Story
Hi, my name is Monarch, and I am from Minnesota! From her foster; Monarch is a sweet, affectionate girl who loves nothing more than being close to her person. Snuggles are her specialty, and she’ll happily curl up beside you whenever she gets the chance. She does well with dogs her size and respects cats, though bigger pups can be a bit intimidating for her. Monarch is still working on her training—commands like sit, come, and leave it—but she’s a quick learner who loves praise. She’s also a bit of a barker, so continued guidance will help her learn when to use her voice. When it comes to grooming, Monarch doesn’t mind being brushed, though nail trims are still a work in progress. With her gentle spirit, eagerness to learn, and love for snuggles, Monarch is ready to find a family who will continue her training, build her confidence, and give her the love she deserves.

Story
Hi, my name is Tommy and I am from Arkansas. From his foster: Tommy is a social little boy who is interested in both small dogs and people (big dogs and cats are an unknown). He is also a big fan of laps and is a great sleeper. He has enjoyed playing with a lot of small breed dogs that have visited our home. He doesn't seem to know what to do with toys though. Tommy is nervous of lots of movement and noise, and it seems to put him on edge, so he really needs a quiet and understanding home free of children. He is a bit fearful of car rides, but we have been training him to make them a positive experience and it has helped him calm down after a bit.

Hi, my name is Alvin and I am from Arkansas! From his foster: Alvin is a very sweet yet nervous boy. He is still learning to trust new people. Once you earn his trust, Alvin is happy to lay beside you or play a game of fetch or tug of war with his plushies. He now loves his walks, and gets really excited about squirrels and rabbits. He's a little shadow that likes to be near his person. Now that he's gotten comfortable, Alvin has become more energetic and playful, and loves his plushies. Alvin is doing great with housetraining in his usual routine, though needs some time to adjust when in a new environment. From the Vet: Alvin has had a dental surgery while in rescue, so he will have a healthy mouth for his new family!

I am looking for a foster or forever family! Please email fostersupport@thebondbetween.org if you can say YES to fostering this animal! Select the "Apply for Adoption" if you would like to adopt Hello my name is Oscar, I'm from Minnesota! Frmo his foster: Oscar is a very cute, playful, energetic little dog. He loves his toys and is very treat and food driven. He likes to chew, but sticks to approved toys and treats. He is not destructive to the home or our belongings. He is good on the leash and loves smelling everything while on walks. After he finishes playing he will snuggle up next to you for a nap. He is fully house trained and will go to the door or jump on you when it is time to go outside. He likes sleeping next to me on the bed or wrapped up in one of his blankets. He is very curious and will follow you around the house to make sure he is not missing out on the action! He can get overstimulated and bark when people enter the home or if he is approached by someone he doesn't know. A quiet home with less noise and distractions will assure success for Oscar. He does not like a kennel or being confined. He is better with women than men, but warms to everyone with time. He needs weekly medicated baths for his sensitive skin, but this is greatly improved. Frequent ear cleaning/checks are needed.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  I know you want to meet me! Come to the Underdog Headquarters (3345 Dakota Ave, St. Louis Park, 55416) on Sunday, December 7th from 12:00-1:00 pm. Please email inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com for questions regarding the dogs. Daphne Greengrass is a pint-sized powerhouse with a big personality packed into her 14 pounds. She’s equal parts sweetheart and sass, a young dog who thrives on love, patience, and plenty of playtime. While she can be cautious with new people and may announce her feelings with barks or growls, Daphne’s true magic shines once trust is built—then she transforms into a loyal, goofy best friend. Her favorite activities include sprinting around the yard like a tiny rocket, chasing squirrels with Olympic-level determination, burrowing under blankets for cozy naps, and testing out tough chew toys. She’s potty trained, kennel trained, and knows a few commands, though she prefers to keep life interesting with her own quirky flair. Daphne is searching for an active, adult-only home where she can be the star of the show. She would love an owner who enjoys walks, hikes, or runs and who can give her the attention she craves. A fenced yard is a must for this energetic girl, and while she can live with another dog, she’s just as happy being the solo star as long as she gets plenty of love. With patience and consistency, Daphne will reward her person with endless affection, laughter, and loyalty. She’s ready to shine in the right home—one that understands her quirks and celebrates her playful spirit. **Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters. Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter. Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized. If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.  T his puppy requires an application fee. This fee must be paid within 24 hours, or your application will be considered void.  We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion.   Puppy Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the puppy. Our goal is to place puppies in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the puppy, we will not approve your application. We accept applications for puppies until we have a candidate that meets all of the requirements needed for the specific puppy and they have been contacted to review the adoption process as well as agree to all of the terms to move forward. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog. Your donation will help us buy dog food and pay for medical costs. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Sombrero may only weigh three pounds, but don’t let his size fool you—this little Chihuahua lives by the motto “small but mighty.” He’s the tiniest member of the pack with the heart of a guard dog, always ready to show off his tough side before revealing the sweet, snuggly companion underneath. True to his breed, Sombrero has a spicy streak and is selective about new people. He prefers a quieter home without children or too much commotion, where he can feel safe and confident. Once he warms up, he delights his people with silly sploots, yoga-like stretches, playful chase games, and the joy of discovering toys. Sombrero is crate trained, nearly potty trained on a good schedule, and happiest when he has a covered kennel to retreat to at night. He’s still learning the ropes of leash walking, so a fenced yard is a must for this little adventurer. He thrives with a respectful dog pack and prefers smaller companions who won’t push him around. At the end of the day, Sombrero loves nothing more than prancing after his dog friends and curling up in a trusted lap. He’s a special boy who needs a patient, experienced home that understands his protective nature and celebrates his quirky charm. With the right family, Sombrero will shine as the tiny treasure he truly is.
