Story
With eyebrows that deserve their own fan club and a heart that connects quickly, Sweet Lady is the kind of dog where once you're chosen, she never looks back! You can say that she is the best friend you never knew you needed. She is all about love, a whole lot of loyalty, and a little sass. The perfect trifecta! In her video, you'll catch those little sass moments too where she'll toss her head back or when she's out in the yard playing with her people. Her personality is one of the things I love most about her.
Watch her video and fall in love with this little lady: https://youtu.be/0yfQnZjXTks?si=9OCdlMU9lkIafXcR
Lady is believed to be a German Shepherd/dobbie mix approximately 1 year old and currently weighs 60 lbs. She is a rescue dog and with any rescue, it's always a mystery and we cannot guarantee breed or age.
I said it in the video and I'm going to say it again...one of the favorite things about Lady is how she will always come back to you for affection or just to check in. She will do this even when she is out in a play group. All of the dogs can be running around, playing and she will join in for some fun but she always finds her way back to the people she loves the most. It doesn't take her long to love you either. The way to this girl's heart is through belly rubs and treats. Emphasis on the belly rubs. Really though, Sweet Lady loves quality time. She is the type of companion that likes to be close and in all the best ways. She's not going to bug you while you're working or keep nudging you for affection if you're not paying attention to her, she just likes to be near. You'll hear us say multiple times in her video that she is a hangout girly and she really is. She'll hangout with you all day if you let her, it doesn't matter what the two of you would be doing, she'll be happy to be included.
Lady is very dog friendly and has done great with all the dogs we have introduced her to. She has been in playgroups with upwards of 10 dogs all with different personalities and has even been used as an assessment dog from time to time. She does great when meeting new dogs and then will either play with them or will go off and do her own thing. That's what is so great about her, the was she is able adapt to the dogs around her. She can run around and have a good time and she also is content and happy going off and doing her own thing while the other dogs are being wild. If she's not playing with other dogs, or off exploring in la la land, she's close to her person being a hangout girly. When Lady does play she is a vocal gal that loves to express how much fun she is having. She will also give a subtle correction to a dog if she's not up for play in that moment or if the play was getting a little too rough. Like how an older sister would do with her little brother, a teaching moment. If you don't have other dogs, that's fine by Sweet Lady. She does not need the company of an other dog to help her feel comfortable or open up nor does she need another dog to help fulfill her energy needs. She is a total love bug with her people and she is settles into a home environment easily. She will be happy with some play time in the back yard with her person or a walk around the neighborhood and she'll be all ready for snuggles afterwards. She would also do best in a kitty free household.
Sweet Lady walks well on a leash and hardly ever pulls. If she does pull, it is not hard to remind her to walk like the Lady she is. A subtle leash correction or that sensation of pressure from her leash and she's back to walking like a gem again. In all honesty, she doesn't stray too far from you on walks. Not that she's insecure or anything on walks, she just likes being close is all. Lady is treat motivated but more than anything she wants please her people! She knows how to sit, responds when her ask her to come, lay down, and takes treats very gently. Lady has also shown us that she is a total lady in her crate and has great house manners too. I never had to get her attention because she was getting into stuff she shouldn't be nor did she ever give the impression that she would be interested in chewing household items.
Her dream home would be with a semi-active family looking for a companion that likes to explore and one that is always game for snuggles and movie time. Sweet Lady is capable of doing both! She'll love to go on adventures with you, even just little ones to the local park or exploring those scenic trails behind your house, and then snuggle up for a movie at the end of the day. Her only request is that you throw in free belly rubs every now and then. Sweet Lady has been around kids as young as 4 years old to 11 years old and you guessed it, she was a sweet lady. She took treats gently from both kids and was mindful of her size around them especially around the 4 year old, making sure to never accidentally knock him over or jump on him. At one point Kobe the 4 year old, jumped up and didn't realize Lady was right behind him and he accidentally bumped into her and she took it like a champ and walked away. She gravitated most towards Elijah, 11 year old! Oh she loved how he played with him, took her on a walk, and just loved being around him. When Elijah tossed on of her toys, she immediately brought it back, listened to him when he asked her to sit, and was so easy for him to walk on a leash. We do believe she would be happiest with kids ages 7 and up, kids that are a little more predictable with their movements, more aware of boundaries, and want to play fetch and go on walks with her. That's probably her favorite things about older children. Sweet Lady would also love to have a backyard to call her own where she can stretch her legs, play fetch, and also soak in the sun during those nice summer days.
We are willing to test Sweet Lady with anything you need us to in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know.

https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.
Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!
Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond.
Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.
The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.
While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs.
It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS:

Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission!
