Story
Gear Shift is a puppy that needs to be socialized, positively trained and exercised. A fenced yard would be safest for this guy. He can be shy, but does come around. He is not leash trained, but is willing to please. He will be a lot of fun once he is trained up and comfortable.

Story
Cali is a fun-loving, playful 3-year old female German Sherpherd who is AKC registered and up-to-date on all vaccines. Her favorite things to do are play frisbee, go on long walks and swim. She loves balls, toys, treats, playing fetch and lounging. When she isnt being playful Cali Cookoo and getting her energy out, she is a super snuggler and a great napper. She has been raised around children and other dogs but, like all of us - prefers them to be well-behaved. She was born during early Covid and her human mother worked from home these past few years. She was recently laId off and had no choice but to take a position with a commute and a requirement to work out of town each month as well. This has made it impossible to give Cali all the time and attention she needs. Cali needs her frisbee time, her long walks and maybe some good refreshing swims in the lake or low-current areas of the river -- or even a job on a working ranch!

FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks! --- Meet the Apple litter. Each puppy is so unique looking, and their DNA is just as unique! While mostly GSD, there is a bit Labrador / Catahoula / Husky and more. Lots of fun and friendly breeds. DNA is guessing they will be between 50-75#. These puppies were born 4/29/24 and are just over 4 months old as of September 1st. Gravenstein is the biggest in the litter, about 30# plus at 4 months old. His ears are ridiculous. So shepherd, can't decide what they want to do, however they have recently seemed to stay in the upright position. Ha! He is in foster and learning about all new things - again like a GSD, he's cautious then jumps right in! He met the big and little dogs in the foster home and got along great. We think their ideal home has a large fenced yard and a family ready to get this puppy out and socialized. They are currently in foster homes with other dogs, and learning all things puppy, crate training, leash walking, etc. These puppies were found in an orchard outside of Fresno CA, and got Parvo a couple months ago. They are now happy, healthy pups ready for new adventures. This litter is super interesting. They 'refuse' to be crated during the day - making quite the racket. But put them in a crate at night in the foster's bedroom, not a peep for 8+ hours! So... we need patient adopters who either have a doggy door (they got this down for sure) or will teach the potty bells. They also the potty training thing down - going outside for the most part with few household accidents. Again... interesting. This puppy is neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated. Puppies are good with dogs, cats, kids and more. Being a puppy, they will need lots of training, including housebreaking. Remember, puppies are cute, but they have sharp teeth, need to be fed 3 times a day and poop... a lot! The 3-3-3 rule is a guideline for transitioning a rescue dog into its new home and helping it to settle in. It suggests that the first three days should be used for adjusting to its new surroundings, the next three weeks for training and bonding, and the first three months for continued socialization and training. Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption. Save-A-Mutt may require a training contract and $100 refundable deposit (depending on previous dog experience). You pick a trainer in your area, and upon completion of a 6+ week training class, we will refund the deposit. Adoption fee is $475. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3 and half of your adoption fee may be tax deductible. Save-A-Mutt is a foster based rescue, we do not have a facility to visit. Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make exceptions only with the approval of the foster home. Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We don’t ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up your puppy.

He is very sweet and like the rest of his litter a bit shy at first. Even with his initial shyness - he is all tail wags and cuddles. Del and his brother 'Mac' spent some time in puppy play at the Zoom Room and had a blast. Continued socialization will be great for this beautiful pup!
