Story
Meet Chandra! Chandra is a 4-year-old, 40-lb Goldendoodle and an absolute snuggly sweetheart. She appears to have had some training, has shown no destructive behaviors, and is settling nicely into suburban family life. She’s polite around food (curious but not begging at the table), though she will remind you when it’s HER mealtime. Chandra plays well with the family and truly shines when it comes to affection - she loves to hug, popping up on her back legs and leaning in for a full embrace. Potty-training wise, she’s about 98% there: she goes outside, holds it overnight, but has used pee pads a few times, suggesting she was previously trained to them and is doing her best while learning a new routine. She’s also handled being left alone for short periods (about 20 minutes so far) without issue. With her foster family's 1-year-old dog, Chandra enjoys playing chase and comfortably shares space - after an initial adjustment period, they now lounge on the same couch. As she settles in, she’s bonded closely with her person and tends to stick nearby (Velcro-dog energy). She can occasionally be a bit competitive for attention and may “grumble” or position herself in between to be closest to her person, but it’s mostly talk and intimidation rather than physical. Overall, Chandra is affectionate, gentle, well-mannered, and eager to be close to her people - a cuddly, loving companion with a great foundation and a big heart. Chandra is being fostered in West Orange, NJ. Her adoption fee is $475. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Meet Orgil, a sweet Golden Retriever mix puppy who’s ready to be your new best friend. Orgil has a gentle demeanor and seems to be calm for his age, but he's still a young dog who loves play time and needs proper physical and mental stimulation. He is happiest when he’s curled up close, soaking in all the cuddles he can get. Like any puppy, Orgil will need some basic training and a patient adopter to help him learn the ropes, but his curious and friendly nature makes him a joy to work with. He’s especially interested in meeting others! Orgil loves saying hello to everyone he meets, whether they walk on two legs or four. Approved adopters interested in Orgil can email adopt@hbrdogs.com for more info. If you’re not approved yet, apply today at hbrdogs.com.

Story
Meet Beau, an 11-month-old Golden Retriever mix weighing around 51 lbs — and yes, he truly lives up to his name. Beau is a polite little gentleman who approaches the world with a soft heart and kind manners. He’s crate-trained and does wonderfully when meeting other dogs, greeting them calmly and respectfully. Beau can be a bit shy at first and is still adjusting to the hustle and bustle of city life, so he’ll do best with adopters who can give him a little extra time and patience to fully settle in. Once he feels safe, his sweet personality shines through in the best way. According to his foster, Beau is a total cuddle bug who loves nothing more than being close to his people. He’s perfectly content entertaining himself with his favorite toys (especially his pizza toy and tennis-ball rope chew), but his absolute favorite way to start the day is with a generous helping of morning belly rubs. Beau is also a quick learner and highly food-motivated, which makes training both fun and rewarding. Approved adopters interested in Beau can email adopt@hbrdogs.com for more info. If you’re not approved yet, apply today at hbrdogs.com.

Story
Meet President Rose, a 2-year-old Retriever mix weighing around 55 lbs with the softest soul and the kindest eyes. Rose is a shy girl who is still adjusting to city life, but beneath that initial hesitation is a truly sweet and gentle disposition. Her foster describes her as incredibly soft-natured. President Rose loves her crate and is currently learning to go in on command, a skill she’s picking up beautifully. She’s also working on her basics like sit, stay, and come, and she’s proving herself to be a very smart girl who wants to learn at her own steady pace. With both people and other dogs, Rose does best with slow introductions and a little extra space to feel safe at first. Once she’s comfortable, her affectionate side shines through. She adores belly rubs and gentle pets, and watching her confidence and trust grow over time is incredibly rewarding. Approved adopters interested in President Rose can email adopt@hbrdogs.com for more info. If you’re not approved yet, apply today at hbrdogs.com.
