If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out an Adoption Questionnaire at  https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/43315/genericYou can learn about the adoption process by visiting:  http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/howtoadopt/.  Dog's Name:  Pup Zion (ZIO0224CHEMD)Estimated Breed:  Flat-Coated Retriever MixApproximate Age:  DOB 12/20/2023 Approximate Weight:  25 LBS Currently Living at:  Foster  Adoption Fee:  $500DOG'S DESCRIPTION:  Hello, I'm Pup Zion! I arrived, along with my siblings, from a crowded shelter in South Carolina. I am now on the hunt for a home of my own. I'm a very sweet boy who is excellent with all dogs. I love to play but I also have a very laid-back personality. I am extremely affectionate and gentle. I am also doing great with housebreaking. At my young age, I am in my prime for training and socialization too. Please remember that young puppies require a lot of time, love, and patience to become the best doggie citizens they can be. I promise to bring joy, laughter, and unconditional love to your life. Will you be my new family? Submit an application today. Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.           Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (at partner vet if not fixed before adoption), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets. Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit  http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/  or email our Foster Coordinator at  foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSponsor Me!    Make a  tax-deductible donation  today by visiting us at http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/donate/  . Story
Please contact Kallie Brennan (kallieb@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.not of the Moe and Larry type! CURLY NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Curly      Best Guess for Breed:  Flat coated retriever and Lab mix    Best Guess for Age:   2 years as of April 2024     SEX:  Male   Approximate Weight:  50 lbs   Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested   Currently Living at:    South Carolina shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get his freedom ride up here.   Special adoption considerations: Curly is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky!  They are part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study will be placed at random, in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, this pup will be eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  Post treatment, we will work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test 6 months after treatment concludes, followed by a second test at 9 months.   Curly is Looking For:  A home where he gets treated with dignity and respect. He's tired of going to the dog park and being greeted by jeers - 'Where's Larry? Where's Moe?' and being victim of juvenile slapstick pranks. Enough of that. Plus, his coat is extra lush and gorgeous, so that name is extra irritating.    What he wants is long sniffy walks, romps in the park, and all the adventures his humans can dream up. He's in his prime and world exploration is high on his wish list! Quality kibble and a cushy dog bed are on it too, but you know what he wants most of all? To know he's safe and loved for all his days - and to whom to devote all the loyalty in his heart.   What do you say? Will that be you?   What My Foster Says About Me:   We will update this once he has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with his foster   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Story
Mammy Chikki is a very sweet dog who had a very rough time on the streets of India. She had to fight off monkeys and other dogs while trying to get food in a very hostile environment where people were trying to kill her because she was pregnant. My foster friends rescued her just in time and now she is in the land of opportunities with two of her puppies. Mammy will need to be the only dog in the house as she is scared of other dogs, and of cars in particular, due to people trying to run her down in India. She is ready to please, play, go for a walk, or just sit on the couch watching TV while chewing a Yak Cheese Chew, or any treat. She can be a finicky eater, and does not like dry food mixed with wet food. She needs a quiet home with a loving patient family that is able to understand her background. As a result of her experience on the streets, she shows some sign of PTSD as she is afraid of loud noise, screaming and hard environments. Mammy’s dream home will be with a nice quiet lady or mellow gentleman able to provide love, reassurance and trust in her new life. Namaste! Mammy Chikki's Profile Age: 5 years Weight: 32 pounds Good with kids: No Good with dogs: No Good with cats: No Fenced yard required: Yes Suitable for townhouse and/or apartment: I could live in a townhouse, but not an apartment. House trained: Yes. Crate trained: Yes Barks when left alone: No Chews inappropriate items: No Activity level: Low I need an experienced adopter. Mammy Chikki is a courtesy post and not affiliated with our organization. To learn more about her or arrange to meet her, please call or text Morella at (415) 858-9731 or visit the website downwardfacing.dog.

Story
Meet Bebe! She’s proof positive that you’re never too old to begin a new chapter. This darling girl finds herself looking for a new home because her owner is terminally ill and closest family members are allergic. At 9-10 years old and dramatically overweight, this poses a bit of a challenge. But here's the good news, our Bebe is full of light and love and ENERGY. So we're looking at her current situation like a caterpillar in a cocoon just waiting to come out and fly. Her theme song is Patti LaBelle’s “New Attitude.” (We hope that doesn’t date us.) Currently she's a 40lb dog stuck inside a 65lb body and she's eager to shed the excess weight and start this next phase of her life. She has Cushings disease and will need to continue her medication to control it. Bebe has good house manners and has left most things alone. She plays with toys if you'll play with her and lives for belly rubs. She knows basic commands but can also be a little headstrong. She LOVES her walks or even just time meandering around the backyard. As the weight is falling off, she’s also starting zooms around the house and lots of play time. She’s definitely feeling herself! She is 99% house trained but has had a few accidents from stress. She wants to know where you are in the house and if she can't find you, she may stress pee. This has been mitigated by talking to her from wherever I am. She is also crate trained. She does well with most other dogs so far. She’s generally fine with them until they gruff at her. She’s a bit alpha in her play so would recommend pairing her with a more submissive dog. I’m excited to get to know her more and for you to join us on this journey. We'll be highlighting her weight loss journey along the way, which will be great for us both! Bebe's stats: Weight: 57lb (as of 4/8), working her way down to 40 Age: 9-10 years Good with kids: Yes Good with other dogs: Some Good with cats: Unknown Fenced yard required: No OK for townhouse or apartment: Yes House trained: Mostly Crate trained: Yes Barks when left alone: I’ll bark when you leave, but then I’ll settle down. Chews inappropriate items: No Training: Knows sit and come. Needs more work but waiting to lose weight before training. Highly treat motivated. Activity Level: Low Needs experienced adopter: Not necessarily. Should be willing to learn about her medications. Has special needs: Bebe has Cushings disease so will need medication to control. If you are interested in Bebe, consider letting us know by filling out a (no-obligation) adoption application. Please consult our Adoption FAQ before contacting us. Please check the adoption-show-attendees page (http://www.pgspca.org/adopt/adoption-show-attendees/) to see if Bebe will be attending the next adoption show. NOTE: We are an all volunteer group and do not operate a shelter. All of our animals are in foster homes. We are unable to place our animals outside of the Baltimore/DC area.
