Story
Meet Masha, a dog with a heart full of love. Her personality is a delightful mix of playful energy and shy sweetness. Masha's friendly nature makes her a joy to be around, while her independent streak adds a unique charm to her character. She enjoys playtime, whether it's a game of fetch or a fun puzzle toy. But she's also content to spend time on her own, exploring her surroundings or simply enjoying a quiet moment. Masha's shy side makes her a bit reserved at first, but once she warms up, her affectionate nature shines through. She's looking for a forever home where she can share her love and playful spirit. Adopting Masha means gaining a loyal friend who will bring joy, fun, and a touch of independent spirit into your life. Masha was an outdoor dog in her previous home and may need to adjust to life inside if she will be in the home. Because she can be a bit shy when in a new environment, we recommend that any children in her home are age 10 or older so they can understand her needs. She likes to say hello to other dogs with a gentle nip, which not every dog may like. We will be providing dog introductions to potential adopters who already have a canine companion at home to see if they will be a good match.Adoption fee: WaivedMonthly Promotion Applies

Auggie is a nice dog, but he does not realize how big he is. When the kids are over he runs to get out the door or anywhere and knocks them down he even pushes us out the way. The little dogs bark at him sometimes he pushes them with his head again doesn’t realize how big he is and they slam against the wall. Other than that he is a good dog he just sits there or wants to play fetch, he loves the water but gets ear infections easily. Auggie is a good dog we just can’t take care of him like we can.

Baby Girl’s name is so appropriate! She is such an innocent and eager to please. Baby Girl is fully house-trained. She will not get on furniture unless invited. She takes treats with a gentle mouth. She has excellent recall and likes to stay within eye-shot of her people. She only needs a quiet command of “sit”, “down”, "mine" (i.e. no begging) or "shhhh" to stop barking. She is gentle on lead. She loves going for rides car and is trained to stay in the rear. She is non-aggressive and loves to play with other dogs or ‘tug-of-war’ with her family. She hasn’t fully learned how big and strong she so a home with small children would not be recommended at this time. She is a natural watchdog, protective of her home and her people. After exercise, her favorite pastime is napping at your feet, especially if it includes belly rubs.

NOTE: RENO IS WITH A PRIVATE PARTY, NOT GSRSV. I AM LISTING HER ON THIS WEBSITE TO GIVE HER MORE ADOPTION EXPOSURE. PLEASE CONTACT EMMA KEMP AT 323-536-6714 OR EMMAKEMP88@HOTMAIL.COM. "Reno" is a 55-60 lb, approx 2-yo spayed female GSD mix who is energetic, fearful/anxious and affectionate. She loves nothing more than a good belly rub! She's healthy and up-to-date on her vaccinations. Reno is very shy with people she's never met before. When a visitor comes into the house, she will hide in another room and bark loudly. When out on walks, she will avoid people. Reno has not been around young children since she was adopted; given her timidness around adults, it’s hard to say how she’ll do with youngsters. Reno appears to be good with other dogs. She has played regularly with a male Weimaraner at a sporting dog kennel where she is receiving both canine and human socialization and training. Reno has a strong prey drive and is NOT good with cats. Reno is housetrained and non-destructive in the house. She has never chewed up anything but her toys. Her people keep her in a crate when they are gone for more than an hour; she hates being by herself and cries for long periods when let alone. Her people also keep her crated at night to allow their cats a chance to roam the house freely. Reno has received some obedience training and obeys commands such as “down” and “stay.” She is a fast learner and very treat-motivated, which has helped speed her training. She walks OK on leash, but can become a little too playful and start nipping at her handler’s heels. If she is startled by another dog she sometimes reaches a state of anxiety where she will bark at her handler in a seemingly aggressive manner. Reno rides calmly in the car, but appears nervous while doing so. Reno loves playing fetch and tug, as well as chewing on stuffed toys. Reno has many behavioral issues that she needs help overcoming. She is fearful of not only new people but most new environments. She gets overly-excited in certain situations, such as when greeting her people in the morning; it’s as if she hasn’t seen them in ages and she becomes very mouthy. She demands attention and it can be difficult to bring her down when she is worked up. Reno is definitely a “project dog”, but she has many good traits which outshine her drawbacks. She is a loving dog who will continue to make progress in the right hands and reward her people with love and loyalty. Reno's people adopted her from the municipal animal shelter in Joshua Tree (Southern California desert) in May 2021. Reno is a bit too large of a training project than they are capable of handling, and they also know Reno can't coexist with their cats. Reno is located in Los Angeles. No rehoming fee is requested. Please contact Emma Kemp at 323-536-6714 or emmakemp88@hotmail.com.

Story
"Charlie" is an approx 80-lb, 8-yo neutered male GSD who is super-affectionate, incredibly loyal and easy-going. Charlie is friendly with everyone he meets (not a great watchdog) and great with young children. He recently lived with a family with two young boys (7 & 10-yrs old) and he was great with them. He takes treats gently from hand but sometimes forgets that he's not a little lap dog. Charlie loves to snuggle in bed! Charlie is good with medium & large dogs, but NOT good w/ small dogs. He's also not good w/ high-energy dogs--he wants to run after them and "correct" them. Because Charlie has exhibited a prey drive towards small dogs he's almost certainly NOT good with cats. Charlie is completely housetrained and can be left inside for hours without issue. However, if you have lever-style door "knobs", be sure the lever is locked because Charlie is smart enough to open a door with such levers. Charlie knows a few basic commands such as sit and lie down. He pulls very strong on leash initially, so needs a person strong enough to handle him and who is willing to work with him in this area. Charlie hasn't shown much affinity for toys since he's been with me but the other day he picked up a ball and trotted off with it, so maybe there's a playful pup hidden in Charlie. Charlie is in great health. He has a straight back, sound hips and fluid mobility. His ear tips have permanent scarring from fly strike (due to unsanitary conditions outdoors). A family in North Highlands raised Charlie from a pup. However, both his people became ill and were no longer able to provide him with exercise or much attention. I received a request in May from their daughter to rehome him. I went to meet Charlie on May 19, 2021, and he literally begged me to take him with me--so I did! A family with boys ages 10 & 7 yrs and a small female Terrier mix adopted Charlie on June 13.Charlie did fantastic in most regards, especially with the boys. However, he would often harass the little dog and his people never trusted him enough to leave him alone with her. Charlie also did not do well with small dogs in their neighborhood. On one occasion he got out and bit a little dog—not bad enough for vet attention, but it put his people on notice. In late August, Charlie opened the front door (which has a lever-style door “knob”) and set his sites on a little dog whose people were walking it across the street. This time, Charlie did enough damage to send the dog to the vet. (The dog was OK, but it cost Charlie’s people about $2K in vet bills.) After this incident, Charlie’s people sadly realized they could no longer keep him due to his strong prey drive so they returned him to me on Aug 16. Since I took Charlie back, he’s been once again perfect w/ all of the GSRSV dogs. So, a home w/ another large dog is certainly an option for him--just no small dogs or cats. Charlie's adoption fee is $160.
