Story
Meet Rex 🐶💙—a resilient, affectionate boy with a heart as big as his incredible spirit! Rex was born with congenital megaesophagus, which means he needs to be fed upright in a Bailey chair so his food can safely reach his stomach. He does great with this routine and thrives on a high-quality, nutrient-dense diet, currently The Farmer’s Dog, which has been working wonderfully for him. Rex will need lifelong management, including special feeding routines, possible medications, and regular veterinary checkups to help him feel his best. While this condition may shorten his lifespan, Rex doesn’t let that dim his joy—he’s a loving, social dog who adores spending time with people, soaking up attention, and greeting each day with enthusiasm. Rex is looking for a dedicated adopter who can continue his care and give him the warm, supportive home he truly deserves 🏡❤️ ✨ Bailey chair will be sent home when adopted ✨ - Around 3 years old - Currently just under 75lbs - Good with kids, prefers a slow introduction to dogs and cats. - Adoption fee: $350 To inquire about this dog, please email dogs@adoptapetfenton.com. Include information about your family and pets, what you are looking for in a canine companion, how you plan to exercise and train this dog, and why this specific dog seems like a good fit for your family. Those who provide the previous information will be considered first for this canine. Please do NOT call our center. This will help us match you and the animal the best we can. We usually respond via email within 24-48 hours; please check your spam folder if you don't hear from us. Dog adoption fees include spay/neuter, rabies vaccine (if age-appropriate), distemper/parvo combination vaccine, leptospirosis vaccine (if age-appropriate), bordetella vaccine, deworming, heartworm test (if age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea preventative, a dental cleaning (if necessary), and a microchip. Story
My name is Duke, and I am a 5‑year‑old German Shepherd with a big heart, a sharp mind, and a very waggy tail. At my age, I am a calm, mature dog who still loves to play and explore, but I’m past the wild puppy stage and ready to focus on being someone’s loyal best friend. I am intelligent, confident, and steady, and that’s exactly how I behave, even when things around me are noisy or new. I listen carefully when humans talk, tilting my head, because I understand more than most people think and I want to do the right thing for them. I’m protective but gentle, the kind of dog who will bark to let you know someone is at the door, then relax when you tell me it’s okay. Because my breed is so trainable and eager to learn, I pick up new commands quickly and enjoy using my brain as much as my paws. I would love a family who understands that German Shepherds need both exercise and mental challenges, like learning tricks, sniffing games, or simple jobs around the house.

Story
Hi my name is Hecate! I am a shy kind of dog who is looking for a patient owner who is willing to give me time to adjust and open up in my new home. I can be rather shy so I would prefer a quieter home without younger children or other dogs. Once I get more comfortable, I will come out of my shell and start to show more of my true personality. If you are interested in meeting me, please fill out an adoption survey online or in the shelter.I am currently under the care of the shelter medical team at HSHV. If you would like to learn more about me, please reach out to the Adoption Desk at (734) 662-5585.

Story
Hi my name is Solstice! I am a good girl and I am looking for an active owner willing to offer training and exercise, but in return I can offer unconditional love and years of happiness. Some have described me as a lot, especially when I see other dogs, so I’d do best in a home without other dogs. I do have some big feelings about some things in this world and tend to express this by reacting with barking and may be a bit too much for some families. I will need to continue my training and HSHV offers classes for dogs like me! Visit www.hshv.org for more information.

Story
Hi my name is Condor, I am a sweet and playful boy looking for my forever family! I can be nervous when meeting new people, but with some time and patience I show my playful and silly side! I am very clever and continue to grow with positive reinforcement training methods; I would love to show you how smart I am. I can sometimes get overwhelmed by small children and would do best in a home without them. I will also need a home without birds or small mammals and likely without cats due to my prey drive. I would love a home who has experience with dogs like me and are comfortable with training to reduce bad manners and reactivity. With a proper foundation and love, I will be a fantastic dog! Please come meet me if I could be the handsome pooch for you.

Story
Hiya! I`m Jade, a playful but shy pooch looking for a patient home to settle in to! Life can be scary for a nervous lady like me. New dogs, people, places, and situations all make me a bit weary. I would love to find a family who can help reduce my stress and help me feel more comfortable with new and unknown situations. I can be good with other dogs, but they can sometimes be too much for me, I will need to meet any potential dog siblings before going home. I will also need a home without children under 12 and without small animals like cats and rabbits. Once I feel comfortable in my new home, you will start to see the playful side of me that is full of life and fun! Meet me today if I sound like a good match for your home!
