Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Bubba #5 finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours  (please check your spam folder for our emails) .   Bubba #5 | 1-Year-Old Belgian Malinois Mix | Playful, Energetic Best Friend Bubba is a 1-year-old, 40-pound Belgian Malinois mix with a sleek black coat and an upbeat, friendly personality. He’s an energetic young dog who loves being around people and other dogs. At the dog park he’s a total social butterfly, happily playing with dogs of all sizes and making friends wherever he goes. Bubba is nearly house trained and has made great progress since arriving in foster care. He had a few accidents during his first week while settling in, but he’s been doing very well since. On leash he walks fairly well, though he can pull when he gets excited about meeting people or other dogs. His enthusiasm comes from a friendly place—he just wants to say hello and make new friends. When left home alone for a few hours, Bubba does well in his crate. He may whine briefly at first but settles down quickly and is calm when his people return. He currently knows “sit” (especially when treats are involved) and is still working on his puppy manners, including remembering not to jump up when he’s excited. He responds well to structure and has settled nicely into his foster home’s routine. Bubba has also done well living with a cat, mostly showing mild curiosity before moving on. While he hasn’t met children yet, he’s been very friendly with all people he’s encountered. As a Belgian Malinois mix, Bubba is a smart, high-energy dog who will thrive with an experienced and active owner. This breed is known for its intelligence and work ethic, and Bubba will do best in a home that can provide plenty of daily physical exercise, consistent training, and mental stimulation. He enjoys being engaged and having structure, and he’ll flourish with someone who wants an active companion for walks, hikes, training, or other activities. With the right home that understands and embraces the needs of an active working breed, Bubba will make a loyal, fun-loving companion who’s always ready for the next adventure.   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $400. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Story
She may not look like a traditional Shepherd — because she’s a Malinois mix with all the brains and drive to match. This girl is incredibly smart, highly food motivated, crate trained, and potty trained. She’s working on leash manners and thrives with structure, training, and having a job. Best Fit: • No cats or small animals (high prey drive) • Older kids recommended (playful, mouthy, can be rambunctious) • Active home with a yard or outdoor lifestyle • Experienced owner, ideally familiar with Malinois traits She loves her current dog pack but can be reactive meeting new dogs, so proper introductions and leadership are important. No aggression or resource guarding observed. She’s not a couch potato — she’s an athletic, focused, working-minded girl ready to bond deeply with someone who understands her drive and will help her shine.

Story
Hi, I’m Lola. I came from Mexico, where I was living on the streets with my friend Ricky. Life was scary and unpredictable, and I’m still learning that the world can be safe. New noises, movement, and indoor living are all very new to me. Walks don’t start out “fun,” but once I relax ( thanks to my foster brother) , I do really well. I just need time and patience. Having a confident dog friend helps me a lot. I’ve been learning from my foster sibling—where to go, when to come inside, and how to settle in. Because of that, I’d do best in a home with another calm, confident dog. I’m eating well, feeling good, and once you earn my trust—with a soft voice and gentle approach—I’m incredibly sweet and loving I may be shy at first, but I’m worth the wait

Story
Gabby is very sweet but quite shy. She is cautious and can be scared of new things such as unfamiliar places, people, and dogs. She does warm up over time, but it takes her a while to feel safe and start playing. When she gets scared, she may try to hide. Gabby is crate trained and feels safe in her crate. She will sometimes cry a little when she wants to be let out, but overall she is not very vocal at this stage. She is still learning potty training and it is taking her some time, but she is very motivated by treats. She has no food aggression and absolutely loves her foster sister, although she doesn’t quite understand the concept of personal space yet. If placed in a home with other dogs, they should be non-aggressive and very patient with her while she gains confidence. Gabby does have plenty of energy when she feels comfortable and wants to play, but she is also calm and enjoys cuddling once she feels safe. She doesn’t bite much, except occasionally when she gets very playful and forgets she isn’t playing with her brother. Gabby is sensitive and can get very scared if voices are raised, so she will do best with calm, gentle training. ##2667791##

Story
Ursa, 2-3 yo, malinois, 56 lb, spayed femaleUrsa showed up one night at someone's farm with her puppy Hutla, apparently abandoned. She is gorgeous, loyal, a lot of love and rather calm and cooperative. She is good with another friendly male dog and her puppy Hutla who used to hide under her at first. However malinois are more like shepherds and should be on a leash around stranger dogs. She needs a secure yard with 6' fence. If interested, pleas submit an adoption application at  http://sannicoladogrescue.com    March 9, 2026, 12:24 am

Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Left Eye #1 finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours  (please check your spam folder for our emails) .   Left Eye | 8-Year-Old Collie/Shepherd Mix | Gentle Companion Seeking a Cozy Home Left Eye is an 8-year-old Collie/Shepherd mix weighing about 29 pounds, with a beautiful black-and-white coat and a calm, gentle personality. She’s a quiet, sweet girl who enjoys a peaceful lifestyle and would be happiest in a home that appreciates slow days, cozy naps, and a loyal companion nearby. Left Eye is house trained and very easygoing in the home. If given the choice, she would happily spend most of the day curled up in her bed. She enjoys short walks around the block but isn’t interested in long outings—once she realizes she’s heading back home, she’s usually eager to return to her favorite resting spot. While Left Eye has had generally calm interactions with other dogs and tends to ignore them, she would do best as the only dog in the home. While she mostly ignores other dogs, she has shown some jealousy when attention is directed elsewhere and may growl in those situations. She will thrive in a home where she can soak up all the love for herself.  She is not a good match for homes with cats, as she has shown signs of cat aggression, including chasing and lunging. Left Eye can be shy at first, especially with men, but with patience she warms up and becomes a gentle, affectionate companion who enjoys belly rubs and quiet time near her people. She also has a playful side and loves soft squeaky toys, often carrying them around the house and taking them to bed with her at night. Left Eye does experience separation anxiety and will howl when left alone, which makes her not well suited for apartment living. She would be happiest in a home where someone is home more often than not—someone who can give her the steady companionship and constant love she so deserves in her senior years. Left Eye’s ideal home is with someone looking for a calm, loving companion and a relaxed pace of life. She doesn’t ask for much beyond love, patience, and a comfortable place to nap, and in return she’ll offer sweet companionship and a devoted heart.   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. To ensure Comet #2 finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours  (please check your spam folder for our emails) .   Comet #2 | 4-Month-Old German Shepherd Mix | Confident Explorer with Puppy Zooms Comet is a 4-month-old German Shepherd mix weighing 18 pounds, with a striking black, tan, and white coat and a bold, adventurous spirit. He is playful, affectionate, and very confident for his age, happily exploring the world before coming in close for head rests and belly rubs. He is making progress with housetraining but is still learning. He does not yet signal to go outside, though he will whine in his crate at night if he needs a potty break. He generally sleeps through the night or may need one quick outing. He came from the Ft. Morgan shelter as a stray and was initially accustomed to potty pads, so he is adjusting to a new routine. Comet is working on crate training and settles after a brief protest. He has been left alone crated for short periods and does well. On leash, he pulls and sometimes chews the leash, and he may bark or lunge when first seeing other dogs. However, he relaxes once he approaches and has had positive interactions with dogs of all sizes. He has done well with children, though supervision is important due to typical puppy mouthiness and sharp teeth. He has a high energy level and will need consistent exercise, structure, and training. He is very mouthy, grabs sleeves and shoes, and will get into anything without supervision. He loves toys, chew bones, and fetch, and is motivated by food, toys, and affection. Comet’s ideal home is with someone who has the time and commitment to guide a smart, energetic working-breed puppy. With patience and positive reinforcement, he has all the potential to grow into a loyal and loving companion.   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth.   Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Sally #4 finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours  (please check your spam folder for our emails) .   Sally #4 | 7 years | German Shepherd mix with a soft side Sally is a 7-year-old German Shepherd mix weighing about 65 pounds with beautiful brown-and-black coloring and a heart that truly loves her people. She is affectionate, sweet, and enjoys being close to her humans—belly rubs are a favorite, and she is always happy to curl up for cuddles once she feels comfortable. While she can be a bit shy and nervous at first, she warms up with patience and consistency and shows a loyal, protective side to those she trusts. Sally is fully house trained and uses a doggie door with little to no accidents; however, as with many dogs, occasional accidents could happen while she adjusts to a new environment. She is comfortable being left alone for 6–8 hours with other dogs in the house and will settle after some initial barking at outside noises, which is easily redirected with commands. Crate training is going great—she goes in willingly, sleeps through the night, and often chooses her kennel for daytime naps. She knows several basic commands, including come, sit, stay, no, and wait, and responds well to structure and clear boundaries. On leash, Sally can find walks stressful and may bark or react when she sees other dogs, people, or wheeled objects, though she is easily redirected and has no issues with large vehicles like trucks or motorcycles. She enjoys walks overall, as well as car rides, toys, chewing bones, and playing with her stuffies. Around other dogs, she does best with dogs her own size and has successfully bonded with a same-size dog in her foster home. She can be protective around food and toys, offering warning growls if another dog gets too close, so thoughtful management and continued training are important. Sally has not yet been tested with cats or children. She has no preference for men or women and truly loves people. Her energy level falls between medium and high—she enjoys daily activity and playtime but is also able to relax and settle when it is time to unwind. Her ideal home is a patient, active family with strong leadership who will give her time to build trust and confidence. Sally would thrive in a stable, loving home committed to helping her feel safe and secure for the long term.     If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth.
