Meet Sarge, a charming 3-year-old Golden Retriever/Collie mix weighing about 42 lbs fully grown. Sarge was rescued from Windsor, South Carolina where he had been severely neglected and forced to live outdoors his entire life. It was evident that he had never experienced the love and care he deserved. Not to mention, upon rescue, it was noticed that Sarge's vision was severely impaired.
Thanks to the intervention of Home for Good Dog Rescue (HFGDR), Sarge received the necessary medical attention, including consultations with ocular specialists, revealing that he suffered from juvenile cataracts.
With the support of HFGDR, Sarge underwent successful cataract surgery, and his recovery has been remarkable. His vision has been almost fully restored, transforming his life in incredible ways. Despite his challenging beginnings, Sarge exudes gratitude for the second chance he's been given.
Initially shy around new people due to his past experiences, Sarge warms up quickly with a little patience and kindness. He is exceptionally gentle and sweet, with a stunning fluffy coat and endearing floppy ears that add to his irresistible charm. Sarge possesses a calm and easy-going demeanor, making him a wonderful companion for households with other dogs, cats, or older children.
Sarge is a well-behaved boy who walks politely on a leash, sleeps peacefully through the night, and is fully housebroken.
