Story
Ozzy came into my life in a very special way. He was gifted to me at 4 months old by a dear friend who was battling cancer. She wanted to make sure he went to a loving home where he would be safe, cared for, and truly loved and I promised her I would do that for him.Ozzy is now 1 - 1/2 old and has grown into such a sweet, loyal, and loving dog. He has a big heart and an even bigger personality. He absolutely loves to play especially with his giant wooden blocks and enjoys chewing on bigger toys. He’s an active dog who needs space to run, play, and get his energy out. A home with a yard or someone who enjoys being outdoors would be perfect for him.Ozzy is also incredibly affectionate. He loves to cuddle, be close to you, and feels happiest when he’s part of a “pack.” While he can be on his own, he truly thrives when he has people around him.He listens well and is a good boy, but like many young German Shepherds, he would benefit from continued training and structure to help him.

Story
Shepherd Lovers — Meet Canela Canela is a beautiful 6-year-old German Shepherd who is looking for a new place to call home.Due to a change in her owner’s work situation, Canela was spending long hours alone outside in the backyard. She loves people so much that, in her search for new friends, she started jumping the 4-foot fence and wandering the neighborhood. Thankfully, a kind neighbor brought her in to keep her safe. Her owner has made the decision to surrender her so she can find a family that can spend time with her.Canela loves people! She is a very smart dog with a ton of energy, and loves to cuddle!  She has interacted with neighborhood kids, she does well with other dogs with slow, proper introductions. She is NOT cat-friendly, so a cat-free home is required.  Canela would benefit from someone with breed experience who is committed to training her. She is VERY good motivated and loves the freeze dried treats. In two days in a new condo setting, her foster was able to teach her not to bark at people walking by. Canela would also benefit from a fenced yard while her family works with her to reinforce her leash walking and her recall.Canela has been calm and non-destructive when left alone for periods of time. She rides well in the car, walks pretty well on a leash, loves to run around a fenced in back yard, and is a sucker for stuffed animals!  If you’re interested in adopting Canela, please apply at ricopetrecovery.org 🐾The adoption fee for Canela is $200. She has been spayed and her vaccines are up to date.

Story
Meet Cain Cain is a handsome 7-year-old German Shepherd weighing about 85 pounds, with soulful eyes, impressive ears, and the kind of loyal presence Shepherd lovers know and adore. He is looking for a calm, adult-oriented home where he can truly relax and enjoy life. Cain does not do well with the unpredictability and energy of young children, so his future home should have no young kids. Respectful teenagers around 16 and older may be okay for him.And shine he does.Cain is the kind of dog who enjoys both adventure and downtime. He still has plenty of pep in his step for a 7-year-old and loves playing fetch, exploring outdoors, and spending time with his people. But he’s equally happy settling in beside you at the end of the day, content just being near his person while you relax and watch TV. He has a calm, steady nature in public and does well meeting adult guests in the home. His previous family clearly invested time into him. Cain has solid obedience training, including on- and off-leash work, and knows how to settle nicely on a place command when visitors are around or meals are happening. His adopter will receive his training equipment and guidance on the routines that help him succeed.Cain would do best in a peaceful, predictable home where he can enjoy his golden years without the stress and chaos that can come with young children. He has done well with female dogs and has also been safe around cats.Beneath that shepherd intelligence and alert expression is a dog who simply wants a calm home, clear structure, and someone to love him for exactly who he is.Cain is healthy, well cared for, and still has so much life and companionship left to give. His future family will also receive several large bags of food generously donated to help make his transition easier. If you’re a shepherd lover looking for a loyal companion and can offer the calm home Cain needs, he may just be your perfect match.Apply at www.caninecollective.org.
