Story
Hi there, I'm Kamala! I am a vivacious pup looking for my furever home. I am old enough that I have outgrown my puppy behaviors but not too old for adventures and playtime. I am very social with people and enjoy getting lots of attention and affection. However, I am not a big fan of children so I ask that any kids in the home be 13 and older. I may do well with another dog with proper introduction. I'm not sure how I feel about cats but I'm also willing to give it a try. I hope that I can find my family who will cherish me and give me the life I so deserve. I will certainly give back all the love, loyalty, and companionship I have to share. Do you think I could be the one for you?---If you are interested in adopting, please come prepared --bring a photo ID, proof of address, and everyone in the home including resident dogs with vaccination history. We are open daily 12-6pm.---The Pennsylvania SPCA - Lancaster Center848 S. Prince St. Lancaster PA 17603Kennel #16516717-917-6979lancaster@pspca.org

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!UPDATE 3/5/2024:  Buddy is having some issues being 'stiff' but as long as you don't have stairs he does great.  He does guard his toys but if you do a trade with a snack he will give them up :)  Looking for a GS experienced ownerUPDATE:  Buddy is looking fantastic!!  He is a little 'stiff' in his old age but I told him its OK so am I!  He LOVES attention, he likes his toys and he is great with the dogs although I think he would be just as happy as an only dog he does fine with all the dogs here at the ranch :)I can only imagine how Buddy must have felt...  Like no one cared, defeated, ready to give up, a banquet for fleas and tics :(  It took us quite a while to get him back to health and still he deals with ear infections from repeated ones not being treated :(  No worries now big man you are loved and valued!Buddy you have your 2nd Chance and we are going to give you an amazing life!!REQUIRES FENCED YARD!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!April 25, 2024, 7:14 pm

Story
Dear Friends, Meet Guts, our beloved (1.5 year old) German Shepherd. Due to recent life changes, we find ourselves in a situation where we must rehome him. It’s a decision that weighs heavily on our hearts, but we believe it’s in Guts’ best interest. Our living environment has become cramped, and Guts deserves room to stretch his paws and explore freely. He loves to run around large open environments, and our property is not ideal for his need to explore and run. We also have other animals in the house that do not like him or appreciate his presence. Guts is very loyal and curious. He loves to walk around each room to see what everyone is up to. He enjoys lettuce and other leafy greens, and his favorite treat are ice cubes. He needs space to explore and run around. We cant always provide him with that so he gets frustrated with us sometimes. I wish to see him paired with someone who absolutely loves dogs and understands how big dogs work. He is a big boy and needs a good leader.

Story
Adopted from rescue at 4 months old. Had medical issues. She just turned 3 years old on March 22nd. Sweet, affectionate dog. Great with dogs, kids, and cats. Has been sick for a year, cannot get her to gain weight. Believed she has IBS. Allergic to chicken and grains. Has crohnic diarrhea. Can mainly only eat salmon type food. Once healthy she will be a fun, energetic, playful and loving companion. I just don't have the funds available to give her what she needs and want to give her a chance with someone who can get her back to herself.

Story
Toby here! Can you hear me? I can hear you with my large radar ears. Some say they are my cutest quality but there is so much more to me than just my ears, read on to see if we are a match! Toby is a 4 year old 52 lb shepherd mix. He is a smart boy   who has had professional training so has all of his basic commands down pat. Toby has shown some guarding behaviors in the past so an owner who can be his pack leader is needed. He has lived with children though and gets along with all humans big and small. He has been living as an only dog in his home, so we are unsure if he could live with another dog, but that’s what meet and greets are for! Cats are unknown at this time. Toby is house and crate trained, but he is such a good boy he can be trusted outside of the crate when home alone.   He is neutered, up to date on vaccines and preventatives and a heartworm survivor! Toby will be waiting in East Earl, PA. Get your application in and once approved you can meet this sweet boy and fall in love.  New Oxford PA 17350; LIC # 9736 We are PA Caring for K-9's, an all-breed dog rescue that is solely run by volunteers. Most of our dogs are rescued from high kill shelters in the South. If the dog is posted, they are still available! Once arriving, these dogs enter foster homes, as we do not have a shelter. We cannot adopt out dogs to a home with dogs that are not fixed or up to date on shots. If interested in adopting, please submit an application online at www.pack9rescue.org. Our adoption fee for altered dogs is $350 and goes directly to saving the lives of more dogs.  Our adoption fee for unaltered puppies will be $400 which includes a refundable $50 deposit upon receipt of spay/neuter certificate.
