Say hello to Mama Sasha, a lovable, playful 1.5 year old girl who's ready to be the heart of her new family! Sasha is as friendly as they come and is ready to befriend anyone she meets! She’s wonderful with kids—gentle, patient, and always up for playtime or a cuddle on the couch. She’s also a social butterfly with other dogs, big or small, and would fit right into a home with canine siblings. She is being fostered with both large and small dogs and she would love to have another playful dog in her new home! Sasha is an easygoing travel buddy—great in the car and eager to tag along on any adventure. Whether it’s a trip to a coffee shop, a hike, or an afternoon at the dog park, Sasha is curious, confident, and excited to explore the world by your side. Sasha is well behaved and knows house manners. She is potty trained, crate trained, knows "sit," and seems eager to learn more commands. She seems to look to her people and doggie friends for direction sometimes and takes correction and cues from people and other dogs very well! This happy girl is full of life and love. Whether you're out on an adventure or hanging out at home, Sasha will be right by your side, tail wagging and ready to love! To watch Sasha's video: https://youtu.be/1dAGg4ijHgw?si=8Nho9mrphR3duH2M To apply to adopt Sasha, please visit the following link: https://forms.gle/iWKCAs4EjVJQJbnYA Dreaming of Furever Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue that adopts cats and dogs from South Texas to the Pacific Northwest, Colorado, and the East Coast. The adoption process consists of an application, reference checks, phone interview, and video chat with the pet and foster parent! The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, vaccines (rabies, DHPP and booster, and Bordatella), microchip with free lifetime registration, deworming, transport, heartworm test, heartworm and flea prevention during the pet's time in our program as well as 2 free months of heartworm and flea prevention to be sent in their adoption packet! We are volunteers with a passion to reduce the stray population and unnecessary euthanasia in South Texas. According to Shelter Animals Count, an almost 100,000 cats and dogs were euthanized in Texas shelters in 2024. By transporting our adoptable pets to areas with fewer unwanted pets, they have a better chance of quickly finding loving homes, while also freeing up space in Texas shelters and giving more local animals a chance at life. Story
The personality. The face. The size. The EARS! Everything about Kaiser Cruz from head to toe, inside out, is literal perfection. Shepherd lovers better hurry up because he won't be available for long. He is snuggly, dog friendly, loves the outdoors, smart, and great with kids! The list can quite literally go on and on and on. Biggest flex this boy has are those amazing ears. Full of personality and full of cuteness. Watch his video and fall in love with this sweet boy: https://youtu.be/ajZy2JOkRrw?si=SuyuCzdNV99fOIl2 Kaiser Cruz is believed to be a Shepherd mix approximately 8 years old and currently weighs 64 lbs. He is a rescue dog and with any rescue it's always a mystery, and we cannot guarantee breed or age. Kaiser is the perfect combination of affection while also being independent. He's not overly needy with his love nor does he ever over do it. If you're someone that works from home, he'll be a great work from home buddy because he's not going to be constantly begging you for attention or getting into things he shouldn't be (he has wonderful house manners I might add). He's the type that will come up to you when the time is right for a little ear/nose scratch almost as if he knew you needed a 5 min break from work. As for the rest of the time, he's a window watcher and loves looking out windows or he'll be playing with a toy. While Kaiser waits for his forever family, he is being spoiled by his foster family and they absolutely adore him and rave about him. He is currently fostered in a home with kids ages 4 and 8 years old, and Kaiser has been nothing but sweet perfection around the kids in his foster home. They have the best time playing together, snuggling, and he loves being a part of a family dynamic. Kaiser is very tolerant with all of the kids in the home and just loves them to pieces. He has no issues when the kids are playing with his toys, running around, and is frequently found giving them the gentlest kisses. It's the sweetest thing! If you have kids and are looking for a bestie for your kiddos, Kaiser is definitely your guy. Not only is Kaiser great with kids, he is also very dog friendly and has done great with all the dogs we have introduced him to and is also fostered in a home with an 8 month old playful pittie mix. Kaiser has been around dogs all with different personalities and has done great with every single one. Kaiser is wonderful about meeting new dogs and will either play with them or will go off and do his own thing. That's what is so great about him, the way he is able to adapt to the dogs around him. He can run around, have a good time and he also just as happy going off and doing his own thing while the other dogs are being wild. Kaiser is more about exploring and doing his own thing rather than playing with other dogs. Though when Kaiser does play, he plays like a total shepherd. If you know shepherds or have ever owned one, then you know they love mouthy air play, will give nose boops where they see fit LOL, and use their paws like they are professional boxers at times all while keeping things lighthearted and fun. Shepherd play is definitely entertaining to say the least. Kaiser would love to have a dog sibling in the home, but if you don't have one, that's okay too. He does not need the company of another dog to satisfy his energy needs or to help him open up. Kaiser would love to be in a home with a backyard where he can sunbathe anytime he wants, roll in the grass, and explore all the fun smells. He would make a great companion while you garden and relax on the patio enjoying the fresh air. He’ll enjoy going on neighborhood walks, mini adventures and then will happily lay next to you for cozy time. Kaiser is such a good boy, a 10/10! Now, he just needs a family to call his own. We are willing to test Kaiser Cruz with anything you need in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know. Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life? Story
From the moment you meet Lentil Lou, one thing becomes very clear...life is simply more fun with her in it. This sweet, goofy girl has the joyful spirit of an oversized shepherd puppy, paired with a heart that seems to have endless love to give. Lentil Lou is incredibly social and greets the world with pure happiness, always ready to make a new friend whether they have two legs or four. She absolutely adores other dogs and lights up during playtime, bouncing around with playful enthusiasm and charming silliness that’s impossible not to smile at. Equal parts cuddly sweetheart and playful goofball, Lentil Lou brings laughter, affection, and nonstop cuteness wherever she goes. If you’ve been looking for a dog who will fill your days with fun, companionship, and a whole lot of love, Lentil Lou might just be your perfect match. Watch her video and you'll be smitten by her: https://youtu.be/xErEmx2U-Is?si=fBol9-3XA2TNA5Ej Lentil Lou is believed to be a German Shepherd mix approximately 1 year old and currently weighs 48 lbs. She is a rescue dog and with any rescue it’s always a mystery and we cannot guarantee breed or age. We do know that Lentil is as sweet as they come, and to add to her greatness, she is essentially a full-grown puppy with that adorable puppy face of hers. This little lady loves to love and adores every person she meets. The term stranger danger does not exist in her vocabulary. She is the definition of a social butterfly, and with her, you’ll have a bestie to explore with, a snuggly princess to binge-watch your favorite shows with, and the sole reason your camera roll will always be full. She has been around kids and has been nothing but gentle around young kids. We do believe that she would be happiest in a home with kids 12 and older. Lentil is very dog friendly and loves to make friends with other dogs. She has been around dogs with all different temperaments, from large dominant males to submissive quiet ladies, and her personal favorite… the playful party pups. Lentil loves to play with other dogs and has the best time romping around, wrestling, playing chase, sharing toys, and also enjoys simply hanging out. She’s not all about bringing the party vibes all the time; she appreciates downtime and relaxing at home with her new friends as well. Lentil would do great in a home with another playful dog like herself but can also be your one and only. She does not need the company of another dog to feel comfortable or open up. Lentil is a social butterfly by nature and would love to be the center of your world. Lentil is a smart gal too! She brings the brains to every training session. She is very treat motivated and eager to please. She already knows how to sit, and you can tell she is ready to learn it all just by the way she engages with her person. It’s actually pretty cute how much she wants to make you happy. You’ll see it in her video if you haven’t already. She walks fairly nicely on a leash and may pull occasionally out of excitement to go sniff something interesting or say hello to a friendly face. It’s easy to regain her focus, and she responds well to gentle reminders. Lentil is also comfortable tandem walking with other dogs. She is crate trained and potty trained too! With patience, consistency, and of course treats, training with Lentil will be a fun and rewarding bonding experience for you both. Lentil would thrive in a home with a semi-active family that enjoys neighborhood walks and is looking for a super affectionate girl. If you’re someone who loves to host and have people over, Lentil will be the very first one to greet your guests. Not feeling especially social one day? That’s perfectly fine by Lentil, she’ll be happiest wherever you are. She would also make an amazing adventure buddy! Take her to the park, explore nature trails, go on outings, visit your local brewery or beach, and watch her win hearts and gather adoring fans everywhere she goes. We believe Lentil would thrive in a home with a backyard where she can stretch her legs, soak up the sunshine, and happily meander alongside you while you garden or work around the yard. Story
Calling all Shepherd lovers, do we have a SPECIAL and AMAZING boy for you! Let's roll out the red carpet for this handsome fluffy guy named Smiley Wiley. First thing's first, look at how gorgeous he is! He is the definition of a show stopper there is no doubt about that. Not only is he beautiful, he has a personality to match. Solid. Athletic. Loyal. Down for whatever and then happy to crash hard when the day’s done. That’s Smiley Wiley. Built like the kind of dog who naturally looks right walking next to you. Watch his video and you’ll be wanting to take him home ASAP: https://youtu.be/Ly3EZKulfIs?si=hSYua1zY-an6ucNi Smiley Wiley is believed to be a German Shepherd mix approximately 1 year old and currently weighs 65 lbs. Now, Wiley is a rescue dog and we can't guarantee the breed exactly but just based on his looks we are fairly certain Wiley has some GSD in there somewhere. We would love for him to find a home with someone who has a little GSD experience under their belt. Someone who gets their fun loyal spirit and is ready for a loving, adventurous companion. Have you ever met a dog that likes to hug? Well never say never because now you have (virtually at least). When we say Wiley give hugs, we are not exaggerating. He seriously will hug you and it's by far one of our favorite things about him. Truly the biggest bear hugs you will have ever received or experienced. The hugs he gives will absolutely come in hand too when you're having a bad day and you just need a hug. Wiley has you covered in that department, they will make your entire day. Wiley is also great around other dogs and loves being a pack animal. He doesn’t need a home with other dogs but he clearly does well with them! When he finds a playmate, he plays like a total shepherd! Consistent of lighthearted games of chase, wrestling matches, and if you know shepherds, then you know they like to throw paws and love mouthy type play. That is just how Wiley likes to play and that is what we mean by "he plays like a typical GSD." In a home, he would do great with with a fun, happy, confident female that likes to play, enjoys rowdy play and also a dog that appreciates the calmer hangout moments too. We actually believe Wiley would do best in a home with another dog. In new environments and situations, he can get a little nervous around things, even as little as his own shadow. Having another confident dog in the home will help guide him and build his confidence. When it comes to kitties, they are not for him, that GSD in him really says “No thanks!” He thrives on confident leadership, responds incredibly well to structure, and bonds deeply with his person. He's smart, and tuned in, already knows a solid set of commands. Wiley is very treat motivated too and will do anything for a treat but you also don't need one either for him to listen or sit for you. He is super smart and will sit on a dime even if he thinks you have a treat. He already knows how to do so many things like sit, down, and wait. You could probably teach him to do so many other things too. He loves to please and when you are working with him, he is great about making eye contact too. With the right training and guidance, there’s nothing you can throw his way he wouldn’t be able to do. Wiley would be the perfect adventure companion to take with you on walks, hikes, and could even make a fantastic running partner. Yes, Wiley can be a super fun, active, adventurous guy but he also has a calm side as well. He has no problem making himself feel right at home and will lay right on top of you if you let him. Who doesn't love GSD snuggles?! He seems to already have some level of understanding that play time is an outside luxury. Of course, he will play indoors with a toy or tennis ball if you want him to but he is really good about finding a cozy spot on the floor and settling in with his favorite toy and is perfectly content doing his own thing. Wiley has spent plenty of time around younger children while he's out exploring and has done great with them. While he’s good-natured and tolerant of the occasional squeal or quick movements from younger children, he tends to prefer the company of older kids. Older children, around 15 and up are more in tune with his boundaries, they understand when he needs space and can respect his need for a little calm time. He also enjoys more engaging and thoughtful playtime in the yard with older kids such as fetch and running around playing a game of tag your it. He would be great in a home with 1-2 kids ages 15 and up and if you have grandchildren or friends that have younger kids that come and visit, Wiley will be completely happy with that too because it is not an everyday thing. Wiley’s dream home would have a big backyard where he can stretch those legs, smell all the smells, and a place where he can find that perfect spot in the grass to bake in the sun. He would do best with a semi-active family that wants to take their dog with them on hikes, maybe even are looking for a running partner, and also looking for a dog that likes to relax as well. He can certainly do both after he's had some form of mental stimulation. Wiley is the best of both worlds in our eyes. We are willing to test Smiley Wiley with anything you need in order to ensure that it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know. She has that big, over-the-top, all-in kind of love that Shepherd people know and hope for. The kind that makes you laugh, makes you feel wanted, and somehow makes every interaction feel like the best part of her day. But wait…there’s more! Tamera Honey is not only incredibly sweet but she is also amazing with kids, dog friendly, respectful around cats, smart, and the list can go on and on. She’s a special one, no doubt about that. Watch her video and you’ll see just how sweet she is: https://youtu.be/ghl6TxnJ81Q?si=zweDqvJtpjKEIcsn Tamera Honey is believed to be a German Shepherd mix approximately 1–2 years old and currently weighs 58 lbs. She is a rescue dog and with any rescue, it’s always a mystery and we cannot guarantee age or breed. Just based on looks alone, it’s pretty fair to say she has some GSD in that DNA. We’d love to find adopters who have a little GSD experience under their belt, someone who understands their fun, independent spirit and is ready for a loving, adventurous companion. Tamera is dog friendly and has done great with all of the dogs we have introduced. She does prefer slightly slower introductions before jumping into playtime. When she does play, she plays like a total shepherd. If you know shepherds, then you know the vibes. Mouthy air play, little nose boops where she sees fit, and plenty of chase games. It’s entertaining to say the least! Tamera is more of a bounce-around, run-alongside-her-friends kind of girl rather than constant wrestling. She will give a subtle correction if she’s not feeling it or if play gets too rough, like an older sister setting fair boundaries. Always appropriate, always respectful. Tamera would do best with a moderately playful dog that enjoys both playtime and downtime. A buddy who can match that balance would be perfect for her. If you don’t have another dog, that’s totally fine too! Tamera doesn’t need a doggy companion to feel comfortable or fulfilled. She is a total lovebug with her people and will be perfectly happy with backyard play sessions or neighborhood walks with you. Tamera also met our house cat Biggie and did great. She was respectful, didn’t chase, and wasn’t bothered by typical cat behavior. Biggie was comfortable around her as well. While we don’t know her full history with cats, she showed all the right signs. If you have a cat, we can always arrange a meet-and-greet or sleepover to be sure it’s a good fit. Tamera is a smart girl too! She is very treat motivated, eager to please, and already knows so many tricks! She knows how to sit, down, shake, spin, roll over, and speak! Tamera loves to make you happy and gives us the impression that she is the type that you can teach anything too. She walks fairly nicely on a leash and may pull occasionally out of excitement, but she responds well to gentle reminders and is easy to refocus. She’s also comfortable tandem walking with other dogs. On top of that, she is crate trained and potty trained! With consistency and a few treats, any additional training will be a fun and rewarding experience for both of you. Tamera would thrive in a semi-active home that enjoys neighborhood walks, a little adventure, and a whole lot of affection. If you’re someone who loves to host, she will absolutely be the first one at the door greeting your guests. And if you’re having a quiet day at home? That’s perfect too. She’ll be happiest right there with you. She would make an amazing adventure buddy. Take her to the park, explore nature trails, go on outings, or visit your favorite local spots and watch her collect fans everywhere she goes. Tamera would thrive in a home with a backyard where she can stretch her legs, soak up the sunshine, and happily hang out alongside you while you go about your day. With this beautiful gals voice, apartment life won’t be a good fit for her. When it comes to kids, Tamera just gets it. She has been around children as young as 7 and handled it beautifully, like she instinctively knew exactly where she belonged. She was gentle, patient, and so naturally in tune with them, soaking up affection while staying respectful of their space. There’s something really special about the way she interacts with kids. It’s easy, calm, and genuine. She doesn’t come in too hot or overwhelm them, she simply fits right in, like she’s always been part of the family. Tamera has all the makings of a true family dog, the kind who will happily be part of playtime, then settle in right alongside everyone for those quieter, cozy moments. She’s the kind of dog who just wants to be part of your life, wherever that may be. We are willing to test Tamera Honey with anything you need in order to ensure it's a perfect match.
