Story
This sweet boy may take a little time to warm up, but once he trusts you, he melts for gentle pets and tasty snacks. He’s potty trained, crate trained, and ready to keep learning with positive reinforcement training. He needs an experienced owner with kids 13+ who can introduce him slowly to new people and help manage reactivity. With a strong prey drive, he’ll also need a home with no cats or small animals. With patience and love, he’ll become an incredibly loyal companion.

Hutla, smaller malinois mix, 48 lb, female, spayed, 1 yoHutla is a beautiful, sweet, waggy, happy girl. She looks like a very small shepherd, she is young, playful,  obedient and trainable.  She was abandoned in the fields and showed up one night at someone's farm with her mom Ursa. Needs to be guided with  patience gentleness as she is young and often acts puppy-like. She is loving and cuddly. She is rather friendly and submissive with the other dogs, but gets nervous at first and needs proper introduction. Better with the male dogs. Good on a leash. Needs a fenced yard with 6' fence. Adoption fee $325. If interested, please submit an adoption or foster application at http://www.sanNicolaDogRescue.com      March 9, 2026, 12:24 am

Story
Ursa, 2-3 yo, malinois, 56 lb, spayed femaleUrsa showed up one night at someone's farm with her puppy Hutla, apparently abandoned. She is gorgeous, loyal, a lot of love and rather calm and cooperative. She is good with another friendly male dog and her puppy Hutla who used to hide under her at first. However malinois are more like shepherds and should be on a leash around stranger dogs. She needs a secure yard with 6' fence. Meet Abuelito Male DOB: May 23, 2023 Weight: 40 pounds (medium) Breed: Belgian Malinois / Carolina Dog Mix Neutered (Fixed) Vaccinated Microchipped Healthy & Adoption-Ready Personality, Breed Info & Expectations Abuelito is an incredibly loving, gentle soul with a tender personality and a heart full of affection. He is sweet, calm, and deeply people-oriented, enjoying companionship and closeness with those around him. He has the kind of soft, loving energy that makes everyone feel instantly comfortable. He also gets along beautifully with: Cats Dogs People Abuelito is described as extremely affectionate and very gentle, making him the kind of dog who simply wants love, connection, and a peaceful home where he can feel safe and included. As a Belgian Malinois / Carolina Dog mix, Abuelito may show traits such as intelligence, awareness, loyalty, and strong emotional bonds with his family. While Belgian Malinois mixes are often known for being active and intelligent, Abuelito appears to have a calmer, softer temperament that makes him especially endearing. Abuelito would thrive in a home that can provide: Daily companionship and affection Moderate exercise and walks Structure and consistency Inclusion as part of the family He would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loving, loyal, and emotionally connected dog. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Many rescue dogs come from very different backgrounds. Some may have previously lived in homes, while others may have come from the streets, overcrowded shelters, neglect situations, or environments where they had little structure or guidance. Because of this, most rescue dogs arrive with only basic training at best, and some may have had no formal training at all. Even dogs who appear well-behaved in foster care or at the rescue are still adjusting and learning. The rescue environment itself also does not always allow for extensive one-on-one training. While we work hard to provide safety, structure, socialization, and basic guidance, adopters should be prepared to continue training and support after adoption. Abuelito will benefit from: Positive reinforcement training Structure and consistency Continued socialization and engagement Patience during adjustment periods Routine and companionship Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 days to decompress 3 weeks to learn your routine 3 months to fully feel at home With patience, stability, and commitment, rescue dogs often blossom into deeply loyal lifelong companions. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Owning a dog is a lifelong commitment that includes daily exercise, companionship, routine veterinary care, training, mental stimulation, and financial responsibility. Abuelito will need: Daily walks and interaction Continued training and guidance Routine wellness exams and preventative veterinary care A safe, stable, indoor living environment Consistent veterinary care, proper nutrition, preventative care, and emotional stability are all essential to helping him live a healthy and happy life. Abuelito is an indoor family dog and is not to be chained or left outside. Story
Kai is such a big, friendly boy! He`s a bit overwhelmed by life in the shelter, so we`re hoping his new family shows up soon to take him home! Kai appears to have enjoyed the company of other dogs outside his previous home, but hasn`t lived with another pup. He might be a good fit for a multi-dog home though, so if you have another dog, bring them down for a meet-and-greet here at the shelter! Kai is full of exuberance but also adores a good cuddle - he`s the whole package!

These pups are in Thornton, Colorado too!

Story
Hi there, my name is Leila. I'm the best dog greeter in my doggie daycare. I love balls and toys, going for car rides and love to play with dogs and people.  I walk well on leash, but am scared of bikes and scooters - wheelie things are weird!  I am extremely affectionate and loveable. I have a million facial expressions. I love being outside and playing in the snow. I'm working on my nice leash walking, but am making good progress. I love to explore and sometimes my nose leads me off path.  I would make a great addition to an active home preferably with another dog!  If you're interested in meeting me please fill out an application at www.thegooddogrescue.org (If you already have an approved application, please email thegooddogrescueadoptions@gmail.com with your interest in me!) My adoption fee is $300 and I am spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations ##2079620##

Story
Looking for a Loyal and Lovable Companion? Meet Moon, a loving rescue dog ready to be a part of someone's family! Moon is a 4 year old Shepherd/Lab mix. She’s a little chunky lol but should weigh about 60 pounds once she loses a couple pounds :) She is super sweet and a happy dog with a heart full of love. She is affectionate and friendly. She enjoys giving kisses, playtime, car rides, going on walks or cuddling with her humans. Moon is a medium energy dog who is a really good girl. Moon is potty trained if taken out regularly and is doing well with crate training. She's dog friendly tho unknown about cats. She does great with kids and is a very friendly pup. She's a cute girl, who is smart and learns quickly. She is a snuggle bug, who will love you forever, be a loyal companion and eager to please.. Moon's backstory: Moon's owner died unexpectedly and none of the family would take Moon or her 14 year old fur sister Sunny - they ended up at a kill shelter in Southern Colorado. Sunny is also available for a furever foster (due to age) and we’d love them to go to the same home but they would also do well in their own homes.
