Story
Hi my name is Schemmy! I am a nervous boy who seeks comfort from my best friend, Dusty. When we are together, we are very loving and playful. I am a bit more shy than Dusty, but I will lean into petting when you find me in my hiding spot. We will need a lot of time to settle in to a new home to feel comfortable and protected, so please be patient! To be my best self, I will need a quiet home without children under 12. I hope that you will come to meet me and my pal Dusty soon, so that we can steal your heart!I am part of a “Perfect Pair”, that means I am bonded with another animal and we must be adopted together! Adult animals that are part of “Perfect Pairs” have special adoption fees which make it easier for families to make a commitment to the pair.

Story
Hi my name is Brewster! I am a shy cat looking for a patient owner who is willing to give me time to adjust and open up in my new home. Once I get comfortable, I will come out of my shell and start to show more of my true personality. I am looking for a home without children under 5, so that I can feel safe and comfortable. After all, the best things in life are worth waiting for – like a special bond with a cat who likes the calmer side of life.I am currently under the care of the shelter medical team at HSHV. If you would like to learn more about me, please reach out to the Adoption Desk at (734) 662-5585.

Story
Hi my name is Winterlite! I am a sensitive boy who is looking for a respectful and open adopter who will help me learn to trust. When I am treated with kindness, I am very sweet and silly. I adjusted to my new foster home in a few days, so I hope I can acclimate just as quickly to yours! I can be rather shy so I would prefer a quieter home without younger children. I would so love to become your new confidant; please reach out to the adoptions team to inquire about me today!Winterlite is Feline Leukemia (FeLV) positive. FeLV is a serious virus that is contagious to other cats (but not contagious to people or other species of animals). It may cause a shortened lifespan but FeLV cats have so much fun and love to give. Please call or come in to find out more.Winterlite is currently living in one of our wonderful foster homes. Adopting from foster is easy! Please email adoptions@hshv.org or call (734)662-5585 to arrange a meeting today!

Story
Jett is a Domestic Long Hair (DLH), male, DOB: 2/15/19. Seeking approval from a gentle touch and soft-spoken words, Jett revels in being close to people and will choose loving interaction with his people over just about any other activity. That’s not to say he doesn’t enjoy playtime and adventurous exploration on his own and with other cats – he certainly does, and vigorous, sometimes ruff-n-tumble play sessions will need to be a box-checked on his daily activity agenda. With an impish inquisitive side and a love of exploring, he likes to be busy, but he has a definite comfort zone in which he operates, and without a doubt, he will need some time to settle into his new environment and get comfortable before being willing to show the fun-loving, playfully impish side of his personality. With a handsome-meter off the charts, this people-loving feline will reveal his precious sweet charm to one-and-all in his spirited play and uninhibited love of affection and praise from his people. Pretty undemanding too, Jett is a calm and quiet cat who is happy just to be in the presence of people and near family activities; he thrives with attention and would love to have a window perch where he can watch the goings on of the household. Jett is best suited as an indoor pet and companion for a home with a calm, low-active lifestyle; without active, young children under the age of twelve (12); and without active or unruly pets already in the household. That being said, we think Jett could and will do well in a home with calm, cat-friendly dogs and possibly other compatible cats (we know he previously lived in a colony with other cats), so long as he is given the time he will need to adjust to his new environment and allowed to establish trust-bonds along with reasonable boundaries with other housemate pets. As with all Monroe SPCA adoptable animals, a home visit and a meet-n-greet with any housemate pets will be required prior to adoption. Jett came to Monroe SPCA as a rescue from Monroe County Animal Control, along with his colony mates: Jade, Paddy, Skye, and more. Before they were live-trapped, the colony was not being cared for and in the middle of winter they had no way to keep warm - some were found frozen to death on the property. Jett, along with all the other cats rescued were treated for URIs, malnutrition, ear mites, Giardia, Coccidia, fleas, and Tape and Roundworm while with us. They also all received and are still receiving daily socialization with our volunteers. Now a healthy, happy, mostly confident cat, Jett is looking for a forever family who will welcome and embrace him as a life-long, beloved companion and family member, and always appreciate him as the entirely sincere and earnest, sweet natured, handsome feline he is. Jett currently resides at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store. You can meet him by appointment with pre-approved adoption application. To start the adoption process, complete and submit Monroe SPCA’s adoption application linked above. All Monroe SPCA cats available for adoption have an adoption fee of $85.00. This fee includes the cat being spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, dewormed, tested for FeLV and FIV, and microchipped with lifelong registration prior to adoption. Completed applications can be emailed to info@monroespca.org or dropped off at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store located at 293 W. Monroe Street, Dundee, MI. For more information message us on Facebook or email info@monroespca.org.
