself in the middle of trouble!  The girls have both shown amazing progress since they have come to us. My favorite thing about them is they have started smiling and wagging their tails when they see us come into the room! Tara and Darcy are only an option for households who have owned a dog in the past 5 years, with priority given to those who currently own a dog. Applicants should be prepared to discuss their plan to continue socializing the puppies so they can reach their full potential. Children in the house should be over the age of 8 and knock-over-proof. September 24, 2023, 11:18 pm

She recently came into the shelter when her family could no longer care for her. She lucked out and got to go to a foster home yesterday! Portia is about 4 months old, incredibly sweet, and weighs about 17lbs currently. She'll continue to grow and will thrive with rewards-based training to help her be the best companion she can be.September 24, 2023, 11:21 pm

Story
Hey there, I'm King! I'm a neutered male Doberman mix, who is only a year old and already 67 lbs. I'm a big boy with a big heart, but I need help with my manners. I love meeting new people, I get so excited I literally jump for joy! I'm playful, fun and adorable too. I have a fun personality and I'm a bit goofy, but oh so lovable! If you are looking for a high energy, silly, happy bundle of fun, I'm your match made in heaven. The perfect home for me would be with teens and adults who are ready for their next adventure. I'd like to meet the whole family, including any resident dogs before going home with you.  If you are interested in meeting with me, please submit your fully completed Adoption Profile Form to adoptinquire@peninsulahumanesociety.org and an adoption counselor will call you to conduct a phone interview before making an appointment to meet in person. You must be 18 or older to submit an application. Please make sure to include in the application that you are interested in meeting me, King ID # A920416. Application:  https://phs-spca.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/AdoptionProfiles_dog2023_fillin.pdf *The application may not work on mobile devices and iPads. Please call (650) 340-7022 for assistance.  Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010. Please note at this time we are doing adoptions by appointments only. Please call us at 650-340-7022 to schedule an appointment. Our hours are weekdays from 11am-6pm and weekends from 11am-5pm (closed major holidays). Interested adopters must arrive at least 1 hour before close.  We do our best to update our listings regularly, but we can’t guarantee every animal you see is still available. It’s also typical for us to have animals who haven’t had their photos taken yet, so you are welcome to visit our adoption center and have a look around! To check on an animal's adoption status, please call 650-340-7022 during normal business hours to speak with an adoption counselor. Emails will be returned as soon as possible, but please allow up to 48 hours during busy adoption periods like weekends.September 24, 2023, 7:13 pm
