Meet Buck! Buck came into the shelter August 31st, found running loose with another dog outside of Alpine City limits. He was adopted but has sense returned to the shelter, to no fault of his own. Buck gets along with other dogs and has done well in play group. He seems indifferent with cats, there may need to be a safe introduction with cats and him in a new home, we don’t think he knows what they are yet!Buck is shy around new people but once he gets to know you, he is oh so happy to see you! Buck is great on a leash and enjoys going on walks with our staff and volunteers. Buck had some time to learn potty training in his last home so he should be fairly easy to train in a new home. Meet Perdi!Perdi came into the shelter July 13th surrendered with her friend Nala because their owner could not contain them in their yard. We have had no issue containing either of them here at the shelter, so it is likely they just needed a better fence.Perdi loves her sister Nala. She has also done really well in play groups with other dogs. Perdi lived with cats and kids and was great with both.Perdi loves to go on walks, she is great on a leash and seems to be potty trained. The staff says they love Perdis big goofy ears and her adorable Boxer underbite. She is very photogenic; she will pose and make face for the camera. Perdi is gentle, clean, kind and playful. Meet Lima Bean!Lima Bean came into the shelter on July 29th as a surrender due to no fault of her own.Lima Bean is pretty good with new people! She may go off and do her own thing in the play yard, but she has never turned down a good back scratch. She has joined one of our play groups and is very vocal about how she loves to play! She does well with children and has a blast in the outside pool! Because of her age, she does need some leash and potty training. She does her best to wait her turn, but she`ll need a consistent schedule to help her as she grows up.Lima Bean is very treat-motivated and seems to love any treat that we give her! Especially her peanut butter Kong before bed. She`s usually very calm, cool, and collected, but when she gets the zoomies, there is no stopping her! Meet Pixie!Pixie came into the shelter April 27th, surrendered with her 4 litter mates from a home where there were too many dogs. Pixie was obviously very pregnant when she came in, in fact, it was only 9 days later and she had given birth to 8 beautiful puppies.Pixie was very shut down when she came in but, she hasn’t completely given up, she actually has fallen for one of our ACOs so she has tremendous hope with some love she has really shown to be a wonderful dog. She is very shy with new people but enjoys someone to sit with her and give her treats and she especially loves a peanut butter kong. Pixie will need some leash and potty training. She does jump up on her favorite staff member so obedience training will also be needed, she does know sit though. One of our staff members says “once you have this girl’s trust, she is yours! She will look for you, and all she will want to do is be by your side. Meet Neil!Neil came into the shelter July 14th found stray in the city limits of Alpine by a good Samaritan. When Neil came in, he was very scared. Once he got to know us, he warmed up beautifully. He doesn’t seem to want to hang out with kids but one that is calm and respectful will likely be ok. He just doesn’t like too much action on around him. Neil has done great in play group. It has really helped build his confidence and was a huge help getting comfortable to the shelter life. He is still practicing his leash walking but gets better every day. He also seems to be very potty trained; he will wait for his turn in the yard.Neil is going to need a special person that is willing to take the time to get to know him. Meet Smiley!Smiley came into the shelter on April 27th as a surrender due to too many animals in one house.Smiley is still a scaredy-cat when it comes to new people. However, she will let people go into her kennel and pet/ interact with her. She is fantastic in her play groups and has gotten along with many of our other dogs. She has also previously lived with a cat but may not be the best for a house with small children. She is also a pretty good leash walker and looks forward to walkswith familiar faces. Smiley has always been a tidy girl and keeps a spotless kennel. She is well potty trained and will even go into her own kennel in the evenings when she gets an established routine. She loves to eat her peanut butter Kongs in the evenings and won`t say no to Pupperonis or a chicken nugget either. Our staff says that some of their favorite things about Smiley are that she has an endearing smile accompanied by a soft tail wag, and she will paw you to ask for attention in the gentlest way she knows how.
