Story
Coco is a sweet, goofy girl with a big heart and an even bigger personality. She loves making people smile with her silly antics and has a playful spirit that makes every day a little brighter. Whether she’s happily following you around the house, playing with her favorite toy, or just relaxing by your side, Coco is happiest when she’s with the people she loves. Making the decision to rehome her has been one of the hardest choices I’ve had to make. I never imagined I’d have to say goodbye, but I’m deploying soon and won’t be able to give Coco the stable home and attention she deserves. She means so much to me, and my only goal is to find her a family who will love her as deeply as I do. Coco deserves a home where she’ll be included as part of the family, given plenty of love, patience, and time to be her goofy self. In return, she’ll reward you with loyalty, affection, and countless moments that will make you laugh.

Story
Shepherd Lovers — Meet Canela Canela is a beautiful 6-year-old German Shepherd who is looking for a new place to call home.Due to a change in her owner’s work situation, Canela was spending long hours alone outside in the backyard. She loves people so much that, in her search for new friends, she started jumping the 4-foot fence and wandering the neighborhood. Thankfully, a kind neighbor brought her in to keep her safe. Her owner has made the decision to surrender her so she can find a family that can spend time with her.Canela loves people! She is a very smart dog with a ton of energy, and loves to cuddle!  She has interacted with neighborhood kids, she does well with other dogs with slow, proper introductions. She is NOT cat-friendly, so a cat-free home is required.  Canela would benefit from someone with breed experience who is committed to training her. She is VERY good motivated and loves the freeze dried treats. In two days in a new condo setting, her foster was able to teach her not to bark at people walking by. Canela would also benefit from a fenced yard while her family works with her to reinforce her leash walking and her recall.Canela has been calm and non-destructive when left alone for periods of time. She rides well in the car, walks pretty well on a leash, loves to run around a fenced in back yard, and is a sucker for stuffed animals!  If you’re interested in adopting Canela, please apply at ricopetrecovery.org 🐾The adoption fee for Canela is $200. She has been spayed and her vaccines are up to date.

Story
Murphy was known as Sean at the shelter at San Antonio. He had been injured by a car and was taken to the shelter where he was placed on the euthanasia list after a few short days. He didn’t have much hope left and had given up. After seeing the sadness in his eyes, we knew we had to help. He was transported to Ohio and was seen by our orthopedic surgeon who determined he had to lose his long beautiful tail, but there was also a good chance he would need a femoral head ostectomy to correct his hip and leg. Because a small amount of healing was noted, he was given 3 weeks to determine if his body would heal enough on its own and we could spare him the pain of surgery. That turned out to be the case, so this sweet guy only lost his tail. Murphy is doing wonderfully and continues to heal and gain strength. He has been cleared for adoption and is hoping to find a very loving family to give him the life he deserves. Murphy is a shepherd mix. Best guess by the vet is a mix with Chow Chow because of his tiny, flopped over ears, but we aren’t sure. If you would like to meet this lovebug, please submit an application on our website, canaananimalsanctuary.org.

Story
Shotta is a great friendly family dog. He’s only been with me from a breeder since a puppy. He’s house trained as well as crate trained. He’s great with other dogs big and small as well as children. He listens pretty well to commands. All he wants is love and attention all day. Though he is capable of staying home alone for a work shift or a day outside of the house.
