Please contact Kallie Brennan (kallieb@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.not of the Moe and Larry type! CURLY NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Curly      Best Guess for Breed:  Flat coated retriever and Lab mix    Best Guess for Age:   2 years as of April 2024     SEX:  Male   Approximate Weight:  50 lbs   Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested   Currently Living at:    South Carolina shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get his freedom ride up here.   Special adoption considerations: Curly is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky!  They are part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study will be placed at random, in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, this pup will be eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  Post treatment, we will work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test 6 months after treatment concludes, followed by a second test at 9 months.   Curly is Looking For:  A home where he gets treated with dignity and respect. He's tired of going to the dog park and being greeted by jeers - 'Where's Larry? Where's Moe?' and being victim of juvenile slapstick pranks. Enough of that. Plus, his coat is extra lush and gorgeous, so that name is extra irritating.    What he wants is long sniffy walks, romps in the park, and all the adventures his humans can dream up. He's in his prime and world exploration is high on his wish list! Quality kibble and a cushy dog bed are on it too, but you know what he wants most of all? To know he's safe and loved for all his days - and to whom to devote all the loyalty in his heart.   What do you say? Will that be you?   What My Foster Says About Me:   We will update this once he has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with his foster   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out an Adoption Questionnaire at  https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/43315/genericYou can learn about the adoption process by visiting:  http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/howtoadopt/.  Dog's Name:  Pup Zion (ZIO0224CHEMD)Estimated Breed:  Flat-Coated Retriever MixApproximate Age:  DOB 12/20/2023 Approximate Weight:  40 LBS Currently Living at:  Foster  Adoption Fee:  $500DOG'S DESCRIPTION:  Hi!  I am a very sweet, shy boy who is looking for my forever home.  I am doing well in my foster home with all of my foster friends but it does take me some time to warm up to new environments.  My wish is to find a calm home with a backyard with other sweet furry friends to play with. I love to play but I also have a very laid-back personality. I am extremely affectionate and gentle. I am also doing great with housebreaking. At my young age, I am in my prime for training and socialization too. Please remember that young puppies require a lot of time, love, and patience to become the best doggie citizens they can be. I promise to bring joy, laughter, and unconditional love to your life. Will you be my new family? Submit an application today. Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.           Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (at partner vet if not fixed before adoption), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets. Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit  http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/  or email our Foster Coordinator at  foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSponsor Me!    Make a  tax-deductible donation  today by visiting us at http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/donate/  . Story
ADOPT ME ONLINE: https://ophrescue.org/dogs/13477Hi! My name is Bonnie and I’m part of the B Crew litter of black Lab mixes. I’m guessed to be born around 11/29/23 and currently weigh about 27 lbs, which should put me in the 50 lb range when full grown. My mama's owner said she was a purebred Black Lab but, alas, my dad is unknown. I love walking on a leash (check out my video) and would make a great hiking, jogging or running buddy. During my walk I love to find a stick to carry around with me. I really love to play with the other foster pups here and I get along fanstastically with all canines. I am also very affectionate with humans and I especially love to get attention from my foster family. I have good manners and I know to sit when I meet people, even if sometimes I really want to jump up to say hello (my foster family is working with me on this). Of course I really love food! Sometimes I gobble too quickly so my foster family sometimes uses a slow feeder, which helps. On the plus side, my love of food makes me pretty easy to train!I have graduated with a degree in crate training, so now I don't mind being in my crate. I'm also potty trained, as long as I get regular potty breaks. I'm a sweet pup who will make a great companion for any family. I am still young, though, and will need someone to teach me how to be the best pup ever. In exchange I promise to give you all the love and puppy kisses you want!See me in action here:On the leashI'm spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and monthly preventatives and ready to go home with my new family.
