Story
Meet Macy!Macy came into the shelter September 29th surrendered by her owner who was unable to keep her in their yard. We believe it was that the yard was in need of some serious repair, we have had no issues with her at the shelter in our yards.Macy lived with other dogs and has done well with other dogs we have introduced her to here at the shelter. She can be a little shy with new people but with not a lot of time, she comes out of her shell and will enjoy a pet and likely lick your hands clean. She has done really well on a leash. Far warning, when she is tired, she will plop down right in front of you and show you her belly as if to tell you “ok, I’m done rub my belly!”.We think she is likely potty trained. She keeps her kennel clean and does seem to wait for her turn in the yard. She likes treats especially a kong filled with peanut butter and other snacks.Come meet Macy today at the Alpine Animal Services Shelter, 2900 Old Marathon Hwy Alpine, TX 79830.

Story
Meet Buck! Buck came into the shelter August 31st, found running loose with another dog outside of Alpine City limits. He was adopted but has sense returned to the shelter, to no fault of his own. Buck gets along with other dogs and has done well in play group. He seems indifferent with cats, there may need to be a safe introduction with cats and him in a new home, we don’t think he knows what they are yet!Buck is shy around new people but once he gets to know you, he is oh so happy to see you! Buck is great on a leash and enjoys going on walks with our staff and volunteers. Buck had some time to learn potty training in his last home so he should be fairly easy to train in a new home. One of our staff members said their favorite characteristic is that Buck is energetic and goofy. Come meet Buck at the Alpine Animal Services Shelter, 2900 Old Marathon Hwy Alpine, TX 79830. Story
Meet Lola!Lola came into the shelter January 6th as a surrender to no fault of her own. Lola lived another dog and kids and did very well. She is not a barker and is not reactive to other dogs or people passing by her kennel.Lola loves meeting new people and is very engaging and playful with people. She is still a work in progress with leash training but, she is working on it! She was mainly an inside dog, so this girl is very potty trained and likes to be inside with her people. She also knows sit and lay down; she is a very smart girl. Our staff’s favorite characteristics are that she is goofy, loving and energetic. They also love her sweet face and sweet demeanor.Come meet Lola today at the Alpine Animal Services Shelter, 2900 Old Marathon Hwy Alpine, TX 79830.

Story
Meet Sage!Sage came into the shelter December 31st found running loose in the city of Alpine. While we knew where Sage belonged, the previous owner sadly did not reclaim her.Sage lived with other dogs so we believe she would be a great addition to a family who already has a dog. She is still working on leash training but so far, we know that, while a little unsure when you first get going on a walk, she still will not pull and does walk fairly well once you get going. The staff found out fairly quickly she does know how to sit and she loves treats!Favorite characteristics are that she loves to play and has a little sassy side, in a good way! She has bursts of energy that are super cute to watch. Come meet Sage today at the Alpine Animal Services Shelter, 2900 Old Marathon Hwy Alpine, TX 79830.

Story
Meet Freya!Freya came into the shelter September 16th found running loose in the city limits of Alpine. We could not believe that she was never reclaimed, she has been fabulous! She has tested positive for heartworms and has started treatments. Her adoption availability date is pending until she has gone through treatment but, we are more than happy to introduce her to potential adopters to get the ball rolling.Freya has not been in play groups with other dogs yet, but she does really well walking by the other dogs and will approach a neighboring kennel calmly to say hello. She has been very friendly with every person she has met so far and has done really well walking on a leash. We also believe she is potty trained; she keeps her kennel clean and will wait for her turn in the yard for her potty break. We have also found she knows sit and how to give you her paw. Our staff says that their favorite things about Freya is that she is gentle, sweet, smart, treat motivated, very understanding and a good listener. What a bunch of great characteristics!Come meet Freya today at the Alpine Animal Services Shelter, 2900 Old Marathon Hwy Alpine, TX 79830.

Meet Mavis!Mavis came into the shelter with her buddy Bruno on December 13th after being surrendered by their family who were moving and could not take them.We are still waiting for her to heal from her spay but as soon as she does, we will introduce her to other dogs. She does great with her giant brother Bruno though.Mavis is still learning not to pull when she is walking on a leash but does love to go for a walk with us. She also seems to be potty trained, she tends to wait for her turn in the yard. She loves to play in the water so if you are one to visit a lake, you better bet she is going to make a splash! Mavis loves any and all treats, especially her peanut butter kong at night. How can you resist that cute smile?
