Story
This is Kapua! She is a 1 year old german shephard/husky mix who is in need of a running partner. She comes from an abusive background where she was malnourished and neglected. After having her for a few weeks, she has gained some weight and is now 63lbs. We will go half on a spay. She unfortunately isn't fitting in well with our dogs, so absolutely no other dogs in the home! She hasn't shown any signs of being aggressive towards people, I can even leave my hand in the food bowl while she eats. However, I also recommend no children, as she is a jumper. We have been house training her, but she needs more work and attention. We attempted clicker training, but because of her past the noise of the click scares her. She is extremely food motivated, so get a bucket of dried liver treats, and she will be your best friend. We know in the right house, she will become an amazing dog. She just needs the right person/people. A house with a large yard or an avid runner would be preferred.

Story
Kallie is absolutely the sweetest and most loving dog you’ll ever meet. She loves cuddles and kisses and is a total lap dog. She is excellent with kids - she has been around kids of all ages from infant to older kids. She is patient and has never snapped at any person for any reason. She is fully updated on shots and has no health problems. Last vet appointment 6 months ago gave her a clean bill of health. She loves toys and playing and her favorite thing is to get the squeaker out of toys as quickly as she can. She has to be an only dog in the home. She loves being top dog a little too much. However, she can be taken on walks around other dogs no problem. She would be an amazing addition to a family who will appreciate her. Unfortunately we have a special needs child and she’s not getting the care she deserves.

FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks! --- Meet Bubble Yum. Her foster mom calls her YumYum and adores her. In her foster home, she's learned all kinds of wonderful puppy manners. She is crate trained, sleeps with the big dogs on the couch or in an open crate. YumYum has come a long way. She is the sweetest girl. YumYum is a German Shepherd / Bully / Husky / Cattle dog mix. She's actually got 8 breeds in her DNA. She can be on the reserved side, cautious of new people and situations, but she's the 'smart' girl of the litter - we can see her thinking about every command. She is the dog that crawls into your lap for TV time, relaxing on your lap. Yum is good with the other dogs in the house, is curious about the cat - but is so responsive to verbal corrections. As Yum has become more comfortable in her foster home, she's joined the 'pack' mentality and can be a little guardy. Again, she is SO responsive to a firm "no" and is easy to work with. We started taking her to training classes to become socialized outside her foster's pack. The first class was stressful for her, but we are committed to keep going and getting her to the point she can visit our favorite brewery! She's going on 'adventures' out to stores and does great in the car. A large fenced yard and other friendly dogs would be great to show her the ropes, she plays well with the foster's 10# dog and her 100# dog! Miss Yum met kids ranging from 4 to 13. She was very leery, hid and barked at the younger children so we are gonna say teen children would be OK, but an adult home would probably be the best home for her. In a new home they will need the 3-3-3 rule applied and time to show their true side. Large breed dog experience a plus. This puppy is about 9 months old, spayed, microchipped and fully vaccinated. She is housebroken. And no free range chickens for Yum... she's not hurt any of the foster's chickens, but there is much interest, chased. We actually have no issues with her if she's down with a person, because she listens so well, but left on her own devices, she may hurt one. Yum needs a dog savvy home... again, she's amazing, but will take some time to adjust in a new home. Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption. Save-A-Mutt requires a training contract and $100 refundable deposit depending on previous dog experience. You pick a trainer in your area, and upon completion of a 6+ week training class, we will refund the deposit. Adoptions typically take place in Stanwood. YumYum is ready for her new home! Adoption fee is $350. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3 and half of your adoption fee may be tax deductible. Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We don’t ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up your puppy.

:) Thanks! --- Meet Harvey. This sweet boy was adopted from us about 6 years ago and the family had a change of life. A recent move had Harvey anxious and unhappy. He had lived his whole life with a littermate. He was returned to us we are a little perplexed, as Harvey settled in happily to his foster home. He's an active boy, but also a couch potato. His foster dad adores him, and is stunned he's still waiting for a forever home. Harvey became a little dog selective, we think he would be awesome (and happier) as an only dog. He loves men! There is a cat in the home, he is unfamiliar with cats, and barks at it. We think a feline free home would be best. Harvey is doing great medically, he just had a full physical and even a dental. Harvey will need a fully fenced yard - with a typical 6 foot fence - or acreage. He has super long 'kangaroo' legs and he can easily hope over a short fence. Daily walks, a tired dog is a good dog, would be awesome. Harvey also loves water! He was featured on the Limelight Pet Project: https://fb.watch/js83odUh-b/ This dog is neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated. Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption. Adoptions take place in Stanwood / Arlington. Adoption fee is $150. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3 and half of your adoption fee may be tax deductible. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks! --- WARNING! Lover Boy Alert! Oh my... Cosmo is such a sweetheart. He just wants to be loved, and cuddled and adored. TV time will have cuddled up next to you on the couch. He's a big active boy - 90 pounds and he will be two years old in April. Shockingly, DNA told us he is a quarter Shepherd, a quarter bully breed and then 50% a ton of other breeds - Aussie, Border Collie, Cattle Dog, etc... that explains his spotty boots. Cosmo's family had a change of life and he was returned to us after about a year and half in his home. He lived with another active dog - and was fostered with oodles of dogs. We think a family with previous dog experience would be great. His family fostered for Save-A-Mutt. They said... Sometimes Cosmo doesn’t know his own strength and overzealousness. In his excitement, he can be happy mouthy. He's quick to take corrections from other dogs and humans. With puppies and young dogs, he will be ready to play at any moment. He will lay on the floor and let them run and jump around him. He will go outside and stay low so that they will chase and run after him. He’s very playful and looks like a galloping pony across the yard. He’s insistent on pets and physical attention. He’s a wonderful snuggler on the couch after a long day of play. He needs physical activity. He is energized by cooler air and will stay in the snow as long as allowed. He snores in deep sleep. He has a lot of puppy in him still. Zoomies at 90 lbs! Cosmo ideal home has a fully fenced yard or property and an active family. He has been around children at events on walks, but because of his 'bigness' we think older children would be better. He does sleep in a crate at night. His 'go potty' is brilliant and he runs to a spot to 'go potty.' He is crate trained and housebroken. Because in a previous foster home, Cosmo was VERY interested in their cat, we think a feline free home is best. Cosmo is great on walks and gets into the stride of staying by your side after the first few blocks. He is most joyous and playful at the beach. He will run and play in the surf for as long as you let him. He plays well with balls and sticks and rubber toys. He tends to chew the strings off rope toys if not watched, but loves tug. Cosmo is neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated. He goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption. Cosmo is covered under pet insurance and it can be transferred. He’s had mild dermatitis and skin allergies that have been easily cleared with one round of an allergy shot. He has shown a reaction to food with poultry and fish and lamb. Paw licking, excessive scratching, ear discomfort. He’s currently the beef and sweet potato food from Kirkland Costco brand with an honest foods freeze dried mix “gravy” and additional vegetables as add ins. Save-A-Mutt requires a training contract and $100 refundable deposit (depending on previous dog experience). Adoptions take place in Stanwood. Adoption fee is $175. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3. Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We don’t ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to cross the border to pick up any adopted dogs.

Story
Ralph is a smaller shepherd mix who is around a year old. He weighs about 40 pounds at the moment. But is still very thin. He was found on the side of the road and was thought to be dead. As I approached he attempted to live but was unable too as he had been hit by a car. He couldn't walk so I quickly wrapped him in my jacket and rushed him to the nearest vet. They informed me he had broken his pelvis in three places. The poor guy was skin and bones and scared of absolutely everything (most likely feral). He was put on crate rest and continued to be nervous and scared around any person or dog that came close. Slowly he has opened up and began trusting us. Although he still gets nervous at times he is extremely food motivated and that is the easiest way to win him over. He loves head and neck scratches as well. A complete sweetheart once he trusts you. He would thrive in a quiet home with a more confident dog or no dog at all. He has food aggression with any food that touches the ground and this should be closely monitored if in a multiple dog household. He can be friendly with other dogs but it takes a day or two for him to warm up to them. He is kennel trained and potty trained. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Local adoption only
