Story
Ozzy came into my life in a very special way. He was gifted to me at 4 months old by a dear friend who was battling cancer. She wanted to make sure he went to a loving home where he would be safe, cared for, and truly loved and I promised her I would do that for him.Ozzy is now 1 - 1/2 old and has grown into such a sweet, loyal, and loving dog. He has a big heart and an even bigger personality. He absolutely loves to play especially with his giant wooden blocks and enjoys chewing on bigger toys. He’s an active dog who needs space to run, play, and get his energy out. A home with a yard or someone who enjoys being outdoors would be perfect for him.Ozzy is also incredibly affectionate. He loves to cuddle, be close to you, and feels happiest when he’s part of a “pack.” While he can be on his own, he truly thrives when he has people around him.He listens well and is a good boy, but like many young German Shepherds, he would benefit from continued training and structure to help him.

Story
Shepherd Lovers — Meet Canela Canela is a beautiful 6-year-old German Shepherd who is looking for a new place to call home.Due to a change in her owner’s work situation, Canela was spending long hours alone outside in the backyard. She loves people so much that, in her search for new friends, she started jumping the 4-foot fence and wandering the neighborhood. Thankfully, a kind neighbor brought her in to keep her safe. Her owner has made the decision to surrender her so she can find a family that can spend time with her.Canela loves people! She is a very smart dog with a ton of energy, and loves to cuddle!  She has interacted with neighborhood kids, she does well with other dogs with slow, proper introductions. She is NOT cat-friendly, so a cat-free home is required.  Canela would benefit from someone with breed experience who is committed to training her. She is VERY good motivated and loves the freeze dried treats. In two days in a new condo setting, her foster was able to teach her not to bark at people walking by. Canela would also benefit from a fenced yard while her family works with her to reinforce her leash walking and her recall.Canela has been calm and non-destructive when left alone for periods of time. She rides well in the car, walks pretty well on a leash, loves to run around a fenced in back yard, and is a sucker for stuffed animals!  If you’re interested in adopting Canela, please apply at ricopetrecovery.org 🐾The adoption fee for Canela is $200. She has been spayed and her vaccines are up to date.

Story
Meet April 🌷🌸She is always wagging her tail and eager to make new friends. She’s incredibly friendly with all people and has such a gentle, happy energy that makes everyone fall in love instantly. She absolutely loves her toys and playing fetch, and she’s been doing wonderfully on walks—no reactivity to other dogs. At home, she’s just as amazing: she sleeps peacefully through the night on the bed and hasn’t had a single accident in the house. She’s a smart pup who wants to please, but she’s still learning that her people will always come back. Because of her past, she does experience separation anxiety and isn’t comfortable being left alone right now. She’ll need a patient, understanding family who can help her build confidence and trust over time. She truly is such an amazing dog who is incredibly resilient! She will make a family so happy 🩷 April is currently afraid to be crated and will need time that get used to that. She had been to doggy day care and loved it!April is a German Shepherd mix. She is smart and waiting to be trained. She will need a family who understands shepherd/herding breeds and is willing to train her to become the best girl!  Apply to meet April at ricopetrecovery.org. The $350 adoption fee for April includes vaccines, the spay surgery and a microchip at our partner vet.

Story
Meet Jasmine 🌸If you're looking for a German Shepherd with a heart of gold and an adorable one-ear-up, one-ear-down expression, we'd love for you to meet Jasmine. This beautiful 7-year-old shepherd weighs about 69 pounds and has quickly become a favorite among our volunteers. Jasmine recently lost her home through no fault of her own, but she has handled every change with remarkable grace and resilience. One of the first things people notice about Jasmine is her sweet, friendly personality. Whether she's out for a walk, meeting new people, or attending adoption events, Jasmine takes everything in stride. In fact, she has attended multiple adoption events and impressed volunteers with her calm, easygoing nature. She has done well around adults, children, and all the hustle and bustle that comes with public events, making her a wonderful companion for families who enjoy including their dog in everyday activities. At 7 years old, Jasmine has found that wonderful sweet spot between playful and practical. She walks beautifully on leash, has excellent manners, and is easy to handle, but don't mistake her for a couch potato. The way to Jasmine's heart just might be a tennis ball! If you're interested in a backyard game of fetch, Jasmine is more than ready to join in. Don't let Jasmine's age fool you—when a tennis ball appears, this girl lights up. Check out the video at the end of her photos to see her in action. When Jasmine arrived at Canine Collective, she needed treatment for a skin condition. Through medicated baths and veterinary care, she never stopped being sweet and cooperative. She's feeling great now, has been spayed, and is more than ready to start her next chapter.Jasmine seems to do well with other dogs and would love a home where she can be included in everyday life. Whether that's neighborhood walks, relaxing on the couch, attending community events, or enjoying a game of fetch in the backyard, Jasmine is ready to be your loyal companion. And if she greets you with that signature head tilt and one floppy ear? Consider yourself warned — it's nearly impossible not to fall in love.Apply to meet Jasmine at www.caninecollective.org.
