Story
Meet Buck! Buck came into the shelter August 31st, found running loose with another dog outside of Alpine City limits. He was adopted but has sense returned to the shelter, to no fault of his own. Buck gets along with other dogs and has done well in play group. He seems indifferent with cats, there may need to be a safe introduction with cats and him in a new home, we don’t think he knows what they are yet!Buck is shy around new people but once he gets to know you, he is oh so happy to see you! Buck is great on a leash and enjoys going on walks with our staff and volunteers. Buck had some time to learn potty training in his last home so he should be fairly easy to train in a new home. One of our staff members said their favorite characteristic is that Buck is energetic and goofy. Come meet Buck at the Alpine Animal Services Shelter, 2900 Old Marathon Hwy Alpine, TX 79830. Story
Meet Smiley!Smiley came into the shelter April 27th with her 4 siblings as a surrendered unwanted litter. Red is a bit shy but is gaining more and more confidence as time goes by at the shelter. The staff and volunteers have really pushed her and have help make serious progress with her social skills. She is often curious about visitors now and will come to the door to check it out. She is also ok with a nice quiet petting session. Red is going to need some basic training including leash and potty training but, has improved. She is going to need a patient and understanding home to thrive. She has recently been out to the play yard with her sister and she really came out of her shell! This girl is eager and ready to try a new routine and some normalcy; she seems to do well with consistency and seems to want to learn. Our team says they think she has a sweet smile. She will thump her tail and squint her eyes like she is actually smiling. She seems to know when she is meeting a good person and when she wants your attention, she is not shy to let you know. Come meet Smiley today at the Alpine Animal Services Shelter, 2900 Old Marathon Hwy Alpine, TX 79830.

Story
Meet Namir!Namir came into the shelter on July 4th, 2025, found running loose in the City of Alpine. This guy has really come a long way. He came in pretty banged up and with an eye infection which we have since treated and he is now looking fantastic! He was not sure what to think of us all at first, but with just a few days of love, understanding and reassurance, Namir has come out of his shell and is showing to be the sweetest boy. Namir is one of our dogs that can be in a yard with other dogs most of the day, he seems to get along with other dogs especially the ones that are laid back and just want to hang out. He is a wonderful leash walker, and once the walk is over, he wants to play tug of war with it with you. He is also potty trained; he will wait for his turn in the yard. Our staff says their favorite characteristics are that he has a sweet demeaner and goofy personality. Come meet Namir today at the Alpine Animal Services Shelter, 2900 Old Marathon Hwy Alpine, TX 79830.

Meet Dexter!Dexter come into the shelter May 20th as a surrender. He was just too much for his elderly owner to handle in an apartment. Dexter is fabulous on a leash and is very potty trained. He has done great with every dog we have introduced him to and enjoys playing with other dogs in play group. He is a vocal guy, but don’t let that denture you, his talking is actually quite comical at times. Dexter is a beautiful guy looking for a family that is ok with his size and active personality. Come meet Dexter today at the Alpine Animal Services Shelter, 2900 Old Marathon Hwy Alpine, TX 79830.
