I’m Pacaya, an athletic, happy, and downright charismatic girl with a heart full of joy and paws made for exploring. I’m friendly, engaging and I has got a gorgeous coat that goes from a warm tan to a rich red when the sun hits me just right. I'm always ready for the next adventure — especially if it involves hiking, swimming and exploring(yes, I take the scenic route whenever possible). If you love the outdoors, we’re already best friends. Trails? I’m in. Lakes? I’m already splashing. Hills? I’ll meet you at the top, tail wagging proudly. I thrive with an active person or family who enjoys getting out and doing things — I make an excellent hiking buddy, jogging partner, or “let’s-see-what’s-over-there” companion. But don’t let my athletic side fool you — once the adventure is done, I’m all about the wind-down life. Located in Tennessee but can be transported to you through Rescue Riders. The adoption fee covers the transport fee. Fig is a bit more of the shy one of her litter. She is very friendly and loves to chill with some attention. She gets along with other dogs but too many can be overwhelming to her. She has had no issues with kids or strangers. She is learning to use a dog door but will need puppy training. She does well in a crate so that might help. She is ready for her forever family.

Located in Tennessee but can be transported by Rescue Riders. The adoption fee covers the transport fee. Felix is a sweetie! Likes to play and has learned to love being in a lap for some love. He is very friendly and has gotten along with other dogs really well. He likes kids and doesn't have any problems with strangers. He does well in a crate but will need puppy training (has learned to use a dog door). He is all ready to find his new home.

He has had no issues with other dogs but aren't sure about cats. He has learned to use a dog door but will need puppy training. He is very energetic when out with others but calms down to be loved. He likes stuffed toys and balls that rattle. He has done well in a crate so that may help with training.

Hi, my name is Achilles and I am from Minnesota! Meet Achilles: A Spicy Little Hero Looking for His Forever Kingdom! 🐾 For the past three months, Achilles, a charming ~5-year-old Chihuahua, has been thriving in foster care. Originally a temporary respite guest, he is now officially ready to find a permanent home. Achilles is a complex, quirky little guy with an adorable, permanent underbite. He is fiercely loyal once you earn his trust, but he is a true Chihuahua who needs an experienced, patient handler who understands "spicy" dog body language and boundaries. Here is the honest scoop on this handsome boy to ensure his next home is his forever home: 🌟 The Wonderful Stuff (His Likes & Strengths) Playful & Fun: Achilles absolutely loves chewing on toys and playing a good game of tug-of-war. Dog Friendly (With Intro): He does well with other dogs following a slow, proper introduction. In his foster home, he even loves safely play-biting and wrestling with a large Great Pyrenees friend! Trick Master: He is highly food-motivated and has already learned Sit, Stand, Spin/Twirl, and Beg (standing on his hind legs)! House Trained: While it took him some time to figure out the doggy door, he is now a pro. He has not marked in the house for over a month. Grooming Champion: He is an absolute angel during bath time and brushing—he will just sit there quietly and let you pamper him. ⚠️ The "Spicy" Stuff (His Quirks & Training Needs) Achilles is a work in progress and will need a dedicated owner committed to ongoing force-free behavior modification. Strangers & Guests: Achilles is fearful of new people. When guests come over, he needs to be held until he settles down. Once he calms down, he is perfectly fine as long as the company stays seated. If you give him time, he warms up beautifully, but he cannot be rushed. Reactive on Walks: He gets very overstimulated and reactive (barking/lunging) when seeing other people or dogs on walks. He pulls on the leash, but using a front-clasp harness makes a massive difference. Sensory & Handling Sensitivities: Achilles strongly dislikes being picked up or held tightly and is extremely sensitive under his arms. He was mouthy at first when handled this way, so his new family must respect his space. He also dislikes being toweled dry after a bath because of this. He loves belly rubs on his own terms, but firm touching under his arms is a no-go. Patience with the Harness: Because of his sensitivities, putting his harness on requires patience and a gentle touch, though he happily cooperates once it's on because he loves walks! Loud Noises: The vacuum cleaner and sudden loud noises will trigger a barking fit. He will also bark at unfamiliar household objects. Training & Focus: Achilles knows his name and the "Touch" command, but if he goes into a high-alert "barking mode," it is hard to get his attention. Catching his focus before he reacts is key. He is incredibly smart but independent; he currently only performs his tricks if he sees the treat in your hand! 🏡 The Perfect Match Achilles needs an adult-only home (or a home with dog-savvy older teens) that understands small-breed reactivity. A patient environment where he can build trust at his own pace is essential. He has not been tested with cats. His black nails stay naturally worn down from his walks, but future nail trims will require a slow, cooperative care approach. If you have a quiet home, love a dog with big personality, and are ready to celebrate the small victories of training a stubborn but brilliant pup, Achilles will reward you with a lifetime of fierce loyalty.

Hi, my name is CJ and I am from Arkansas! From the foster: C.J. is an adorable, charming, smart, fun little bundle of love. She will always bring a smile to your face. Some of CJ's favorite activities include: Being near her person/people, exploring the backyard, dog buggy stroller rides in the neighborhood, car rides, and cuddling with her person/people. She has recently discovered toys and play, which has been wonderful to observe. CJ is currently working on being house trained and she has made some good progress, but will need a patient caregiver to help her and to provide frequent potty breaks. Given her clever nature and adventurous spirit, she would benefit from having a secure, fenced yard, or careful leash management. She does not like to be alone for extended periods of time, and can be vocal, so shared walls may not be the best fit for her. A home with no children or older, considerate children would be best. Overall, CJ is a loving, delightful pup who would warm your home with her presence. From the vet: CJ had been diagnosed with a grade 4/6 left sided heart murmur and chronic degenerative valve disease. This means that the valves in her heart do not seal completely and blood can leak backward instead of moving forward causing the heart to pump a bit harder. She is currently being managed with a medication called Pimobendan, which can aid in delaying onset of further heart conditions in dogs with valve disease. Because of this heart condition, CJ has experienced syncopal or collapsing events where she temporarily becomes weak. These events are brief and uncommon, but future adopters should be aware that they may continue as she ages. Her heart condition is currently stable and future adopters should continue to monitor it with their primary veterinarian.   When CJ arrived to rescue she also had very significant dental disease. As a result, she has had numerous teeth removed. Her remaining teeth have been cleaned. Routine dental care would be recommended for her going forward including teeth brushing.  CJ has also been diagnosed with medially luxating patellas. This means that her knee caps slip out of place on occasion. This is common for her breed and is not currently affecting her mobility. Maintaining an ideal body weight will be important for her as she ages to maintain good mobility.
