You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Bucky!    NEED IMMEDIATE ADOPTION OR FOSTER HOME FOR BUCKY!   Shortly we will no longer be able to foster this wonderful dog.   Please, your help is needed.   Bucky will be an absolutely great member of your family!    Bucky Here!   My foster humans finally put up my Holloween pix.  Darn I am cute!   If I am not adopted soon, I will end up wearing some funky things.   STOP!   I do have my dignity!   ADOPT ME!!!!    Bucky - here again!   I have had a great week with my foster family.   I got to stay outside because of the cooler weather and play ball more!   I also got to snooze on my foster mom's knee while she was working.   I am patiently waiting for my forever home!   Come and get me!     Hello! I am Bucky. I am so happy I am with my loving fosters. I would like to meet my forever family!  I might sound and look scary, but all I want is love and to play ball. I want to tell you about me. I did have a car accident, that has not stopped me. I have had basic training, so i am a better boy! I am healthy and want to run and chase the big birds from flying over my yard. My foster family tells me I am so goofy.   Yeah, I look scary and I do bark letting everyone know I am here. When you come in my home with my family, I want to smell you then want you to pet me. My foster family does have some repair men come in the home. They leave my best friends. I would like to meet the lawn guy, however the big machine he rids on is scary. It reminds my of my arch nemesis the vacuum cleaner.   When I was rescued, I found out what hit me was a car. That was bad. After having doctors fix me up I have not looked back. I run, run, and run some more. I love to play ball in the back yard. I did have problems around cars. My loving fosters showed me it was no problem. They gave me bacon going into the car. I love bacon. Now I am excited to get in the car for a ride, especially for a pup cup. I love taking walks, I would prefer runs. My foster family does not run, I understand.  Oh I love my trainers, they were so good to me! When I was found, I did not know what to do when my fosters were talking to me. After two weeks away from my foster family I now understand. I can sit, go to place, lets go, and down like the best of them. I have a good life with my fosters and AARF. I am ready for my forever family. Will that be with you? ========================================================= Please contact  app@aarfhouston.org for more information about this dog. You can apply online by clicking on Application . Puppies that are under 4 months old cannot be adopted outside of our Veterinary Service area.  Please call for specific locations. Children under 8 years old often are not a good match for our puppies and dogs.   In order to protect both, your child and our rescued dogs/puppies from harm, we seldom if ever adopt to families with young children. Once your application is approved, we will schedule a meet and greet at one of our adoption events.  Thank you for considering a rescue! The adoption fee includes vaccinations, Bordetella, de-worming, rabies, spay/neuter and microchip. There is a an additional $12.99 fee for Home Again for a lifetime registration of the microchip. Puppies cannot be adopted outside of the Houston area until they are spay/neutered after they are 4 months old. It is against the law in the State of Texas for a rescue not to be sterilized so we have to make sure it gets completed and that we have record of it. NOTE: In our bios, we provide information based on our volunteer's experience with a particular dog; such as temperament, training, and ability to get along with others. AARF is a 501(c)3 Non Profit, all breed, no kill organization. Our group is always in need of donations in order to continue to give the needed medical care to our rescues. Adoption fees do not begin to cover all of the medical costs. Any donation , no matter how small is a big help and is greatly appreciated. Please help us to continue to help them. Thank you. Story
Hi all! The name is Janis Hoplin. I got this name because I was born without a bone in one of my front legs; however, I won't EVER let that slow me down! I am full speed ahead all the time with all the puppy energy you can imagine. I have had surgery to help try to straighten out my front leg as best they can; however, I will most likely need a doggie prosthetic or brace to help with balance and function. I love playing with my 65 lb foster brother, but when he has had enough, I can often entertain myself sometimes with the wrong things. As a puppy, I will need constant guidance and redirection to keep me out of mischief. My ideal furever home would have a doggie playmate that could match my energy or a SUPER active household that can both wear out my body and my BIG BRAIN. Without lots of mental and physical stimulation, I will be BORED, and because I am so smart, I will find my own things to do. I am fully potty and crate trained. My foster mama taught me that my crate is a cool place to be! I am also working on my leash walking skills, but it's just so hard when everything is so exciting! I like to chew, but I will listen when redirected to the correct items. A dog is a big commitment, and a dog with any special need is a bigger commitment. DO you have the time and space in your heart and home to commit to me? I promise it will be worth it! Janis is a Dutch Shepherd mix with an estimated date of birth of 2/15/23 and weighed 30 lbs (as of 7/24).

Story
I was left in front of an abandoned store to fend for myself. My luck changed, however, when some kind humans got me to safety. I am a young and active guy. I would love a doggie friend or even a jogger to take me out. I do know a few commands, am in excellent health, and can't wait to find my forever family. I have not met cats yet.

Story
This is Love! She was on the kill list yesterday (11/8) so we took her in as a foster. She is scheduled to get spayed on Monday (11/13) at Harris County Pets (Houston, TX). Love is extremely sweet and friendly, has been getting along great with our small dog, and loves to play. She’s cuddly, has medium energy, and is very easy to handle despite her size. Anyone would truly be lucky to have her - she has so much love to give! Love is 35lbs, is estimated to be 2 years old (so she’s fully grown), tested negative for heartworm and is up to date with her vaccinations. Unfortunately we cannot keep her as we live in a small apartment and frequently travel. If anyone is interested in this sweetheart, please reach out so that she can find a home! ♥️

These pups are in Humble, Texas too!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. My name is Sassy. I was abandoned as a puppy, and I’m still looking for my forever home. I have a fear of being left alone, so you could say I’m a Velcro dog.  I'm sweet, sensitive, curious, and lovable.  I'm a smart girl, but I can be a little stubborn. I love having canine brothers and sisters to play with.  Right now, I have two sisters and two brothers. I’m the second largest in the family. I like running, wrestling, and playing, but not too much. At night, I like t cuddle beside my sisters and my foster mom. My three favorite activities are eating, sleeping, and tracking. I have an incredible nose, and I’m always using it to find things… birds, rodents, bugs, food. I’d probably be a great search and rescue dog. Now, for my dislikes. I don’t like my tail or ears pulled, I don’t like to be restrained, and I hate getting my nail trimmed. I don’t like being hugged, but I like giving hugs. I know basic obedience, but my nose gets me into trouble sometimes. Trash, coffee cups, wine glasses and food wrappers are not safe around me. If you're looking for a special girl, who will love you unconditionally and will fit right in with your other doggies, I could be the one.  Don't forget to check out all of my gorgeous photos and my amazing videos. ==================================================== Please contact   app@aarfhouston.org  for more information about this dog. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. My name is Layla, just like the song. I’m beautiful, intelligent, athletic, and energetic. Don’t let my size food you, I’m very sweet. I can also be very protective of my humans. I know basic commands, and I’m eager to please. I have boundless energy, and I need LOTS of exercise. I’m no couch potato. I love running, playing with my foster sister, and playing fetch. My most favorite activity is fetch. I can hard and move fast, so no small kids. I would be a great running buddy, agility champ, or therapy dog. I love attention, and don’t like to be alone for very long. I have lots of love to give, and I’m looking for my perfect forever home.  Check out my photos.  Maybe you’re the human for me.  ==================================================== Please contact  app@aarfhouston.org for more information about this dog. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Not appropriate for apartment or mobil homeMs Katie is ready for her forever home.  Loyal, loving and obedient.   She knows place, sit, let's go, and here.   She is crate trained and leash trained as well.   Katie has fabulous recall and will return immediately.  Katie is the smartest working girl ever.  Katie runs with the pack (or more accurately, runs the pack) she is definitely an alpha personality.  She is German Shepherd and Cattle Dog.  Two working breeds that need a job and a lot of stimulus.   She goes non stop and keeps everyone on their toes.  She will be a great running companion. She is a talker and has a lot to say. Smart!   She figured out the doggie door weeks before I would have approved, but there is no stopping her when she sets her mind to learning something. She sits for treats. Not because she was trained to, but because she watched the pack and learned. She is an exceptional dog. She requires an active home.  Because of her intelligence, she will become bored and then destructive which will not make anyone happy.  Katie is a pleaser and learns very quickly. Her perfect home will be older children, an active family and definitely a yard. Katie will do best with a companion dog in the family.  She is not an apartment  or mobil home appropriate.     If you  can provide Katie with the stimulous and love that she will require, she will be an awesome dog.   aarfhouston.org/forms ========================================================= Please contact  app@aarfhouston.org for more information about this dog.
