She came from a backyard breeder as an 8-week-old puppy, advertised as a Goldendoodle, but as she grew, it became clear that her heart and her heritage lean almost entirely Golden. Born on 2/7/23 and now weighing about 50 pounds, she has matured into a graceful, gentle young girl who wants nothing more than to be loved. Her original family adored her and provided her with a safe, caring home, but unexpected personal challenges arose—difficult ones that prevented them from giving her the consistency, time, and attention she truly deserved. They made the painful, selfless decision to ask for help in finding her a new family, wanting Margo to live her best possible life. And what a gift this girl will be to her new home. Margo is sweetness personified. She is friendly with every dog she meets, respectful and calm around cats, and gentle enough to be trusted with young children. She needs to be in a home of no small dogs - she thinks they are playthings. Her temperament is exactly what people love about Golden Retrievers—steady, affectionate, intuitive, and endlessly kind. She greets new people with a soft smile and happy tail as if welcoming them into her world. Margo is still young and doesn’t have many commands under her belt, but she is a blank slate in the best possible way. Pebbles is one of our longer term senior dogs, and has become a favorite among our staff. She has had a challenging past, which has made her cautious around new faces. Earning her trust takes time—she will need at least a couple of visits before she feels comfortable—but the reward is immeasurable. Once Pebbles lets you into her world, you’ll become her certified best friend for life! She’s an extremely loving little lady, and despite her old age, she still has quite the energy—especially when it involves treats, a walk, or a romp around the yard with her chosen people. Pebbles would thrive in a home with a single adult and no children. She needs a patient owner who understands her protective nature and is committed to helping her feel safe and secure. We’d love to see her live out her golden years with someone who can see the same potential our staff sees in her every day. You just have to meet Alfie in person to appreciate just how uniquely adorable this guy is! With his huge boopable nose and Alf-shaped beak that looks too big for his body, he looks like a muppet or fraggle come to life. He's a 3 1/2 year old Goldendoodle, 58lbs full grown. Sadly he had a broken leg a couple years ago after being hit by a taxi cab when he had gotten loose in NYC, and it didn't heal properly and ended up needing to be amputated after the incident. He's been well adjusted to being 3-legged for a while and walks and runs so well it's hardly noticeable! He even jumps right in the car to go for rides. Our vet has him on fish oil just to help support his joints and extra care needs to be taken to make sure he doesn't get overweight or he will have more mobility issues as he ages. He's a gentle sweet soul, a little timid at first but warms up fast. He does NOT seem to have the non-shedding poodle type coat and would not be a good fit for allergy sufferers. He was quite matted when he was surrendered so has a bit of a funny haircut right now, and needs someone committed to regular brushing and grooming longterm. A litter of 8 puppies and their Mom were living in neglectful conditions. The owner agreed to surrender the dogs to animal control. Mom, Honolulu, was said to be a mix of Golden Retriever, Hound, & Shepherd. Dad was also said to be a Golden mix too. The puppies were taken to the vet to be checked and all are happy & playful. They get along with people, other dogs and cats as well. Tallahassee is about 3-4 months old and 15 pounds. Please help Tallahassee find the loving home she deserves. Honolulu's litter of 8 - Albany, Boise, Juneau, Madison, Phoenix, Raleigh, Tallahassee, & Charleston (only boy) ***You must provide a vet reference for a current or past pet you have/had.*** We do NOT ship our animals. All adoptive families must travel to us to meet their adoptive dog/cat. Applicants must live within a 2 hour radius from Sparta/Andover (07871/07821). Please understand that we are an animal shelter and thus unable to say whether the dogs are housebroken as they are not in homes.
