Story

Django we got at the Edmonton Humane Society, he is very sweet and has amazing potential but we are unable to give him the active lifestyle that he deserves. He does need behavioral training that he does get aggressive over his food (especially dogs if close), we have kept the other dog in a different spot while feeding and there has been no issues. He also does seem to have some sort of allergy (not sure if environmental or food) but we are unable to figure out as we will be having a 2nd child in April and do not have the time or funds to look deep into it. He is sweet and carrying and does give sweet kisses but also has puppy tendencies and nibbles.

Meet Dante! Breed: Doberman Age: 2 years Location: Edmonton, AB Personality: Dante is a playful boy who knows basic commands and is very food motivated. He needs clear boundaries and a knowledgeable adopter to continue his training. Likes: He enjoys playing fetch, playing tug of war, puzzle toys, and running at the dog park. Dislikes: Although Dante wants to be with his people at all times, he isn't a cuddler. He does not like being left alone and although crate trained, he can be a bit vocal when left unattended. He should not be left uncrated if left alone. Dante can be protective of his home and needs a slow, calm and controlled introduction to visitors, even if they have met him before. He can be a bit unsure of new people upon initial meeting and can take a few minutes to warm up. Ideal Home: The ideal family does not have small children as he is a large dog who plays rough. He needs regular exercise and mental stimulation to make sure he doesn't become destructive. ‍‍‍ Family: Other pets in the home are okay, but best if it is confident female dog. He has previously lived with cats. Health: No known issues. Adoption Fee: $500 Dante has been neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. All adopters must agree not to use any punitive training methods. 4 year old Lola is a survivor. She was pregnant and living on the side of a river, and surviving from scraps from a stranger. Eventually a kind stranger managed to get her and her puppies into shelter. Lola is a beautiful Mexican special mix – her pups look like small black labs – she may be a shepherd x terrier x lab mix. She’s her own mix of very special girl. Lola is lower energy, but spins in excitement if you might be so kind to toss her a ball, or when her dinner is ready. Story

2.5 year old Husky cross Chiquita is looking for her perfect home. Chiquita has had a hard start in life – wandering with her mum and siblings as a puppy to survive on food scraps, then survived a hurricane and now awaits a real life from the SPCA PV sanctuary. Chiquita is one of the most stunning dogs in the sanctuary, with her unique colouring and caramel eyes. She leans in for snuggles, and falls at your feet for belly rubs with guests to the sanctuary trying to get a taste for real life with someone who loves her as their own. Chiquita is playful and enjoys time with the puppies to feed off their youth. She can be selective with certain dogs, which is common for a girl of her age and we think she’d love a home all to herself. We would love to see her enjoying outdoor space in a cooler climate (Mexico is a pretty hot spot for a husky cross!). Chiquita happily visits regularly with cats – at times a bit excited around them. As she’s spent her early life in sanctuary she’s hasn’t had exposure to kids or big crowds. As a bigger girl, we’d love to see her land somewhere outside the big city. Meet Nube who is looking for a home. Nube is a 4.5 year old mixed breed, full grown at a perfect 45 lbs. We think she may be a lab cross, with a gorgeous white coat, and beautiful markings to round out her unique look. She shares space with other dogs and enjoys playtime in the yard with them. Nube is friendly and affectionate with shelter visitors with a lovely disposition. She is medium energy - with enough energy to keep up, but would also be grateful for some chill time to make up for missed cuddles. Mostly she would love her very own family. Nube hasn't been tested extensively with cats. She sees them without reacting, but for now, we will seek a home without cats to be sure. While Nube is lovely with people, she's not been specifically tested with kids. Nube is spayed and vaccinated. She is missing some of her front teeth - likely a result of escaping shackles or surviving on street scraps.
