Not good with dogs,
Story
Meet Gracie Gracie’s life began on the streets of Mexico. She was taken in by a family with an unaltered German Shepherd, and soon after, Gracie had puppies. All of her pups were given away—except one, who was transferred to FRGSR with his mom - he has already been adopted! Now settling into her foster home, here’s what we’ve learned so far: Gracie has a bit of a prey drive—cats and chickens definitely caught her attention She’s not overly confident yet, but having another confident dog around helps her thrive. She’s gentle and sweet with her foster’s daughter, though she may do best in a home with older kids. At the end of the day, Gracie is truly the sweetest girl who just wants love 💛

Story
6 years old. Incredibly smart dog. I am so heart broken that i have to surrender this guy. He has been my heart and soul, but with this, I allowed him to become incredibly protective of me. He has bitten a family member, and more recently a friends child. I am not able to keep him. He is fine in public, with dogs and people, but once someone enters my house, he is unpredictable. I have put him through extensive training, but short of getting Cesar Milan, I dont have any luck. My biggest struggle is I am by myself, and very rarely have people come over, or come through my house. All the training/trainers I have gone through, dont seem to understand that the issue is exposure in my current situation. I would need several people to come over consistently and work with me and him, and I am not able to find anyone willing to help me.

Needs to be guided with  patience gentleness as she is young and often acts puppy-like. She is loving and cuddly. She is rather friendly and submissive with the other dogs, but gets nervous at first and needs proper introduction. Better with the male dogs. Good on a leash. Needs a fenced yard with 6' fence. Adoption fee $325. If interested, please submit an adoption or foster application at http://www.sanNicolaDogRescue.com      March 9, 2026, 12:24 am

Meet Abuelito Male DOB: May 23, 2023 Weight: 50 pounds (medium) Breed: Belgian Malinois / Carolina Dog Mix Neutered (Fixed) Vaccinated Microchipped Healthy & Adoption-Ready Personality, Breed Info & Expectations Abuelito is an incredibly loving, gentle soul with a tender personality and a heart full of affection. He is sweet, calm, and deeply people-oriented, enjoying companionship and closeness with those around him. He has the kind of soft, loving energy that makes everyone feel instantly comfortable. He also gets along beautifully with: Cats Dogs People Abuelito is described as extremely affectionate and very gentle, making him the kind of dog who simply wants love, connection, and a peaceful home where he can feel safe and included. As a Belgian Malinois / Carolina Dog mix, Abuelito may show traits such as intelligence, awareness, loyalty, and strong emotional bonds with his family. While Belgian Malinois mixes are often known for being active and intelligent, Abuelito appears to have a calmer, softer temperament that makes him especially endearing. Abuelito would thrive in a home that can provide: Daily companionship and affection Moderate exercise and walks Structure and consistency Inclusion as part of the family He would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loving, loyal, and emotionally connected dog. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Many rescue dogs come from very different backgrounds. Some may have previously lived in homes, while others may have come from the streets, overcrowded shelters, neglect situations, or environments where they had little structure or guidance. Because of this, most rescue dogs arrive with only basic training at best, and some may have had no formal training at all. Even dogs who appear well-behaved in foster care or at the rescue are still adjusting and learning. The rescue environment itself also does not always allow for extensive one-on-one training. While we work hard to provide safety, structure, socialization, and basic guidance, adopters should be prepared to continue training and support after adoption. Abuelito will benefit from: Positive reinforcement training Structure and consistency Continued socialization and engagement Patience during adjustment periods Routine and companionship Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 days to decompress 3 weeks to learn your routine 3 months to fully feel at home With patience, stability, and commitment, rescue dogs often blossom into deeply loyal lifelong companions. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Owning a dog is a lifelong commitment that includes daily exercise, companionship, routine veterinary care, training, mental stimulation, and financial responsibility. Abuelito will need: Daily walks and interaction Continued training and guidance Routine wellness exams and preventative veterinary care A safe, stable, indoor living environment Consistent veterinary care, proper nutrition, preventative care, and emotional stability are all essential to helping him live a healthy and happy life. Abuelito is an indoor family dog and is not to be chained or left outside. ******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you area not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Sarge is a neutered 2 year old Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd mix currently being fostered in Denver, CO. Sarge is an outgoing, playful, and affectionate boy with a big personality and an even bigger love for fun. He is smart, curious, and full of energy, and he thrives when he has opportunities to play, explore, and be active with his people. Sarge loves other dogs and is always eager to make friends. He will happily nudge a dog to invite them to play and enjoys running and tug of war, especially with dogs his size or larger. While he gets excited and may pull toward dogs on leash, he is not aggressive and does well with slow, proper introductions. He is great at picking up on cues and will back off when another dog is done playing. Sarge has a moderate to high energy level and would do best in an active home. He would love daily walks, hikes, playtime, and mental stimulation. A fenced yard would be a big bonus, but he could also thrive with a family committed to keeping him exercised. He would do well with or without another dog in the home. On leash, Sarge could use some continued training. He is strong and tends to pull, but he responds well to guidance and does great with a gentle leader. He is fully house trained and crate trained, sleeping in his crate overnight and when his people are out. He can also be trusted with free roam, as he is not destructive. Sarge is a total lovebug with people. He is very cuddly, affectionate, and happy to greet new friends, though he may jump a bit when excited. He loves toys and proudly hoards them, lining them up one by one like treasured possessions. One of his cutest habits is doing a full somersault onto his dog bed after running inside. Sarge would be an amazing match for an active person or family looking for an adventure buddy. Older kids or dog savvy children would be best since he can be jumpy when excited. With continued leash training, plenty of toys, and lots of outdoor time, Sarge will be a loyal, joyful companion. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt him? Story
Meet Bo Breed: Belgian Malinois / Mastiff Mix Sex: Male DOB: August 3, 2022 Weight: 70 Pounds Health: Healthy and doing well Bo is a handsome, intelligent boy with a big heart and an even bigger personality. This energetic Malinois/Mastiff mix combines the loyalty and devotion of both breeds with a playful spirit that makes every day feel like an adventure. Sadly, Bo has become one of the rescue’s long-timers, patiently watching other dogs leave for their forever homes while he continues to wait for someone to notice him. He deserves the chance to finally leave the shelter behind and start the life he’s been hoping for. Personality Bo is affectionate, loyal, and full of joyful energy. He loves interacting with people and thrives on connection and companionship. His playful personality keeps life fun, whether he’s enjoying a walk, learning something new, or simply spending time close to his humans. Bo forms strong bonds and becomes deeply devoted to the people he trusts. His sweet nature and loving heart make him a wonderful companion who truly wants to be part of a family. Breed Info A Belgian Malinois and Mastiff mix combines intelligence, strength, and loyalty. Malinois are known for their sharp minds, trainability, and desire to work closely with their owners, while Mastiffs bring calm confidence and deep devotion to their families. Dogs with this mix tend to be incredibly loyal and thrive when given both mental stimulation and physical activity. With structure and engagement, they become deeply bonded companions who love being involved in daily life. Owner Responsibilities Bo already has a foundation of basic training, but like many intelligent dogs, he will benefit from continued training and mental enrichment. Regular exercise such as daily walks, play sessions, and activities that challenge his mind will help keep him happy and balanced. Positive reinforcement training will strengthen the bond between Bo and his adopter while helping him continue to grow into a confident, well-mannered companion. ⚠️ Things to Consider Before adopting Bo, it’s important to think about your long-term lifestyle and stability. Are pets allowed where you live now and in the future? If you move, will Bo move with you? Do you have the time each day to provide exercise, engagement, and companionship? Are you financially prepared for routine veterinary care, food, and unexpected medical needs? Dogs like Bo deserve a home that is committed to them for life. Vet Care Even though Bo is healthy, adopters should establish care with their own veterinarian soon after adoption. This helps ensure preventative care continues properly and provides a trusted medical partner for Bo’s long-term health and well-being. Understanding the 3-3-3 Rule Like most rescue dogs, Bo will need time to adjust to his new home. The first 3 days he may feel unsure as he decompresses from the transition. The first 3 weeks he will begin learning your routine and feeling more secure. By 3 months, his confidence will grow and his full personality will shine. Patience and consistency during this adjustment period will help Bo thrive. Why Bo? Bo has waited patiently for someone to see the amazing dog he truly is. He is loyal, playful, intelligent, and full of love to give. Long-timer dogs like Bo often become the most devoted companions because they know what it means to finally be chosen. The family who gives Bo his forever home will gain a faithful friend who will stand by their side through every adventure. Story
Remi is such a sweet dog. She’s always been a goof ball and full of energy. She’s been cooped up in my apartment and I’ve been so busy lately and haven't been able to give her the attention she needs. She’s well taken care of but she just needs more space and more frequent attention from someone. Remi loves playing with bones and ropes. She gets nervous around other dogs but she comes around and ends up making friends. That’s been my experience with her and I’m sure she’ll cling to someone new really fast. She’s a talker (husky). She loves to give you the paw when she wants something. Remi has one of the best personalities I’ve seen in a dog and I love her for that but she needs more love from someone else.

This dog is a courtesy listing and not one of our dogs. Please contact the email listed in this post. For more information about Draco, please contact: Mandi at 513-259-5305 or Kevin at 865-368-8905 Meet Draco: With a very heavy heart, we are looking to rehome our 5 y/o male GS. He is such a good boy but is not adapting well in a new home with children.  He has extensive behavioral training and is e-collar trained. He is a curious, outgoing, silly, and loveable boy. He loves his stuffed animals and makes it his mission to hunt down and eliminate their squeakers. Fetch of any sort; frisbees, balls, sticks - he would win a gold medal. He is overly curious when he spots a rabbit or squirrel. He is fully house trained but talks back when created or secluded in any way. Draco seems to do well with other animals. He does not like motorcycles, or seeing other animals on the television. He also does not like his paws touched or sudden movements. He loves to be outdoors and to go on walks or hikes, but the car ride to and from can cause a bit of anxiety, via excessive whining.   He needs a home without kids where he will continue to be well spoiled and stimulated. With someone who is knowledgeable and well equipped to handle the GS breed. He needs a yard to run in and to be given tasks. I have no doubt he will thrive in the right environment.   June 1, 2026, 9:33 pm

Story
Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Sally #4 finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 72 hours  (please check your spam folder for our emails) .   Sally #4 | 7 years | German Shepherd mix with a soft side Sally is a 7-year-old German Shepherd mix weighing about 65 pounds with beautiful brown-and-black coloring and a heart that truly loves her people. She is affectionate, sweet, and enjoys being close to her humans—belly rubs are a favorite, and she is always happy to curl up for cuddles once she feels comfortable. While she can be a bit shy and nervous at first, she warms up with patience and consistency and shows a loyal, protective side to those she trusts. Sally is fully house trained and uses a doggie door. She is comfortable being left alone for 6–8 hours with other dogs in the house and will settle after some initial barking at outside noises, which is easily redirected with commands. Crate training is going great—she goes in willingly, sleeps through the night, and often chooses her kennel for daytime naps. She knows several basic commands, including come, sit, stay, no, and wait, and responds well to structure and clear boundaries. On leash, Sally may bark or react when she sees other dogs or wheeled objects, though she is easily redirected. She enjoys walks overall, as well as car rides, toys, chewing bones, and playing with her stuffies. Around other dogs, she does best with dogs her own size and has successfully bonded with a same-size dog in her foster home with slow introduction.  Sally has not yet been tested with cats or children. She has no preference for men or women and truly loves people. Her energy level falls between medium and high—she enjoys daily activity and playtime but is also able to relax and settle when it is time to unwind. Her ideal home is a patient, active family with strong leadership who will give her time to build trust and confidence. Sally would thrive in a stable, loving home committed to helping her feel safe and secure for the long term.   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $375. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.
