Story
Murphy was known as Sean at the shelter at San Antonio. He had been injured by a car and was taken to the shelter where he was placed on the euthanasia list after a few short days. He didn’t have much hope left and had given up. After seeing the sadness in his eyes, we knew we had to help. He was transported to Ohio and was seen by our orthopedic surgeon who determined he had to lose his long beautiful tail, but there was also a good chance he would need a femoral head ostectomy to correct his hip and leg. Because a small amount of healing was noted, he was given 3 weeks to determine if his body would heal enough on its own and we could spare him the pain of surgery. That turned out to be the case, so this sweet guy only lost his tail. Murphy is doing wonderfully and continues to heal and gain strength. He has been cleared for adoption and is hoping to find a very loving family to give him the life he deserves. Murphy is a shepherd mix. Best guess by the vet is a mix with Chow Chow because of his tiny, flopped over ears, but we aren’t sure. Coco is an adventurous dog who has seen it all. He has been a loyal protector from our walks during desert sunsets to winter hikes with moose and fox. He loves walks, fetch, tug of war, dog parks, swimming in rivers, and sunbathing. He loves when kids come up to pet him, and he enjoys time with other dogs too. We have been blessed to have him for seven years, but we no longer have the time or space to give him the adventure and play he deserves. We hope to find a home where he will have space to roam, or plenty of active play time with humans and dogs.

Story
I got my dog, Rita a female German Shepherd, in 2020 when I was in the beginning of college. My plans for her was to train her to be a therapy dog and take her to hospitals and nursing homes. I have done extensive training with her and she is an amazing dog. Unfortunately for Rita, my life has gone in a different direction to where I cannot train with her as much and give her what would fulfill her potential. Furthermore we are starting a family do not have the time to take care of her. After over a year of thinking about this, I believe it would be best to find her a home that could give her a job and purpose. She has just turned 5, and she is very healthy.
