Story
Meet MAISY! Maisy is a gorgeous, 2 year old, 45 pound female flat coat retriever/lab mix with a beautiful fan tail. Her smile and expressive eyes with the white on her toes add to her looks, and her sweet and lovable personality. She gets along great with other dogs. Maisy is a social butterfly that warms up quickly in new situations, and loves to get belly rubs. She seems to understands house training and is crate trained. While Maisy settles down nicely to hang out, at about 2 years old, she also is playful. She will need exercise, patience and reinforcement of training so this young dog can become the well-behaved dog she can be. Poor Maisy ended up in a North Carolina shelter, which was beyond capacity; luckily for Maisy a local foster got her out of the shelter giving her a safe place to stay until we could bring this extremely sweet dog into PetConnect. Maisy is very happy to now be in the DC area to find a forever family that will give her the attention that she deserves and never abandon her to wander the streets or end up in a high-kill shelter. Maisy would love to curl up with you to hang out on a cool fall night! She would be an excellent new member of the family! Maisy is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines and preventatives and eager to find a family to love! The adoption fee for Maisy is $350, which includes routine vetting, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. ***Please note that our first step is to fill out an application (it does not commit you in anyway but allows us to discuss with you if you and the dog are a good fit). In addition, an important step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies ), spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** Please fill out an application and contact Robin at kinstondogs@verizon.net for more information on Maisy. I have no formal training and I am very puppy-like in my behavior, so I definitely need someone who is willing to put in the time and energy to exercise and train me. I am not crate or house trained yet. I need a fenced yard with a tall fence, as I love to run, jump and play. As for other dogs, I like those who can keep up with my high energy as I am a rough player. I'd probably do best with a companion dog my size or larger or fine as an only dog, as long as I get a lot of exercise. If you think you can meet my exercise and training needs, please put in an application! Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.       Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.NOTE- CARRIE IS LISTED AS A COURTESY FOR ANOTHER RESCUE ORGANIZATION. Story
Howdy, my name is Bogart Deuce, but my friends call me Bogart. I'm a 3 1/2 month-old Lab mix and weigh 28 lbs (as of early November 2023). I don’t remember much of my early puppy months other than I was found as a stray. The nice people at the shelter brought me in and gave me a temporary place to lay my head until PAW scooped me up. Are you looking for a dog who just wants to cuddle in your lap while looking at you with adoration through beautiful green eyes? Then I'm looking for you too! I am a fun-loving, handsome, and playful puppy who may need a refresher on potty training. I have the softest brown fur that wrinkles up on my forehead when I'm giving kisses or smiling up at you. The people at PAW say that I am a beautiful dog, good on a leash, and a "cuddle bug" (not sure what that means but I think it is a good thing). I do great with children (except I do need to lick them to say "hello") and other dogs. So, what do you say, how about giving me a chance?  PAW places animals in the Washington, DC/Baltimore Metropolitan area only. ##1868903##

Story
Hello, I’m Brian, a 3 month old (as of October 2023), lab x puppy. I don’t know why my previous owner surrendered me to the shelter, but I don’t let that keep me down. You can say I’m the typical fun-loving, cute, and playful puppy.  As a growing puppy, I may need help with potty training and how to walk on a leash, but I know I can learn anything with positive reinforcement and lots of yummy treats! The wonderful PAW volunteers assured me that I’d find a loving home soon. Will you consider opening your home and heart to me? Story
Stubbz is a 1 year old, 54 lb., Bassett Hound/Labrador Retreiver mix.   Stubbz is still in the puppy stage, energetic, trusting and loving. He is a "professional cuddler" and finds joy in resting nearby whenever possible. He is easy to walk with minimum pulling.  He is the ideal pet for an active person or family. He is house and crate trained. And, after a long day of fun, he will normally walk into his open crate, fluff his blankets and go to sleep on his own. He loves toys and will steal your heart with his big smile! Stubbz will do best in a home with older kids (teens) or adults only as he can be very mouthy and still needs training. He loves to play and doesn't understand that his mouthiness isn't always enjoyed by his human friends! With some patience, training, and a lot of stimulation, Stubbz will make the perfect addition to your family! PAW places animals in the Washington DC/Baltimore Metropolitan areas only. ##1786501##
