Hi, I'm JoJo! I'm a 2.5 year old Dutch/German Shepherd mix. I'm as loveable as can be and am such a good boy! I get along great with other dogs, walk okay on a leash, and am even potty-trained. I need a home without cats though as I like to chase them. I'm in a foster home and patiently waiting for my chance at a forever home. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! Addie is an active girl looking for an adopter that can give her lots of opportunities for exercise and enrichment! My husband and I took Minerva in from another family member who found her in a park at about 2 weeks old. They attempted to find her owner, but no one claimed her. They had to re-home her due to their own health issues. We've had her for six months and it's become clear that she needs more time and energy than we are able to give her. She needs a home with a large yard, as she is a very high energy dog who loves to sniff around and run off her energy. She would be best suited for someone who has experience with herding breeds and knows how to train and manage their behaviors. We have done some professional training with her and she does learn quickly, though she is very stubborn. She is a very sweet girl, but struggles to contain her excitement and ends up jumping in our faces. She can be mouthy at times, though it appears to be out of playfulness and not aggression. She's never broken skin or caused real injury. She would make an incredible farm dog.
