Story
I adopted this little guy in LA last year. He's a really sweet dog. At first he was wild and injured my shoulder. After that I went through training with him and he cleared up a ton! Its just that now after I moved here for work, he developed this separation anxiety I can't really take care of due to my work commitments and other stuff like going to the gym. Pair that with him living in a cramped apartment - this poor little guy deserves better than what I can provide. He is super cuddly and curious. Anytime he hears someone new on a call he joins and watches them. He'd always be with me in the kitchen when I'd cook and give me puppy-eyes for a sample. He doesn't pull when I walk him. He loves to cuddle. He has never had a history of being aggressive towards other dogs. He knows the commands: sit, lay down, poop (yes he poops on command) and reluctantly does 'go' when you point somewhere. He comes with a month of food, treats, toys, & a crate. He deserves a good life :(

Story
Hello there! My name’s Penny, and I’m a 9-year old, 55 pound shepherd mix with a big heart, a silly streak, and a love for all things Colorado. I’ve had a wonderful life with my humans, but recently they brought home a tiny human who grew into a very wiggly, spinning, jumpy toddler. And, well… I’m not a fan of surprises that move on two legs. So I’m looking for a quieter home, one without tiny humans, where I can relax, feel safe and be your loyal adventure partner. A little about me: · Healthy, happy, and full of love · Great walker, excellent on trails · I adore hiking, camping, skiing and all the normal mountain fun · I do like kids – as long as they’re predictable, respectful, and old enough to understand my boundaries (probably 9+) · I’ve always lived with dogs, but would like to meet them first. If you’re looking for a loyal companion to explore life with – someone who will wag, cuddle, and trot happily beside you on every trail - I’m your girl!

Story
"Meet your new shadow – Bridie 💕 This stunning, 55-lbs, brindle beauty is a 1–2 year old Dutch Shepherd with a heart as big as her ears are alert. She’s the definition of a Velcro dog — if you’ve ever wanted a loyal sidekick who thinks you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to Earth… congratulations, you’ve met your girl. ✨ The Good Stuff: Absolutely adores humans (big fan of her people) Potty trained ✔️ Loves toys — squeaky, tug, toss… yes please! Couch privilege is non-negotiable (she’s a professional snuggler) Will happily follow you from room to room as your devoted assistant 🐾 Dog Skills: She’s dog selective and prefers slow, proper introductions. She may thrive as your one-and-only or with the right respectful canine match. 💛 Her Heart: She bonds deeply and loves being close. She does experience some separation anxiety, but she’s working hard on building confidence and making progress every day. She would do best with a mom or dad who is home more often than not and committed to continuing her growth. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, brindle best friend who wants nothing more than to be your shadow (and share your couch), she’s ready to clock in for lifetime duty. 🐾 Your home. Her heart. Story
Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Amber Lynn finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours  (please check your spam folder for our emails) .   Amber Lynn | 1-Year-Old Shepherd Mix | Gentle Soul Learning to Trust Amber Lynn is a 1-year-old, 35-pound black-and-brown shepherd mix with a beautiful coat and a soft, sensitive heart. She is a sweet, calm, and friendly young dog who is still learning that the world—and people—can be kind. Amber Lynn is house trained and uses a doggie door, with little to no accidents, though as with any dog, occasional accidents can happen when adjusting to a new environment. She settles well and sleeps soundly through the night - she loves climbing into bed with her foster sister to cuddle and snooze through the night. She does great when left alone for short periods (up to about two hours) with other dogs in the house. Amber Lynn has positive interactions with other dogs of all sizes and especially enjoys playing with them outside. Given her history of living with many dogs, she seems to take comfort in canine companionship and would likely do best in a home with another dog. She has not met cats yet. She does well with older children and has been comfortable around kids ages 10 and up. While she was initially more comfortable with women, she has warmed up nicely to men and now enjoys quiet couch time and gentle affection from her foster family. Leashes are still a work in progress for Amber Lynn and currently feel overwhelming for her, but her foster plans to start gently introducing leash training. She has a medium energy level—happy with short bursts of activity and play, followed by plenty of downtime and naps. She knows basic cues like “come” and “no,” responds well to structure, and is motivated by both food and affection. She loves treats (especially gravy-flavored milk bones) but hasn’t quite discovered a favorite toy yet. Amber Lynn can be shy and a bit nervous, especially with certain types of touch, and may back away at first. However, when given time and space, she shows just how affectionate she can be—resting her head on your lap, snuggling on the couch, and curling up close to her canine companion at bedtime. She has made steady progress since coming into foster care and continues to grow more confident each day. Occasionally, she may chew on things when left alone, though this happens infrequently. Her ideal home would be a patient, calm household with another dog, where she can continue building confidence at her own pace and enjoy a lifetime of gentle love and companionship.   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $375. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here .   Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Comet #2 finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours  (please check your spam folder for our emails) .   Comet #2 | 4-Month-Old German Shepherd Mix | Confident Explorer with Puppy Zooms Comet is a 4-month-old German Shepherd mix weighing 18 pounds, with a striking black, tan, and white coat and a bold, adventurous spirit. He is playful, affectionate, and very confident for his age, happily exploring the world before coming in close for head rests and belly rubs. He is making progress with housetraining but is still learning. He does not yet signal to go outside, though he will whine in his crate at night if he needs a potty break. He generally sleeps through the night or may need one quick outing. He came from the Ft. Morgan shelter as a stray and was initially accustomed to potty pads, so he is adjusting to a new routine. Comet is working on crate training and settles after a brief protest. He has been left alone crated for short periods and does well. On leash, he pulls and sometimes chews the leash, and he may bark or lunge when first seeing other dogs. However, he relaxes once he approaches and has had positive interactions with dogs of all sizes. He has done well with children, though supervision is important due to typical puppy mouthiness and sharp teeth. He has a high energy level and will need consistent exercise, structure, and training. He is very mouthy, grabs sleeves and shoes, and will get into anything without supervision. He loves toys, chew bones, and fetch, and is motivated by food, toys, and affection. Comet’s ideal home is with someone who has the time and commitment to guide a smart, energetic working-breed puppy. With patience and positive reinforcement, he has all the potential to grow into a loyal and loving companion.   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. Story
Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Sally #4 finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours  (please check your spam folder for our emails) .   Sally #4 | 7 years | German Shepherd mix with a soft side Sally is a 7-year-old German Shepherd mix weighing about 65 pounds with beautiful brown-and-black coloring and a heart that truly loves her people. She is affectionate, sweet, and enjoys being close to her humans—belly rubs are a favorite, and she is always happy to curl up for cuddles once she feels comfortable. While she can be a bit shy and nervous at first, she warms up with patience and consistency and shows a loyal, protective side to those she trusts. Sally is fully house trained and uses a doggie door with little to no accidents; however, as with many dogs, occasional accidents could happen while she adjusts to a new environment. She is comfortable being left alone for 6–8 hours with other dogs in the house and will settle after some initial barking at outside noises, which is easily redirected with commands. Crate training is going great—she goes in willingly, sleeps through the night, and often chooses her kennel for daytime naps. She knows several basic commands, including come, sit, stay, no, and wait, and responds well to structure and clear boundaries. On leash, Sally can find walks stressful and may bark or react when she sees other dogs, people, or wheeled objects, though she is easily redirected and has no issues with large vehicles like trucks or motorcycles. She enjoys walks overall, as well as car rides, toys, chewing bones, and playing with her stuffies. Around other dogs, she does best with dogs her own size and has successfully bonded with a same-size dog in her foster home. She can be protective around food and toys, offering warning growls if another dog gets too close, so thoughtful management and continued training are important. Sally has not yet been tested with cats or children. She has no preference for men or women and truly loves people. Her energy level falls between medium and high—she enjoys daily activity and playtime but is also able to relax and settle when it is time to unwind. Her ideal home is a patient, active family with strong leadership who will give her time to build trust and confidence. Sally would thrive in a stable, loving home committed to helping her feel safe and secure for the long term.     If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth.
