Story
Right up front… Andy is looking for a experienced family where they’ve had big dogs before. Andy can be reactionary to new people or protective through the fence or a car windows. Definitely more suited for a one-dog owner. He is an alpha type dog, likes to be in charge so a strong dominant or alpha to counter, he Becomes overwhelmed Easily if his space, boundaries or territories are crossed. He can go into protection mode at times, become easily triggered, through car glass, fencing, and protective over his family. He’s very Protective over his home and his people. Needs time to warm up to new people and he likes to feel like he is in charge, so being an Alpha type he needs to controlled quickly and put in his place with a dominant voice, but once he is comfortable, he will be your best friend and trusted companion for life. Andy is approximately 2 years old, 75 lbs, mixed breed who found himself alone in a shelter, a young lady adopted him, she’s a nurse at beginning of Covid and couldn’t give him the attention he needed. We received a call for help, from that young lady, we don’t not know his origin story started, although I’m sure it wasn’t a happy beginning. Cats are ok, and maybe adult kids, he is curious about other dogs once he knows them loves to play. Andy is a lovable dog who will never leave your side, but need an experienced dog owner, someone that will giving him the time to be understood. Andy likes his butt scratched and rubbed. He likes long walks (although he can puller) and loves to sniff anything and everything along the way! He has had training, he knows sit and hand signals Andy is House broken by being crate trained, will run to his kennel on request and asked to place, he needs a fenced in yard. ( I can talk you through that) I have many videos to send. He’s a very hairy guy, brushing is a must, maybe a grooming professional initially. Can be left alone for long periods of time - does not chew or get into anything he's not supposed to. Likes to be right next to you on the couch and the bed. Well-trained - knows place, down, stay, sit, and working on heel. Loves peanut butter as a treat. He is neutered all vaccines and microchipped, and heartworm negative Since having him here we have had to work with him to to trust us, at first he will be a little nervous but give them time and he will fill your heart. If you have a big heart, kindness and experience with this type of dog, please email BakerBridgeRescue@aol.com and ask for an application, we would love to talk with you in detail about each pup after it is completed and sent back. We received a sponsorship donation to help with Andys adoption fee, so it’s been reduced to $400. Once approved, we will call you. We transport every other week to a location near you with the most animal friendly transport - Rescue Riders Transport.

Story
Elegant Enola is a former momma dog that is one classy 2 year old Golden Doodle girl that is a nice medium size at 45 pounds. This girl has so much pazaaz and we refer to her as the dog  version of  the regal Grace Kelly.  She is such an inspiring beauty that is dog friendly, great with people, and good with children.  She cannot wait to greet you with gestures of excitement when you come home from work.  Jumping for joy is one of those gestures and might be too much for a child under the age of 6 years.  Elegant Enola loves car rides, long walks, and wants to be your Velcro girl.  She has very nice house manners, and enjoys cuddles beside you on the sofa or even sleeping with you during the night.  Enola is so appreciative of any love given to her.  We must recommends that she have a fenced yard to run and play in and very secure.   She loves to roam the neighborhood to meet as many people as she can if she escapes. She is not too friendly with cats, so a home with kitties is not recommended.  Enola loves her toys, and if you throw a toy in the back yard, she will happily retrieve it to bring back so you can throw it again  to continue the fun.  This loving Golden Doodle girl of elegance would make any family a great addition.   Please write to us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.March 18, 2024, 3:33 pm

Story
My name is Milo Magoo and I am a 3 year old Golden Doodle with a birthday that is coming in the next few days… to turn 3 yrs. old.  I weigh 80 pounds and I am looking for an attentive and dog training family that will really shape and polish me to be the spectacular dog that I have the potential to be.  My current family really has no time to work with me to shape me in to a dog with great manners and emotional control.   I am bored in this home and I need physical and mental stimulation and fun challenges to do.  I am very happy, sweet, and very active with running and playing.  I am a male that is ALL BOY and if I had my wish I would say to adopt me if you have a girl dog in the family.   I would love to have a girlfriend for life!  When I am bored my favorite, yet dangerous, thing to do is eat socks.  So please watch that if you take me home.  It is totally out of boredom.   Critter Cavalry Rescue is tryng to change all this by placing me in the right home that they will review closely.   I am a silver tawny coloring and people just ohhhhh and ahhhhh over the color of my coat of  hair.  If you would like to adopt me please email right away at ccrnewengland@gmail.com Mention in the email where you live!!!   That helps so much too.  PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.March 18, 2024, 3:33 pm

Happy Hoss is the leader of the pack and is a very playful, Golden Doodle puppy who was born on the 16th of December, 2023, and has grown into a handsome young golden curly guy.  Hoss weighs 19 lbs and is in excellent health.  He is extremely intelligent, loves to play with his toys, and is happy at all times.   This puppy is almost housebroken, but will use the puppy pads when his foster mom is at work.  He is alert, fun, enjoys play time, and quickly quiets down when it time for “chow” – he has a healthy appetite and loves food. This will make him easier to train because of food motivation.  Happy Hoss enjoys cuddle time, and likes to take care of his family by smothering them in kisses.  He has been neutered, vaccinated, and a very healthy baby boy.   If you are interested in this boy please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.March 18, 2024, 3:33 pm

Story
Meet Chip!  He is a 3 year old Goldendoodle (Golden Retriever Standard Poodle mix).  Chip is a very handsome boy with a beautiful and unusual brown and white coat.  The handsome boy really stands out and he garners lots of attention.  He is a big boy at 80 lbs.  Don't let his size fool you!  He is a big love bug and might be the biggest lap dog ever.  If you are looking for a big love bug to share your life then you have found him in Chip.  He is a true lover of people and other dogs.  He gets along well with everyone but would do best with another dog of comparable size.  An energetic playmate will keep everyone happy.  Chip does use a gentle leader when he is walked as he needs some training in that department and at 80 lbs is quite to puller without it.  He has no problem wearing it and will sit nicely while you put it on him.  After that you are able to experience a wonderful walk that everyone enjoys.  (We do recommend training though to curtail the pulling.)  Chip is housebroken and crate trained.  He lost his original home and then came to Critter Cavalry when his second family decided 5 dogs were too many when they had to travel. Chip was the last one in so he became the first one out.  He has adjusted well in his foster home and has a big time with the two other large dogs there.  He is also good with the small dogs but is a little overwhelming to them.  Chip does not have a problem with the resident cats either.  Chip needs an active family that will make sure he gets all the exercise he needs.  Someone who runs, hikes or walks a lot would be ideal.  Chip will be fine with children but they should be 12 or older due to his size.  Chip is neutered, current on all shots, heartworm negative and microchipped.  Please consider the expense of grooming every 4 to 6 weeks when considering Chip.  To be considered for his forever family and to request an application please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast.net.  APAPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Chip is currently in Tennessee but can be transported north upon adoption.)March 18, 2024, 3:33 pm

Kindhearted Kenny will capture your heart and take your breath away when you meet this curly headed golden boy. As a Golden Doodle puppy, KK is a laid back boy with a super playful nature that makes him a ton of fun for a family!  This Golden Doodle boy was born the 16th of December, 2023, and has grown into a handsome young puppy that as of March 5th, weighs 19.5 lbs. and is in excellent health.  Our projection for him in the way of size is to be a 50-60 pound adult boy.  He is extremely intelligent, loves to play with his toys, and is in a happy mood all the time.  Kenny is just too young to be completely housebroken, but will use the puppy pads when his foster mom is at work.  He is alert, fun, enjoys play time, and quickly quiets down when it time for “chow” – he has a healthy appetite and it will help you to motivate him for training.  This puppy like most young ones, enjoys cuddle time, and likes to take care of his family by smothering them in kisses.  Kenny is neutered, vaccinated, and a very healthy baby boy.  If you are looking to shape the life of your future Doodle bug puppy then Kenny of some of his other littermates, Rosalita or Hoss, will be available on 3/22 to bring home and ride to one of 6 locations on our transport van.  Please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are seriously interested.  PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.March 18, 2024, 3:33 pm

Story
Scotch and his littermates are the result of someone thinking they had "more time" to get their female dog spayed.... but along came these beautiful puppies who need a home and whose mother is being spayed! He is a friendly, lovable, beautiful pup who loves to play with his littermates and foster brothers and sisters. Scotch Is spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, treated for all of the intestinal parasites, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Because intestinal parasites are cyclical, your puppy may need additional treatment once you get him/her home. This is common and nothing to be alarmed about. Puppies and dogs need to be treated periodically for parasites throughout their entire lives. Visit our website to see our weekend Events here! Pup’s with the designated “meet me” next to their names are in CT and ready to attend adoption events. Please check with your adoption coordinator if you are interested in a specific dog prior to coming to an event, as a dog's availability to attend can change at any time. We can not guarantee approval on site at the events, so we recommend applying ahead of time. You can apply at the event, but the application process may not be able to be completed the same day. If you are not pre-approved, you are still welcome to come and meet pup’s at the event! The adoption fee is $600 which includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccinations, flea/tick and heartworm preventatives, and the mandatory CT HB 5368 fee. More and more of our adopters are having fun with DNA tests on their pups. You might ask yourself why our breed guess is varying degrees of difference from the DNA tests. Most of our puppies are rescued from high kill shelters or other abandonment situations and we have no info on parents. When we rescue puppies that have no background info, we make our very best educated guess as to breed mix and age. Our guesstimate comes from years and years and years of animal welfare work and training, but our guesses won't always agree with your vet, your neighbor, your DNA test, etc. The most important thing to know about your puppy's breed mix is that most likely he/she is a Super Lovable Mutt made of many many many different breeds. If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at the Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05. TO APPLY PLEASE GO TO www.cprdogs.com. If your application was successfully submitted you will get an automatically generated confirmation email. Please DO NOT USE the ADOPTAPET "CONTACT THIS RESCUE GROUP" form below or you may not hear from us as these often end up in spam or bouncing back. After receipt of your application, an adoption counselor will then be in touch to answer your questions about this pup, discuss the adoption process and get the ball rolling! If you have not heard from one of our volunteers within 5 days of submitting your application, please email mollibo@gmail.com.

Story
Expect to be stopped and asked “What kind of dog is that?!?” should you be Coco's lucky adopter because this fellow is a real show-stopper! His fuzzy-wuzzy coat is the color of chocolate mixed with golden flecks - just stunning! It's soft and silky and you will never want to stop petting him. And his eyes, oh, those hazel eyes, they grab your heart and they don't let go! Coco is an incredibly cute guy, estimated to be about 4 years old and weighing around 44 lbs. He was found wandering down a road in Louisiana by a friend of one of our volunteers. When she took him to the shelter to be scanned for a microchip, they were able to locate Coco's original owners who had moved to Texas and couldn't take Coco with them. They rehomed him on their own and whoever he was with didn't take very good care to see to Coco's safety. Coco's original owners shared, "Coco is a really great dog! He knows how to "sit" on command and give his paw too. He is very loving and affectionate. We didn't want to rehome him in the first place and I surely gave him to the wrong person. Thank you for taking him and helping find him a loving home. We miss him and love him dearly." Kinda breaks your heart, doesn't it? We have some wonderful details to share about Coco from his foster mom, Katie. - Great eater, doesn't seem picky with food or treats. Does take interest in human food when I'm eating but understands NO - Loves a car ride. He has been on several now. Last night I had a sweet tooth so I took him through the Sonic drive though to get ice cream with me. The fellow at the window saw him and asked if he could have a pup cup. He seemed to know exactly what that was so I said yes. So we both had a sweet tooth last night he gobbled it right up in the back seat on the way home - Friendly and loves to make new friends. Took him into a pet store to pick up some yummy treats and a toy that caught his eye. He was very friendly with everyone who said hello. He doesn't jump and understands sit. He did put his paws up out of excitement during checkout. Loves to offer a sitting handshake in exchange for his treats. - Great on a leash, doesn't seem to pull much. He is also petite so whatever pull he does have, it isn't overpowering. I am extra careful to not give him the opportunity to bolt as he, and all rescued dogs, are flight risks. He is quick to potty on a leash, no accidents inside, he goes and waits by the door to let me know if he wants out. - Toys, likes them but doesn't tear them apart. He has a very soft bite. - He is a cuddler and gives sweet kisses/hugs. He's great with eye contact. Overall he seems like a happy boy. The best way to describe his personality, so far, is "gentle soul." He is so polite and gentle when he wants to communicate something. He follows me around from room to room when I am working; he sits under my desk by my feet. He seems to be alert of sounds coming from outside and goes to the door and makes a low pitched bark or two out. He is easily calmed when told it's ok. - Seems to like watching TV. It's random, but I put on a nature documentary last night before bed and I think he was watching it with me! His eyes were locked in on the screen. He would get excited and pop his head up when he saw birds or other animals on the TV - I did put him in a crate this morning when I was at the gym and then went to grocery store. He was super easy to put in the crate and was very calm when I returned and let him out. He seems like he is used to/comfortable with it. I have also left my house for a shorter amount of time and left him out. No issues, he was in my entry to greet me when I came home. Didn't eat or break anything There you have it - one amazing dog!! Coco came north and was placed in what we hoped would be his forever home, but the adopter, who is close to 70 years old, is finding Coco's energy level to be more than he can handle. So now Coco is seeking his forever family once again. Coco is a bit bewildered about where he is and why he is not with his original beloved family. Extreme care must be taken by his adopters to make sure he does not wander away again. Leashed walks would be best for this cutie pie, who has very nice leash walking skills. Coco's cute expression seemed to ask, "Do you want to be my friend?" Coco loves his human friends and is good with other dogs. He has no history with cats while with our rescue, but used to chase chickens in his former home. We expect he would be good with children over the age of 10. He truly wants to please and hear the words "good boy" spoken often. Coco keeps his kennel clean and truly is a good boy! Take a look at his video! Coco is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and micro-chipped. He finished his treatment for heartworm and is in the northeast and ready to be adopted. Rescued dogs come with a range of needs - from behavioral to emotional to medical. When approved applicants adopt such dogs, they agree to continue the rehabilitation we have begun. If you would like to be part of Coco's rescue story and are already approved to adopt through SGRR, please contact Cheryl Kewley to be considered to adopt Coco. Please contact us with any questions regarding your application status. Good with dogs,
Story
I have an Adoption Pending but hope you will consider one of our other dogs in need. Thank you! Harvey is a young purebred Golden Retriever who will melt your heart within 30 seconds. In addition to being stunning, he has a gentle soul. At just eight months old, he was given for free to a woman by a breeder who felt he was the answer to the problems the woman was having with another Golden from the same breeder. Animal Control got involved when the older Golden was found wandering in town, and when they found Harvey hiding under a table at her home, they convinced her to surrender both dogs, and Sunshine was asked to help. (The older Golden has found a new home.) Now with a wonderful SGRR foster, Harvey is coming out of his shell and gaining confidence. The resident dog, Mack, is his good friend and mentor, a relationship that took about two minutes to begin! Harvey is enjoying running in the large, fenced yard and letting his inner puppy be free, with Mack by his side. In just a few days, Harvey has come a long way. He is quickly picking up on basic commands and is making real progress adapting to life indoors. He now watches TV as long as he can sit next to his foster Mom! He gets much of his confidence from the love and guidance he is receiving from his foster family. In less than a week, Harvey has gone from drooling and trembling all over, to running around, wagging his tail, seeking affection, and playing with toys! Sadly, in the eight months, Harvey was with the breeder, he did not benefit from any basic training, including spending time indoors. He is now learning that it is ok to go through doorways, the TV is not a scary monster, and a leash is for guidance, not punishment. He is working on house training and trying hard to please. His wish is for a fenced yard and another dog(s) in the home to mentor him. Harvey is a gentle, submissive dog who needs to gain self-confidence. Like any puppy, it's all about play right now but he also wants to feel loved and when he cautiously leans into you for pets your heart will melt. He has some catching up to do, but if you are looking for a stunning young Golden and have the patience to work with Harvey, you will be getting an awesome Golden. Harvey is up to date on vaccinations. Adopters must commit to having Harvey neutered when he reaches 1 year of age, or as your veterinarian recommends, and must provide proof of neutering to SGRR. If you have a fenced-in yard, another dog in the home, and are looking for a sweet companion dog to share in your adventures, Harvey might be the perfect fit for you. Rescued dogs come with a range of needs, from behavioral to emotional to medical. Story
I have an Adoption Pending but I hope you will consider one of our other dogs in need. Thank you! Rosie is a lovely, calm, and happy purebred Golden Retriever who has lived with her human mom since she was a puppy. Unfortunately, her mom has run into financial difficulty and cannot afford to care for Rosie's needs. Rosie is well-loved and treated, and her mom is heartbroken to let her go. But she is putting Rosie first and we promised to find a loving home where Rosie will continue to receive the love and attention she has always known. Rosie is a classic, sweet, and affectionate Golden. She loves attention and is very friendly and social. She gets along great with other dogs, cats, and kids. Rosie is accustomed to a quiet home as it has just been Rosie and her mom. But this friendly girl loves to ride in the car and go for short walks. She knows commands to sit, paw, and lie down and thoroughly enjoys being by your side. Rosie loves her crate, door open, which is her safe place to hang out or nap. A crate is a must in her new home. The challenge Rosie faces is that she is hypothyroid and has been so for some time. This has left Rosie very overweight with a poor quality to her coat, and some hot spots. She has just started taking the medicine she needs, and with time, Rosie will lose her extra pounds, regain her shiny coat, and feel so much better in general. She will most likely remain on thyroid medicine, but it is not expensive care. Pretty Rosie will be a wonderful companion in a home where someone is home more often than not, possibly with another dog for company. She enjoys daily walks, and a yard to play in would be so nice for her to enjoy! Once she has some regular exercise and her thyroid medicine has had time to make a difference for her, she is going to be a beauty! At just 7 years of age, she will be more energetic than she has been for a while, and she can live her happiest life. Rosie is living in New England and is ready to meet you! When you adopt a rescue dog, you become an important, forever part of their life journey by continuing the rehabilitation we have begun. If you would like to be part of Rosie's rescue story, and you have already been approved for adoption through SGRR, please contact Candy to be considered to adopt Rosie. If not yet approved for adoption, please visit our website to lean more and to submit an online application. Click here to visit our website. Please contact us with any questions regarding your application status. PLEASE APPLY by submitting an application via this online link: Click for Adoption Application About Our Rescue Before being approved to adopt, all potential adopters need to complete our online application and participate in our pre-adoption review process. The process includes the completion of an online application, a reference from the applicants' vet, a phone interview, and a visit to the applicants' home. The application process helps us determine what type of Golden would be best suited for the applicants' life style. In some cases, the specific dog you are interested in may have found a home before this process is complete or further assessment may find that this dog is not the right match for your family. We are regularly getting new Goldens in need of a home, so we encourage you to apply and get approved so that when the right dog comes along you will be ready. The information provided on each dog is based on observations of our vets, volunteers, fosters and when available, trainers. While we do our best to report any and all issues, SGRR does not make any guarantees as to the health or temperament of any dog. Dogs evolve differently in different environments and we cannot predict with any certainty how the dog you adopt will act in your home. SGRR ADOPTION FEES - Effective May 1, 2020 (subject to change) $750 Puppy - up to 6 months $650 Young 6 months - 6 years $550 Senior 7 - 9 years $450 Senior 10 years and older $550 Young Special Needs $400 Senior 7+ Special Needs $1000 Young Bonded Pair $900 Senior 7+ Bonded Pair A contract is signed the day of adoption. Under the terms of the contract, all adopters are required to bring the rescue to a vet within 7 business days. The dogs receive basic veterinary care prior to adoption. If your vet identifies an illness that an adopter is not willing to treat, then the dog is returned and a full refund is provided. Many of our dogs are fostered in private homes and we do not have a facility to visit. We are committed to our dogs before, during, and after adoption! The rescue retains title to the dog and can never be released or sold. Should the adopters no longer be able to keep the dog, SGRR must be notified so that we can take the dog back into rescue and place it into another home. We reserve the right to remove a dog at any time should we find the adopter is no longer caring for their Golden in a way we see fit. Adopters then have to agree to follow up visits as needed. Please be a ray of light for this Sunshine dog and make a tax deductible donation toward medical and other expenses. Every cent of your generosity goes directly toward the care of a Sunshine dog.
