Story
Moki was found at 5 weeks old in a dumpster and i have had him since! (5 years now) Moki began having aggression towards other cats in the home at 2 years old. He needs to be the only cat in the house. He might do best with no children under 12, however he hasn’t really been around kids. He is a very sweet cat to me when he wants to be. He does swat at me and other humans but his main aggression is at the other cats. I firmly believe that Moki would thrive and behavioral issues would stop if he was the only cat. He doesn’t bite nor draw blood but he will swat from time to time when he is aggravated with the other cats. He loves watching birds on his 20” TV (lol) He loves feathered toys and sometimes joins me in the bath, as long as the water doesn’t touch him. Lol. He is a good boy in need of a no cat zone house!!!

Story
Dan is an approximately 2 year old, long hair, male buff color cat who is ready for adoption. Dan came to us with 6 other cats from the shelter, who we assume are all siblings. He does like attention and to be around people. He is friendly & loves to play, but not being picked up so much. Dan is curious & likes to explore new areas around the house. Also, slow introductions would be needed with other cats. However, after getting to know each other, he should get along with them. Dan has not been around any dogs or children that we know of, but would probably adjust. He would make a good companion, so please consider providing him a forever home.**All Shelter to Home animals are fully vetted per their age. We believe in pediatric spay and neuter. All animals will be spayed or neutered, tested for FIV/FeLV or heartworm, given age-appropriate boosters and rabies, dewormed, flea treated, and anything extra that is needed to give this animal a wonderful forever life in a permanent home. Adoption fees are usually $50 for cats and between $150-$250 for dogs, unless the pet is sponsored or we are running a promotion. Please visit our website at sheltertohome.com for information on our adoption process.**April 19, 2024, 2:24 pm

Story
Groucho was found in rough shape. He may have an admittedly gruff demeanor, but he was unable to take care of himself out there on his own. He was sick when found requiring a few days of hospitalization. During his stay his matted coat was shaved down allowing him to grow out his coat the way it was meant to be. Long and luxurious. Groucho is in need of people able to look past the fact that he is a domestic cat who may never be a warm and fuzzy cuddler. It may have to be enough to his new family that he will always be grateful to just have a safe home. Does this cat get along with other cats? There is almost always an acclimation period when a new pet joins the household. We are happy to suggest a few ways to ease the transition. Does this cat respond well to dogs? The more important question is how the dog responds to cats. Most cats will adjust to a dog, given time and patience. If the resident dog's response to cats is unknown, that should be determined prior to adding a cat to the household. We can offer a few suggestions. Is this cat good with children? The better question is how the children have been taught to handle animals. A cat will respond negatively if he/she is not being handled properly. We can offer suggestions on how to teach children to interact with cats. If you're interested in meeting any of our cats or dogs, stop in during our open hours.
